some of my fave game design is when both sides of a playing card are used. Port Royal, Bohnanza, and Uno Flip all do this, and it adds a level of depth and component reuse that I find weirdly refreshing
Thanks for doing this great video. Regarding the expansion: Contracts are introduced at the begining of the game (random 4 out of 18). Everybody can fulfill them and this makes every session more different. With the expansion you can also play it solo and cooperative.
Good, comprehensive explanation. Nice game, after a few games, play it fast! I play it with my kids , 7 and 8, the younges it a champignon. Btw, your vid about Paleo was very helpful, regards from Belgium.
I found the expansion still in shrink first in a charity shop in Leeds UK for £1.99, then picked up Port Royal at the UK Games Expo last weekend. Will play a solo this eve which I'm told works really well.
Feels like I've seen some other game on this channel before but not sure. Regardless, a good explanation of PR! Just what I needed after getting this for the kids and me this holiday 😊
This is one of the best card games IMO. I use Unterwegs to teach the basic game... then move onto the normal PR. Then I add Ein Auftrag Geht Noch for extra stuff and cooperative option. :)
Great video, I learned that the Jester triggers even when 2 same-coloured ships are turned face-up, the rulebook translated in my language missed that line of text... :( Also learned about the possibility to repeal ships even if they are not the 2nd in a colour suit, and learned that the game ends after a full "active player" turn. Thanks! ;)
Great video , made me realize so much about this game , I wanted to ask if you can put subtitles so as to have the translation , and even clearer explanations . Congratulations to all participants Thank you guys!
Thanks again for another great playthrough. I had been on the fence with getting this. I'm actually not going to get it as the final round or two feel like an invitation for king making, especially when there are two people vying for the win with others being essentially eliminated from contention. But knowing that is a big help and I always love what your group does with this series. Keep them coming!
Dave is seriously alpha-ing like he's in a co-op game this episode. Every person's turn, he is advising. I get that it's a complicated game and he was teaching it, but it was frustrating to watch (though they specifically talk about it being simple and BGG rates its weight at just 1.5...!)! He's not done this for a while. To me this game seems a little bit confusing and over-complicated (to me anyway.. maybe you need to be able to see the cards more clearly to understand it better). I'm glad you guys enjoyed it though.
I disagree. He is teaching the game to new players and trying to help them along with the viewers to understand the game. Aka the reason for the channel. 👍
Maybe someone can clarify something for me. Say you have the two sword guy and you repel one for the 2 could repel another card on the same turn with same swords?
Love watching you guys! One question. If Dave took his turn and got to 12 and was the last player, why did it start at Lincoln for the last round? Why did you skip Nikki and why wouldn't it have just stopped at Dave since you all had the same number of turns? Thanks and keep the videos coming!
Dario Camacho I was talking about Zirkus Flohcati or Circus Flohcati by Reiner Knizia. I really do love that game but it is much simpler than this game. -Lincoln
Lincoln, you lousy drifter…… ;-) so you´ve been in Hamburg with Nikki and didn´t tell me anything. I would have you invited to my house to have a nice match with you and Nikki of free choice of my collection…… You´ve been in the Miniatur Wunderland? Fantastic, isn´t it? The next time you´re around let me know; don´t wanna miss the opportunity to host some members of GameNight!
+Knolzus Miniatur Wunderland is awesome. We were there for about 4 hours and I could have stayed much longer. Our trip to Hamburg was unfortunately short and we were there during the German Reunification holiday so many places were closed. We were happy that Miniatur Wunderland was open. Thanks for the note and for watching.
Yet another stellar playthrough 🥰 Ordered the 'Big Box' version while watching 🥰 Love this show - Stellar work all 🥰

Thanks to you, my lovely friend bought the big box edition for me🎉😊
I love Alex Pfisters games. There is so much brain power in all of his games.

Alexander Pfister bought the expansion for the game and it adds so much with so little. Love it!

Love port Royal! It's an instant classic. The expansion makes it even better.
+tony dale jr i Know, right !?
+Seb Patry I just saw my post my kids had my phone

Thank you for the play through! (Maybe you'll be able to do the expansions too)
This is a great episode. I'm really excited to get my hands on the Big Box edition that's being released Dec 2021 according to Pegasus Spiele!
I love game night! Another great episode!!

Just got home from playing this for the first time at my game group and see you have the new video up :) A good day!

Thank you for the amazing video
LOL at the name change at 0:54, or lack thereof!

Big mistake. This is a great game
We play this game a lot after work!
Great episode! Love when you or more of you coordinate your shirts to the theme of the game. Where do you guys get them?
loved this game and you guys
I was able to score this game at a decent price and the search for the expansion continues. Love this episode and the game. Love the show.

I believe the jester does not trigger if you are the active player.

+Nick Edwards I was thinking the same thing. This would drive me insane.
Yeah, I've watched good reviews of the game... but everytime I watch it being played, it looks very complicated. Not sure about getting it
jing713 it’s not complicated at all. It looks that way because they’re all gamers playing it but this is simple enough for non gamers as well.
If the game takes almost 20 mins to explain than is it a light game?
I disagree. He is teaching the game to new players and trying to help them along with the viewers to understand the game. Aka the reason for the channel. 👍
Does this mean Port Royal will be in the US market soon?
Maybe someone can clarify something for me. Say you have the two sword guy and you repel one for the 2 could repel another card on the same turn with same swords?
Yes, but you have to repel each one as it is turned from the deck.
lol You guys are so serious when you game 😆
Thank you.
Am I correct in thinking that Nikki should have received a coin for her Jester around the 45:00 mark after Rusty took the red 3 coin ship?
+Jake Davis Yes, you are correct.
Cool just wanted to make sure I was interpreting that rule correctly!
Love watching you guys! One question. If Dave took his turn and got to 12 and was the last player, why did it start at Lincoln for the last round? Why did you skip Nikki and why wouldn't it have just stopped at Dave since you all had the same number of turns?

Cathy Zampogna You are correct. They should have just stopped playing after Dave got To 12 points as the Last player of the round.
Dave got to 12 on Nikki's turn, not his own (Nikki was the card flipper.) Chk 49:30
What game does Lincoln mention during the discussion at the end of the video? I can't understand him but he did say it was one of his favorite games.
Dario Camacho I was talking about Zirkus Flohcati or Circus Flohcati by Reiner Knizia. I really do love that game but it is much simpler than this game. -Lincoln

Has this game not had an American release? I don't see it anywhere really, other than a third party seller at Amazon.
+Wesley Harp No American release yet.
