- This week we saw the first episode of BattleBots 2020, and my goodness it was truly superb. I've tried not to put spoilers in the title, so if you haven't watched the episode, it's best you watch this review afterwards!

This episode was great and even with the changes because of the pandemic, nothing was sacrificed. We still had the fights, the content, Jenny Taft segments and other stuff. The main event, kinda sucked because all that hype for only 15 sec of an upset but still great episode nonetheless. The best part of the episode is that there are no commercials interrupting the flow, literally this is a huge improvement over s4, but let's hope this plays out throughout the rest of the season. I'm so hyped to see the top 32, I can't wait to see what the bounty event is, and most importantly, I cannot wait to see you know who. 😍😍😍😍😍
I reckon the next main event would be Hydra vs Witch Doctor with Hydra reign supreme (as shown that Witch Doctor would be facing Slammow while Hydra would face Hypershock)
@@kodoqbesar4301 well that's kinda sad TBH for a lot of reasons....
1) this is witch doctor, you know, the one that made it to the finals, went 7-1, beat elites like Whiplash, gigabyte, sawblaze, deathroll, tombstone and yours truly, and took a fight to bite force. And she lose to hydra? You know the one that lost to the 14th seed in 30 sec?
2) this is hydra, you know, the bot that replaced you know who, that supposedly beats a great bot, and yet my you know who couldn't even land a single flip? Are you kidding me?
3) tombstone is 0-1, and if witch doctor goes 0-1, who's gonna win the giant nut? Most if not all believed it was either tombstone or witch doctor.
4) this takes away the opportunity of witch doctor fighting other great bots, like hypershock, end game, lockjaw, etc
5) we don't know if hydra is fighting hypershock as his second fight. And we see hypershock supposedly lost to end game. So it's only what we speculate, not confirmation
6) the bronco curse is back
To wrap it up, hydra beating witch doctor will honestly be sad. Not because of witch doctor being disappointment but for hydra to have more of a reason to replace you know who :(

1. Yes but that 14th seed is freaking Minotaur.
2. Maybe Hydra took Witch Doctor to flight school, not letting Witch Doctor to attack.
3. TBH I reckon Endgame to be the one. They're making a statement by defeating Tombstone, not just a normal KO, but out of the arena.

3. No no no. Yes I do think end game can go far and possibly win the whole thing, but 1 fight shouldn't automatically mean he's the one. It's not like tombstone has never lost before, and the field is not all tombstone. We need to see him do well against vertical spinner (with wedgelets) to see if he can really take the giant nut.

1. Even still, we must agree that Hydra is a glass cannon.
2. It's because Bronco is too long and sluggish. Witch Doctor easily capitalizes on the openings. And also Hydra is lower to the ground than Bronco.
3. Beating Tombstone is a statement. Even if it's only one fight and let's say they fucked up in the next two, they'll at least be in round of 32 for their quick KO over Tombstone. Endgame is basically Bite Force but stronger. But Bite Force's power isn't why it's feared. It's because of its design and reliability. Over 3 seasons with vertical spinner, Bite Force had only be flipped once (in a rumble between WD and Wrecks). It's design is also so low to the ground and so stable. Not to mention that it had around 70 - 80 lbs armor. It's durability is also one of the best in the competition (personally I think Duck and Death Roll is more durable).
Dude Skorpios completely clowned SideWinder last year, it can deal real damage.

Tombstone v Endgame, man. That was insane.
Endgame did what SOW did last year, get a OTA.

My friend and I hate tombstone and we cheered out loud when he lost.
ngl I am a tombstone fan but I am always exited to see if anyone can beat him and suprised when they do
as soon as i saw that image of chomp and gamma 9 then my hopes of chomp winning immediately died
My favorite fight was Whiplash vs Sawblaze.
A few interesting things I've noticed in this episode:
Whiplash's front armor panels were designed to be as low to the ground as possible, to try and stop Sawblaze from getting under them.
Whiplash also has welded the front armor instead of attaching them to rubber shock absorber, so they should be much more durable this season.
Sawblaze's arm was designed to go down faster this season.
Fusion's drum spinner caused them to gyrodance a few times, causing them to hit the horizontal on the floor. This did end up being a big weakness.
Mad Catter has a lifter assembly with the vert.
Malice and Axe Backwards was a fight between two unique drum spinner designs.
Malice's spinner was not actually hitting at top speed until the final hit.
Axe Backwards does have flamethrowers inside the axes.
Axe Backwards was able to spin up the weapon for the first time since 2018.
Skorpios went with the sawblade so that the hammersaw wouldn't be damaged.
Bloodsport's spinner that they used was the anti-hammer spinner.
Bloodsport also lost the wedgelets do to them bouncing up off the low plow on Skorpios and the hit their own weapon.
The reason Shrederator was able to break the plow was because of luck, as the spinner clipped the edge of the plow and tore it off. A similar hit by Tombstone was what tore off both wheels.
Lock-Jaw's plow this season is slightly different, as it is now angled, meaning it is effective no matter what direction you hit it from.
Rusty's weapon is a hammer, and it was able to self-right due to the small spike-like attachments on the side. A similar attachment can be seen on the 2016-2018 versions of Chomp.
Sporkinok got one of their lifter spikes stuck under the screws' casing, and could no longer move. In fact, watching the replays closely showed that Rusty never actually got a hit on Sporkinok.
SMEE has a total of 19 E's on the robot, and therefore the official name is SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Sharko has an full 4 different weapons: Grappler (when the lifter is open), lifter (when the crusher opens), crusher (when the lifter closes), and thwackbot (the tail on the back).
SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE also has 4 weapons: The full body grappler, the undercutters (2), and a wedge.
End Game attempted a very risky strategy: Trying to let Tombstone's spinner hit thee left side of End Game. This meant that Tombstone could grab on to the side of the wedge and tear it off.
Tombstone got stuck by the screws to do the tire, as Ray said after the fight.
This marks the first ever OOTA performed on Tombstone.
Only 3 robots have ever hit Tombstone's tire: Gigabyte, Bite Force (2019), and End Game.
I can feel Cobalt and Minotaur, at their homes, itching because they couldn't join xD. Both robot have the potential to win it all but last year were hindered by the uneven floor.
Sharko is lucky that SMEEEE kept attacking it the whole time. They either lost drive or traction on their right wheel halfway through the fight and should have been counted out. I actually think that it was winning the fight prior to the wheel being chewed up. The bot's weapon is very ineffective (it has such a slow, two step, wind up that you have to be totally still to be caught in it) but Sharko was still controlling the fight prior to that, moving where it wanted to and doing super-fish-al damage to SMEE without having any done to itself. Then SMEEE got in on Sharko's big, weak, wheel and the fight was done.
Rusty had a lot of steering issues, not sure if that was down to the driver (who is also the mechanic, team captain, travel booker, etc.) or the treads. Also, due to only having one driver I think they had a little trouble activating the weapon in a timely manner too. Of course its more meant to be a fun bot than an actual contender this time around. I hope it gets another lucky win and somehow actually makes it to the round of 32. Also hope it manages to leave intact. As to Sporkanok... I don't generally believe in the effectiveness of hammer/thwack bots. Other than weapon choice the design looked fine, but its a new bot and obviously had internal issues. I wonder if Rusty pushing down on the frame did damage to the internals (as opposed to having gummed up the drive chain for the tires) or if the bot just died "at random." Respect to them for not just being another vertical spinner, I guess.
If I had been Tombstone, I would have gone with the sharp "wedgebuster" blade, because everyone knew End Game was going with a wedge. I expected it to be similar to the first Witch Doctor fight, probably without the final massive hit (because that was luck) although it would have had similar hits, and End Game would win.
With Lock Jaw v Capt. Shred., I expected Lock Jaw to use the plow and knock CS around the arena and slow it down, and then attack with the spinner. After doing that a few times, they would get the flip.
The final fight they confirmed was Bloodsport v Skorpios, and I expected a bunch of hits, and Skorpios to pin Bloodsport a few times. Bloodsport would eventually hit the wheels and kill Skorpios.
I think Tombstone was trying out a new blade. And yeah Ray should've used his heaviest black blade.
During the episode axe backwards did confirm that they had flamethrowers

Battlebots officially announced the bounty hunter episodes on facebook. This is a seperate "show" that (I guess) will feature the bounty event. Unfortunately this is *ONLY & EXCLUSIVELY* on discovery+ (yes, every fucking channel is now jumping into the paid streaming services), when I found about discovery+, I literally rolled my eyes thinking what a fucking greedy ass system, and crossing my fingers hoping battlebots won't be a part of this. Not only is the bounty hunter episodes locked behind a pay wall but this (apparently, don't quote me on this) takes up 12 hours of the total 40 hours we were given. Meaning if you're a poor bastard, too bad you only get 14 episodes, 28 hours and have to pay extra for the rest.
What a fucking scum. Like apple+, disney+, amc+, discovery+, c'mon man this is honestly getting ridiculous.

@@hex1044 in the article, black widow vs skorpios is confirmed. Also they mention icewave, SOW, and you know who is making an appearance there.
I'm not mad because discovery is doing this, I'm mad because like almost every channel is following this bs trend. Like this is just literally the companies being so greedy that they'll do anything to get our wallets out of our pockets. Not to mention, the people who are willing to pay extra just to see it will spoil it to us, so that's another slap in the face.
The worst part is that some people *cough* *cough* SamElliot64 *cough* *cough* are defending this system. They're ok paying for extra just to see the other 12 hours. And that's not a good thing because if we accept this system & people actually buys in instead of boycotting it, discovery is just gonna keep doing this. And who knows, maybe battlebots s6, only the fight card will be available on t.v. but the top 32 bracket, you'll have to pay extra to find out the giant nut winner.
This news ruined my day and I refuse to give another cent to this bs system because I don't support, even if I can't see you know who.

I think the reason that it is seven fights is that they are all likely to go to the judges, as opposed to last week where they were nearly all KOs

I hear about some _thing_ where you can buy the season on Amazon prime video using an Amazon gift card, however that gift card *_must_* be paid for using a credit or debit card issued by a US bank. Unfortunately our usual RUclips hero from Russia (possibly) is not uploading this seasons episodes.
