Hi there Fun Going Fast, i have question. I bought a 2024 yfz 450r SE and i am looking to buy an exhaust. If i buy the HMF exhaust and connect the fuel optimizer and leave it to factory settings, would there be any issues? I saw in your video from a while back, the yfz 450 that you had ( i think you sold it already) you installed an hmf exhaust slip on with the optimizer. If i get the 4.1 FMF exhaust full system, would i need a fuel optimizer ? Or can i just install the exhaust and nothing damages. If i were to buy the hmf optimizer along with the full hmf exhaust, leave it to factory settings? Which exhaust would you recommend ?
Excellent questions. If you look up the HMF manuals for their exhausts they recommend a fuel optimizer for the slip on or full exhaust (with header pipe). I have owned a YFZ 450X EFI that had a Big Gun Eco dlip on muffler (you can see/hear it on my channel)with no tuner and I had no issues. I also owned a Can Am Renegade 500 with a Big Gun Eco slip on, no tuner and had no issues. But for what its worth HMF does recommend their tuner with any HMF exhaust. And they have recommended base settings for their tuner with their exhaust thats comes with the tuner. But I was never able to get the initial throttle tip in (first 25% or so) on mine to get smoothed out. Even trying a few different settings. A lot of people consider the HMF tuner one of the cheaper tuners but I wasn’t interested in dropping over $1,000 for the tuner and exhaust together. Barkers seems to have really good reviews but their Big 3 Package is $1,400. So trade offs. Sorry for the long answer and hope this helps somewhat. Good luck!
Preach it brother!
Haha. Thanks! Got to spread the word.
Brown mtn?
Good eye!
