    Question about publishing. If Sony purchased half of (50%) M.Jackson's Atv publishing for $100 million. [Ques.] Then why do people say M.Jackson owned a portion of Sony's publishing. It sounds like it should be one way only because Mike didn't but theirs. Help me understand if you can.

    So if I write 100% of the lyrics, and the producer creates 100% of the music, how much publishing do we each have?

    • @davidcottrell1308

      typically, 50% unless you agree otherwise...

      What if you write the song, you are the artist, have your own idea of arrangement for your music then give the producer your concept of how your music should go for the song, plus your own idea on the music format?

    • @LapisStone
      @LapisStone 3 года назад

      @@davidcottrell1308 no that is false, you both own 100% of the song because there are the lyrics and the instrumentation. the lyricist gets 100% and the producer/arranger/instrumentalist gets 100%.
