    In programming we call this rubber ducking. You ask someone for help and when you talk through the issue for them you figure the solution without them opening their mouth.

      Same, when your worst fear comes true you’re also liberated from it. Didn’t know this truth until it happened, it’s a strange feeling.

    • @Heauxsome
      @Heauxsome 2 месяца назад +7

      That also sets you up to always be in crisis mode. You'll seek out pain bc your brain will crave the dopamine hit that comes from pain relief or the sense of accomplishment that comes from problem solving. I'd suggest liberating yourself from that feedback loop by practicing sitting with the issue without immediately or obsessively trying to solve it. And by simply giving your brain other relaxing or light problems to solve/focus on like what picture do I want to color, what show to watch first, what new topic to learn about or which self care routine makes the most sense right now, etc.

    I see an analogy here on the statement:
    “Bad things are going to happen soon anyways.”
    Reminds me of gambler’s mentality. “The ball hasn’t landed on X for the last 2 hours, so I will bet on X.”
    Because the expectation is not if, it’s when. I’d love to explore this (weak) connection between probability and anxiety to see if there’s something meaningful there.

    I find that whats said here in the end of the video so weird i dont understand how such things show Progress because before I went to my first therapy i already knew what was wrong with me and i knew exactly where it came from what moments of my childhood caused my mental illnesses and i even knew what i could try and do to better me and my illnesses but it never gave me anything knowing these things and knowing what could help me dont helped me doing these things its like the same with my addiction i know i am a heroin addict, i know why i am a heroin addict and i know how to get clean but that all dont helps me doing the things to get clean i just cant, i know what to do and how to do it but i just cant do them so i never understood how knowing such things can help you its the same for me with speaking to a therapist i never understood how that should help me because i already know all my illnesses and where they came from and i already talked with people about the things that happened to me but that just dont gives me anything and its so hard to make people understand me its the same with my depression, i know i dont smell good and i want to shower but i just cant do it so yeah i dont know if i am just very very different then everyone else or if i just overlook something here because like i said i dont know how such things can help people because i am at that point since a long time now where i know what illnesses i have, where they come from and what i could help me with these illnesses but i just cant get me to do these things and even when i try these things they dont really help like i tried many different medications and i was by a psychotherapist for years and tried all the things he told me but nothing ever really helped or changed me 🤔😅😕

    • @thrill102
      @thrill102 2 месяца назад +1

      What? That’s literally the opposite intention of this video. Therapist are educated professionals that have experience and knowledge about what is affecting people and how certain mental health issues can materialize in your actions. Therapy is definitely essential to working on yourself.

    • @maggi_tael
      @maggi_tael 2 месяца назад +1

      @@thrill102 I know it wasn't the point of the video but this actually works for me, I healed myself of an 8 year old depression (I was 20 when I finally started feeling better), at the same time I did a good job in lowering my social anxiety (although since I'm very likely autistic I don't think I'll ever fully get rid of it), and looking back, I can see that my technique used the principles of CBT, even though I had never heard of that before. I treated myself without therapy and although I know this will work for a very limited amount of people, and even then, in a limited amount of problems, it did work for me, and the reason is pretty much illustrated in the video
