Both of them at 38 mph is plenty quick for everyday use , especially if your on dirt track or gravel road . The faster you go the more damage your going to do if you lose control. It’s tempting to make them go as fast as they can , you just have to be able to accept the consequences if things go wrong . I always try to make buggies that I don’t have an attachment to go fast . The bad thing is after I build them and put all that time and effort in them I’m attached to them . Great video Glenn
So right mate , I have an ultima with a 5turn ezy run combo. It hit 75 k's and I backed off, had plenty more but I love this old ultima. I'm sure it will do 90 . But I'm attached to it and it's a beautiful buggy . If it was the infraction I wouldn't be so worried but yeah ya
Wow Egress sounds cool like a jet engine and the Durga so quiet all you hear is the road noise from the tires. Another great video. Thanks for sharing.
Ace vid Glenn. Those two bugs run so smoothly. IMO you might be better just keeping them 2s, ( as God intended 😉😂👍 ) cos they’re quick enough already! 💪👍 Wes, Liverpool, UK
been going mad on buying during this lockdown glen just bought the re-re Blackfoot as was on sale also picked up an axial UMG10 also was onsale when you get 20%off its hard to knock it back so theres another two additions to the RC Car Collection, and even if it does land me in the doghouse it is well worth it , loved watching this run 3s video and as long as you dont run the cars hard and non stop they should be ok busting out a few laps on the 3s but the egress is just awesome just in the way it tracks, you can see its like a bullet and straight as an arrow , great videos as always bud , hope to see more beasts real soon :-)
I run my Durga on 3S as standard using a Castle Mamba Max Pro and NC1406-4600Kv. I chose that setup after watching a speedrun here on RUclips where they used a 5700 instead. I usually run it on a small semicircle field originally intended for shot put. I've made three updrades, the slipper clutch (set up exactly as Tamiya instructs), ceramic balls in the diffs, and universals. Nothing has broken through running so far.
you talked about "tuning in" the steering on these for tarmac, that is so true, I can't go full out with my VQS, because it gets squirly, and it's the just a superstock 23T or whatever, I'll bet some toe in would help, instead of neutral
I have an Egress and install a brushless motor, it was really cool buggy great suspension, nice look and very manageable control. thanks for the video.
So I come from the days when 35mph was incredibly fast for an rc. For the Durga, I would take a “dialing in” approach. Experiment with right height, toe in, etc. might make for a cool little video. Then if you feel like ramping it up go for it! Awesome video as always
Brushed one went good! when you do these speed runs try coating the tires with a light coat of WD40 let it kind of soak in and then go do the speed runs the tires should grip much better for you.
TAMIYA Legends I just don’t get how the Durga run the same speed🤔🤔 it should have been heaps quicker lol, you need to do that speed run again in your own time or make I quick one on the Durga speed run
I like it! I once accidentally burnt my tamiya grp 3forward2reverse mechanical speed control while driving in a downpour,wd40 dispersed water but is also very flammable:( lol
Cracking video and comparisons. Interesting similarities with totally different drive trains there to. I’d have automatically assumed a bit more out of the Durga with belt drive. Great demonstration of just how capable the Egress really is. I reckon Tamiya should do a TRF version with a few tweaks, instead of plastic gear housings go graphite reinforced.... Love it!
Well three years have gone by since you did this and while that’s a while the tech that I tried out for a hot, 2S setup in my 22X4 was getting well over 50MPH, 8T, lots of boost progressively kicking in above 10K RPM on the motor. hobbywing Xerun adds some finesse to tweaking more poop out of any motor and frankly even at 8T was just too damn fast. It would begin to torque roll as boost kicked in and that’s terrifying to correct for when you’re already going fast. Anyways, I hope that you found a sweet combo of ESC and Kv combos and kept it simple at 2S for the weight savings. Either of your guys there should haul buttocks when tuned in. Cheers from HI 😊
Great Video again, I think it perhaps confirms what I've been thinking. I put a hobbywing 4000kv brushless system in my Top Force and with 3s it kind of took the fun out of it, I think that would be equivalent to 8.5t. 2s is still more than quick enough. I've also got a runner DF01 with the BZ motor and I think I find that more fun, it's probably my skill level but I always think I'm going to smash the Top Force into something. I do think that the Tamiya 10.5t is a bit weak though.
Great vid once again, just wondered what pinion and spur you have in Durga? In process of installing 9t brushless into my tt02b and wondering what spur and pinion to run.
Do the slipper up on 3s durga as your loosing acceleration and could possbly melt the spur gear, but then again 3s maybe will be too much for it, there is lots of plastic bits to get hot or break on that model. If you want the buggy to be more able to take the power you will probably need to throw blue aluminium hop ups at it.
Excellent 🤩👊🏻 No I’m not planning too get the TC-01, I have a sneaky feeling that they will do a MS version in the future 🤔🤷🏼♂️ That’s the one I want if it happens 🤩👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends txs, and btw I would keep the durga as it was in your previous videos. It was so smooth it really stood out. Wouldn't want to change that.
I bought the Egress black :). Looking into electronics. Was thinking of getting a brushless sensored 13.5T motor. Running on 2s lipo. Seeing this vid, should i get 10.5T. I don't want the egress to wheely, I have my cheaper dt03 for that. Cheers for suggestions.
I put the Absima Brushless Eco Thrust in my Neo Scorcher and tried to use a 3s lipo, I popped 2 motors. Any idea what the problem is? It runs great on a 2s?
Hi Glen, Egress looks awesome! May i ask what is needed to make those wheels fit the Egress? i've got rear 51321 and front 51320 white dish wheels but they have different fitment patterns to the standard Egress wheels, fronts have a small hex and rears have space for a pin. I hope i've made sense, any help would be much appreciated, keep up the good work!
You really don't need top speed for "race" buggies. The 2WD buggy I race tops out at 30mph on a 17.5 motor and I can only hit that on the long straight on the track. 4WD can handle a little more speed because they can start and stop faster. For having fun in parking lots, I wouldn't go much faster. Higher speed = Faster crashes. :) Nice runs, the cars look great out there.
OK so my Egress Black arrives tomorrow and I need to choose a motor/esc combo. Considering GT Sport tuned with Tamiya ESC but also considering brushless so I can go to 3S. Can someone recommend a brushless motor and ESC combo for the Egress?
Yeah I think all Tamiya spares right now are like Gold dust, hopefully with the situation getting better we’ll start to see some stock showing up 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hi glen got a question for you did tamiya ever update the shocks for the rough rider mine leaking even with them turned upside down they still leak oil out
Is the gearing the same?? Odd that they are the same speed. The Durga may be losing a bit as you’re always fighting to keep it straight. The Egris runs perfectly!
Not sure what the differences are in the final ratios, there both kit set up. Buy your spot on I need to get into the Durga steering and see what’s going on there 😬🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for watching Alan 👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends shame you sold that Transpeed as well then. I know brushless is so much more efficient but they're pretty soulless, there's nothing quite like the sound of a hot brushed motor

Watching the vid I would.say there the same the difference is the turf with the brushless is more efficient I think as for speed try them on 3s off road I bet you wont like it way to much I think and you'll be spinning out more
