It's really inspiring to see someone bring out the value in an older piece of equipment and put it to work; hopefully avoiding debt and huge costs and stress along the way. nice.

Have you seen MartyT, the only machine i'v seen him NOT bring back from the dead is an abandoned 80 year old tractor:-ruclips.net/video/cMceHu-piOw/видео.html and that was becuse it was to rusted (holes n the wrong places).
otherwise he has got everything started, and I have trouble starting my couple of year old strimmer.

I worked in Construction for a least 3 decades. I met an old welder who gave a pointer or two. He told me, when using a torch or always tilt the cutting head in the direction you are cutting. That way, you will preheat the surface you are going to cut next. Love your show.

This is a New Holland rebadged as a Deere. The suction screen under seat before charge pump is a common issue.
Otherwise excellent machines I have two L 785 never failed.
Use 10w-30 Motor oil in hyd system.
Water gets into oil from top chain case covers. Change oil alot and grease axel s every day .
These older skid steer are simple no computer no teir 4 emissions.
I sold my new Bobcat got two older New Holland s .
Also I welded a new style universal adapter plate right on existing one. . Works perfectly.
Get a 4n 1 clam bucket with teeth amazing what you can do with it.
I never got stuck never needed Tracks either.
    Excellent work Thanks

Like Andrew, so happy you brought this machine back to life, and thinking that an extra metal support in the middle of the bucket is a great idea, also reworking the side of the bucket was a good idea, and made better use of it all around...personally I love old machines , old cars, anything old, and to work with them to bring them back for what they were used for and keep them working, is awesome! Will NEVER understand people that buy work machines brand new, then never take care them, just run them in the ground, throw them out... with just regular proper care of maintenance of them, they will keep giving and working.. Just gotta WANT to keep them running and working for ya..The rebuilding and extra strength you gave that bucket, spending some time on it to make it workable, was awesome....OMG and the spray pain... sure you not related to Andrew?? Good find, and great work getting it going so well!
Don't think anyone has mentioned this - because there is a continuous chain from front to back wheel each side, it is quite critical that the front and back tyres are the same diameter. Otherwise there can be excessive strain on the chain as one wheel is turning slower than the other. Yes the tyres will skid (if the surface is loose enough), but it is unnecessary wear and strain. On your machine it looks like the RHS tyres are unevenly worn.
You might even get people who say to put two better tyres on the front and more worn ones on the back - and then you over-stress both drive trains. Better to have the tyres matched for wear/circumference from front to back each side.

    • @trentarbeau8753
      @trentarbeau8753 4 года назад

Mort Q, that’s some great information. I’d of never thought about that, keeping the tires the same to keep stress off of the chain. Thanks for sharing that info.

Good fix. I own a new holland 454 which was the same machine as a Jd 570. I got mine cheap with a blown engine. Proceeded to swap in a kubota engine in place of the 2cyl gasser. Rebuilt all the cylinders and converted it over to a bobcat skid steer. Mines only rated for 1100 but it’s a smaller machine. Into mine for 2550 total. These are super HD machines and that was the original bucket for that machine. All the new Holland’s and JD’s if this era were like that. I converted mine to a toothed bucket, the. Got a bobcat 62” bucket for my main bucket. Next in my list is to add a third function valve and get a grapple bucket.

it doesnt have a third function built in? thats good to hear you had so little into it. That is kind of what I am always after, usually people either buy brand new, or buy used and throw parts at it to the point where they might have better bought new.

great project, great fix and it looks like you got a nice machine now. I suggest keeping an eye on the 90 degree cutout corners at the top sides of your bucket though. 90 degree cuts can tear easily and you might need to weld some plates to reinforce the sheet metal sides in those corners you cut out.

Cool to know it would work. But yeah, I think it would bother me a little. But I like to keep my stuff cleaned up and squared away. That kind of equipment costs too much money to let it "rot" away... Funny, when I made that point to a friend last week, he said "I'm too busy for that. I barely get fuel and oil in the machines". He works 60-70 hours a week (good for him getting the work) but I told him he needed to raise his prices. He looked at me as if I'd lost my mind... Thanks again Michael for the info - good to know.

my case 580B rubber tire backhoe i picked up from a town ship, that was left on an island and you get to it by a fary boat or ice road in the winter, one winter i drove out to the island just driving arounf, and there was this 580 B sitting on the side of the road with a poplar tree growing up between it, i asked around whos it was, and i was told it was the town ships, i went to the town ship shop and asked about it, they told me it dont drive, i knew what the problem was as i know these 580's i asked them how much, they told me if i get it off the island before the ice road went out, give them $500.00, this was in March, there was only maybe 2 weeks left of some what safe road, i dragged it with my 5 ton to shore, then paid a flat bed 500 to hall it 200 miles to my place, the town ship gave me the new like construction back tires as it had turf tires on it, for working on the island septic,, plus the service manual witch is for all 580 model, huge book, i spent a month working on it, redoing all the hoe pins and bushing, cleaned out the transmission sump, with out pulling it out, and it works great.. just wish it was 4x4, but hay you can get out of a bad spot with the hoe, i had to clean out the fuel system being it had sat for 6 years,, but it fired right up after

may have as I have shared what happened to me and what I found and know how to fix it with out pulling the transmission or any rebuild, these case 580's are a well known problem of drive stops working, and many spent thousands to rebuild or im my case on a few they scrap them,, or just park it, on a few other videos to try and help them out, and save then tons of cash, I have found none of the above needed, but on the other hand I am shooting my self in the foot, from being able to pick them up so cheap, and have them working in a weekend
