Nah. The quality of the field was still amazing this season. Anyone who got to the final 16 was elite levels of quality and the four fights from there to win the nut were tough as nails whichever bracket you were in.
As a Biteforce fan I actually like that they won't compete in 2020 because: -the health of the team members is priority # 1 -new robots will have a chance to shine -the fact that Paul has one entire season to observe the new meta and learn from the successes and mistakes of the others should be scarier than an approaching nuke for the others

I always thought that the moment COVID-19 broke out across the world, things were just going from not just bad but to EXTREME worst. I kind of knew that because it's all starting again, most international teams wouldn't be competing like Ripper, Orion, Cobalt, Orby Blade, Death Roll, Minotaur, Black Dragon and Pardon My French. For other bots that weren't competing like Blacksmith, Bombshell, Yeti and Bronco which is understandable due to most of their pure luck. But "Oh my lord", I couldn't believe Bite Force not competing, this means that it opens up a much easier path for bots like Tombstone, Lock Jaw, Sawblaze and of course Witch Doctor, pretty much the title is overall anyone's for the taking.
Battlebots is a huge commitment. It takes a long time for UK teams to ship their bots and actually compete at Battlebots (maybe three weeks?). This year it was even longer because of quarantine. Since Battlebots was rescheduled as well, a lot of international teams either had other commitments such as work or just didn’t feel safe leaving the country.
So many missing 😥 but I'm happy they still managed to have 60+ teams and robots, as long as there's spectacle I'll be watching! Also I'm a little glad that Bite Force isn't competing 😂 I love the bot and the team but it was starting to feel boring since it was always winning one way or another
Yeah I think it’s amazing that they still managed to get hold of 60+ bots last minute! It is unfortunate that a lot of teams won’t be here, but with a lack of Bite Force and SOW and DeathRoll etc., maybe some of the new bots could do really well!
Sad so many top notch bots aren't going to make it but it's battlebots and still going to be amazing! Will be interesting seeing so many new bots and teams, could breathe new life into the show, could end up having a soft reboot vibe.

Johnathan the beast Well, WD has beaten Tombstone before and so has rotator. Sawblaze and Perfect Phoenix have also shown that they’re capable of doing so. Fusion also has many ways to counter Tombstone. I’m not sure who will win but I don’t think it will be Tombstone personally
11:15 *UPDATE* On their facebook page, they made an official update on the status on Yeti. The team made the announcement that they unfortunately don't have any future plans currently for yeti. From the look of things, that sound like Yeti won't be competing in the near future battlebots season. They never said yeti was retired for good, it was just that the team is very busy and won't have time to work on yeti or participate in near future seasons. On a personal level, that just sucks because I like Yeti, they are one of the few elites I like and they always put on a good show. I wanted to see him fight other big name bots like minotaur, sawblaze, BRONCO, sow, or .... idk .... um... rotator. But let's hope that Yeti will return in the long distance future. (DISCLAIMER: anything can change so if Yeti decides to return in s6, I'll delete this comment)
It’s a six-episode BattleBots spin off show available on Discovery Plus. Actually I believe it’s also premiering on the actual Discovery Channel this week. Icewave and Bronco both appear, as well as some robots we didn’t see properly in the main season

Funny I always wanted them to lose! Just didn't like the weeb thing either. Now I'm more 'cultured' in Battlebots viewing I can appreciate how difficult it is for a lifter is to be successful and will definitely be a fan going forward.
Poor Duck didn't get a mention! Great video though thanks. Even months later its a brilliant reminder that there's still loads of good bots that could improve the field even more. The depth of the field in Battlebots is just amazing now to be honest.

As soon as I heard the news of no Bite Force, I was shocked. But excited at the same time. Now there is going to be a new champion. My money’s on Witch Doctor, but my parents are saying Whiplash, and my friend is going with Tombstone.
Tombstone being in means there is a chance of it winning again, which I really hope it doesn’t so we can get a new champion. WD is cool but I want some different finalists, and this year is a golden opportunity for that. I am excited too!
Biteforce 'clone' won :p I thought it was going to be a Hydra vs End Game final. My heart wanted Hydra but my head said End Game because it has all the ingredients that made Biteforce so fearsome.

As I've said elsewhere, no matter which team wins BattleBots 2020, the achievement will be viewed as a lesser one due to the missing contenders, in exactly the same way that the medals won at the boycotted Moscow and Los Angeles Olympic Games were devalued by political wrangling. Postponing BattleBots 2020 for a year would have made better sense. Containing the COVID-19 situation is not about keeping young, strong, not-at-risk individuals safe with facemasks and distancing; it's about denying the virus they may already be carrying access to new hosts and stopping them spreading it to vulnerable members of society. But I suppose infants, the chronically sick and the elderly are expendable. Sending fit and otherwise healthy kids back to school as though there's nothing wrong is a rash and stupid idea because it keeps the virus in circulation and spreads it to homes and neighbourhoods that were previously clean. There's no more effective way to transmit a contagious disease than through children. Coughs and sneezes spread diseases - that's what I was told as a kid. Remember the rats who spread the fleas that carried the Black Death? Remember those cheeky little outbreaks of bubonic plague in the Middle Ages? Rats were carriers just like today's healthy human rug-rats (and roboteers) are. Oh, they weren't too badly affected themselves, but they ensured by their actions that the plague bacillus stayed in circulation and thrived. That just makes things worse by infecting other computers. I wish they'd agreed to put things off for a year.
It is unfortunate that certain groups of people are being treated as expendable and maybe the world has tried to rush back into normality too quickly (obviously I'm not qualified to make a judgement on any of this). But after all, competing on BattleBots is a choice and also a risk. Many teams who could've been competing have pulled out because of concerns over their safety, and those who are competing are doing so at their own risk. I understand what you're saying and I do agree with it to an extent - but a worrying amount of fans have been saying that they will not be watching this season. Whether we agree with it or not, BattleBots is going ahead, and unless we support this season, there won't be another season where we get to see all of the teams who originally applied competing. I think that we have to support what we have.
As the super sayan God, they should have their fight card 4 opponent as tombstone, whiplash, witch doctor, & maybe gigabyte? (It was originally huge & biteforce but obviously one isn't coming and the other I'm not sure if he's confirmed)
It's a real shame most of the foreign robots will not be in this year, but at least they are all getting automatic places in 2021 should it happen!
