What about Chance the Rapper? I'd love to hear what Passman has to think after his 3 grammy wins
Starting at 1:50 he says “but who knows..” and launches into a statement where he says streaming and other factors could overcome this last barrier within a few years. This interview was shot in 2014, chance got his Grammys in 2017. If anything, Passman predicted the inevitable. And think about it, chance had a whole team around him. A superb manager, business manager, agents, promoters and most importantly funding. Thanks to streaming plus a team normally supplied by a label, he overcame this last barrier. There’s another passman interview in 2007 where he predicts the streaming service model that Spotify started in 2008 but wasn’t brought here until 2011. Passman is a legend
Rumor has it he was an industry plant that really is not independent.
