I wish the first three operas under Knappersbusch were available. I love Knappersbusch's tempo and Sigurd Björling's singing. So I really want to know how kna's 1951 Walküre was like.
This music treasures even became more treasures! Wonderful singers and artists giving their best during the first Bayreuth festival after the war! From an other 'Ring' of the same year exist Rheingold, Siefried, parts of Walküre and the final of Götterdämmerung conducted by Karajan. Karajan said that many rehearsals were recorded, but he never was interested to look for this recordings for he produced his own 'Ring'. Professor Karl Randolf, later general-music director of Oldenburg and conductor at Graz, was one of the music assistants of Karajan and told me that there was a very hard and hostile competition between EMI and DECCA. In this years had Knappertsbusch the better position than Karajan. Thanks to Helmut C.Fischer for his great work to enjoy this Götterdämmerung now in this excellent sound!
I would like them to do a good video editing one day by uploading the complete work with Arthur Rackham's illustrations and showing subtitles in Spanish (from Spain) and English.

What a shame the other recordings were lost. Aldenhoff is one of my favorites!

Or just a black background with white subtitles with gothic typography.
