I'm a Toon fan that was at match on Saturday, Man Utd warmed up right in front of me and my son, I witnessed Rashford putting zero effort in to do the exercises compared to the others. Steve McLaren was overlooking the warm ups but never pulled him up.

This is just unfair. Not all young players are brats, but for some reason Man United attracts those who are. The fans wondered why Ferguson didn't want to give Pogba any gametime and would rather bring Scholes out of retirement instead. Well, now we know why.
Even at Spurs, think about Udogie, Van De Ven, Porro, Sarr, Johnson and especially Kulusevski. All of those players are starting for Tottenham, performing consistently, they are all younger than Rashford and earn much less than him. And they aren't "brats" in any sense.
Rashford off the pitch is always posing like he's a rapper covered in diamonds, posing like a superstar. His head is away in the clouds, multi millionaire who has a God like complex, totally dillusional.

We comfortably won the vast majority of games he played last season under Ten Hag, with lots of clean sheets, and he was the only player who bothered turning up for work under Ragnick (Pogba, Ronaldo, Cavani, Lingard, Varane all ran away). The season before that he was arguably our best player, we finished 2nd behind City, and it was roundly recognised that Maguires absence in the final was the reason why we didn't win the Europa Cup. Yes we've got a lot of overhyped overpaid players who are past it or not good enough, but that's not the problem. The real issue is we seem to force playing these same failures week in week out. Insanity is repeating the game mistakes over and over and expecting a different outcome. So if that's a board decision then that sums up our club right now. But if not, Ten Hag should be dropping the likes of Rashford, Martial, Antony, Dalot should be getting dropped for younger players like Pellestri, Gore, Forsson, Aaroen, Hughill, Fish. Players like Garnacho, Mainoo and Pellestri are great examples of that working.

Such an easy target man, pick on Maguire who can’t play out from the back and invites pressure, mctominay who hides from the ball, and lazy rashford, always the lads from over seas who get targeted
The fundamental problem with United and our fanbase is that if a young player has a decent debut, the fans get carried away and just assume we have a world class talent. Martial scored against Liverpool so the fans immediately thought he was mint, even taking massive personal offence at the headline "50m down the drain" even though that was exactly what it was.
Same for Rashford. He had a fairy tale debut season scoring on numerous debuts, but it was obvious from day one that he was limited in his talent. The fans also got well too carried away with "left foot right foot" Greenwood (even though he was dogshit on his right foot). They're doing it AGAIN with Hojlund (Mark Goldbridge "look... he's a superstar") and Mainoo, who has looked composed for an 18 year old but realistically hasn't done anything that Fred couldn't do (and we all wanted him out).
The fans need to stop christening these unknown quantities as world class players in the making. It causes a surge in media coverage, sales in merchandise etc and this leads to the club panicking over these bang average players and putting them on massive contracts so we can't shift them. We're stuck with Rashford when the opportunity was there to shitcan him. He's a mediocre player with an appalling attitude. Martial will at least leave on a free at the end of the season, then the cycle will continue as the salary we save on letting him leave will immediately be blown on another average kid who the club and fans think is an elite player.

Many players on big wages & long contracts, when they don't work out you're stuck with them, they just stick around and take the money, not interested in the club anymore.
This club needs to take a cut throat approach with retaining players, if you are not up to snuff, the replacement should be waiting. They should have binned Rashford after that Ragnick season, but somehow he is now their highest paid. Rooney was not always a consitent goal scorer, but you could always feel his impact whether it running into his box for a last ditch tackle or dropping into midfield to create something. Ronaldo was the problem. Huge wages. Too old. Did not play how the manager wanted. Difference between him and the likes of Martial, Sancho and Varane is he could be sold on name value. With them nobody will match their wages and they will not take a wage cut.

This situation has happened with the last four or five managers and they're not carbon copies of each other so this reoccurring problem is pointing to the players and if the owners valued the manager and the football team these players should be long gone. I can see Ten Hag getting the sack then the next manager struggling in there second seeing if they keep certain players.

Number one reason is shirt sales and United's retail business all young United fans want a Rashford shirt or cap, Martial, ext ext and to boost their transfer and sponsors value.
Player power is encouraged by higher management. ETH has a contractual agreement to play Rashford and has formal, non-contractual agreements concerning a handful of other 'big name' players.

Anthony Martial has one of the highest goal scoring rate for Manchester United in the EPL. It's absolutely amazing how misinformed most analysts and football fans are about goal scoring statistics, namely goals per 90 minutes. This season, Martial's 0.24 goals per 90 minutes, is 2nd to McTominay. Compare with other players: Gabriel Jesus 0.31, Gabriel Martineli 0.19, Jack Graelish 0.25, Jeremy Doku 0.25, Garnacho 0.14.
Listen, I grew up on Manchester United being amazing but it been over ten years now of talking about Man U not being great. How much more air time can we give them and can we just accept now they are a top ten club. I guess we have to do this for clickbait but it’s so tiring. The saddest thing is Man U created their success and Man City bought it. But enough, Man U are not worth all this air time. It’s been over ten years and we are still in the past.

The issue with Sancho was never his training. It was that ETH wanted to force him out in the summer so he could buy new players. The same is true with Maguire, McTom, Beek etc. They were on too much money though and refused to leave. Sancho was one of those players and then after the Arsenal game he took it out on Sancho. I dont rate Sancho and he probably isnt the most proffessional footballer but I think ETH singled him out when there are much worse offenders, like Martial. That and ETH seems to think that as long as you are in training at the EXACT time stated then you are eligible to play a game. If you are a second late then you dont. That is fine but 1) You arent going to get massive dividends from having this policy and 2) Why is it OK to be lazy on the pitch when it matters? Rashford didnt even track back.

Martial had even higher goal scoring rates in previous seasons, having the highest rate for most seasons at United: 2015/16: 0.38 (2nd), 2016/17: 0.23, 2017/18: 0.51 (1st), 2018/19: 0.55 (1st), 2019/20: 0.58 (1st), 2020/21: 0.24, 2021/22: 0.43 (2nd behind Ronaldo), 2022/23: 0.55 (1st).
Let's hope Ten Hag is monitoring real statistics, and not listening to clueless former footballers.

He is coming into his prime right now, on his new £300k per week contract and he is just invisible in every game. You cant pin things on Martial or single him out over others. There are barely 2 or 3 players in the Man Utd squad that could challenge for a place in the "top 6" teams and there are not many others who could get in the mid table teams either. Martial has always had a poor ethic and should not be getting any playing time. He had one good season before he signed his last contract much like Rashford. If Ten promoted a young forward and gave him 30 minutes per game this would be preferable.
I couldn't believe hearing this yesterday game between City & Spurs that Jack Grealish scored his 1 goal of season. The same amount of goals as Marcus Rashford yet one gets free pass than other doesn't make sense in my opinion both players have been abysmal this season.
Grealish has been largely sidelined due to the form of doku, rashford has started virtually every united game when he's available.

Tbh since rash ,tony and greenwood scored 60 goals that season, it has been the graveyard shift for every stinker . God knows how Ronaldo got 25ish goals in his first season back . Didn’t martial not take Man Utd to the FA Cup final in 2016. He has had some great moments. It’s the same with Onana, you don’t know what type of player you’re going to get. One side of the coin he’s plays well and on the other he’s not.

@@airfixx_8952 Not homegrown rules, but the simple fact that PL clubs just has buttloads more money than other leagues. It’s not as easy to negotiate and lower the fees when the teams are not in as much of dire need (compared to Sevilla for example, who needed the money badly and quick). English players don’t actually cost that much on average, they cost similarly as the average foreign players coming in. The top most expensive transfers aren’t even dominated by Englishmen. I think English players being “premium” is a narrative that came from banter that some fans think as facts for some reason.
The squads one problem we are not good enough but the way the manager has got us set up isn’t working we just get backed up to our own penalty area in every game there’s not enough pressing we just stand off when going forward it’s in 2 s and 3 s the whole team doesn’t push up we don’t set up to win games we set up just to defend and rashford can not play on the right side
