FANTASTIC ALBUM HERE. and very underrated too in my opinion. This whole album delivers. Not one bad song off this great album. With outstanding guitar work and guitar sound and guitar solos. . Good times. Good memories. CRANK IT UP LOUD. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I went to this concert in 1981. One of my TOP 10 concerts of all time. I never really cared for Jefferson Airplane. Jefferson Starship started to head in my direction, and then Freedom at Point Zero nailed it for me. This album pounded it right through the board. Love it!!
I haven't heard this song Since early 90's . Always loved this era 😎
Had this album when it came out back 1981 great album it still sounds good in 2024,
You know it. This album wrote the sound track for the good times of my life in 1981.
A most underrated LP. A personal FAVE. Reminds me of camping trips on MT Baldy, CA. Swimming in the waterfall lake. Diving off the rocks. Aaaaaaah good times. Mt Bady Southern California. Thanks, Bill Carter , Tommy Carter, the US Marine Corp Camp Pendleton, and most of all my stepdad Dr. Jon Sanabria for putting up with me in my teenage years. Cheers!
Mt Baldy, was awesome!! Loaded up the van, pickup some" brewskys", stop off at Jeff's & pickup a couple o' doob's, ha ha hey bud let's party. Oh jeez I'm feeling buzzed just thinking about it. We usually stopped at the Firehouse by the Dam. Plenty of fun to be had. 🎉
Their best and most hard rocking album. Impossible to find this on CD now.
I have this CD. I think it is a Columbia House CD. I have had many cassettes. It is really a great album. Craig Chaquico is really a great player, and Grace sounds excellent backing Mickey, I love this album since I was 16..still do
I found this on a double cd with nuclear furniture on a 2009 Fridays music release it still might be available
It's not so tough to find on Internet but hard to find in record stores around a person!!
Between white rabbit and we built this city. Great to not so much. This is the Pinnacle of their in-between. Damn I love this..
I'm lucky to have this on CD 📀. And in mint condition. Love this album. . This is a banger. . Rock on. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Jefferson Starship is most unique and transforming in that their lyrics generally tell people to wake up and learn to love each other. Songs of life pointing out the deceptions and impending troubles in the near future. Boy they hit the nail on the head every time trying to simply open people's eyes and in a subtle way, telling them to take action and do something to fix it. Sadly nobody listened. Their allegories are pure in nature no esoteric themes of mind control to muddy the simple message of humanity. The truth we are all the same but those at the top will do everything in their power to keep us down. We did a horrible job folks let's hope we still have time to correct our direction of possible DOOM.
"Outside 12 year olds are carrying machine guns..." Song lyrics or prophecy?
"Jefferson Starship's ‘Modern Times’ brought the return of Grace Slick, who sang lead on a handful of songs. But it was hardly a step into the past. Like the title - and album cover - suggests, the record embraced all sorts of futuristic elements, from the decidedly hard rock of 'Free' to the synths that are sprinkled throughout." - Ultimate Classic Rock
🙏🙏🙏
she only sang a duet with mickey on strangers on this album
Vocalist, Mickey Thomas was so excellent on this record. The addition of Craig Chaquico on guitar, Ansley Dunbar on drums make it pretty stellar as well.
@@charlie50201She sang with Micky and sang back-up on other songs.
I much prefer Mickey Thomas' voice.
Outro solo on ‘Save Your Love’ is outstanding. Flows well with peaks and valleys and I love the ‘starting a chainsaw’ double stop, repeating bend he does.
I 💖 Jefferson Starship
The first 2 songs are some of my favorite from the 80's. Mary is also a great deep track.
This was a great album and I was so excited to see them tour . We saw them at Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh PA in 81 or 82 .Great show.
Summer of 82 saw the same tour and it was fire!
@@autk no it was the 1981 Modern Times tour at Stanley Theater.
@@daviddillinger4494 I saw them at the Fox in ATL in 1981...I thought it was 82...long time ago but just researched it and it was 1981... regardless it was a great show.
@@autk I saw them at South Mountain Reservation, an outdoor gig in West Orange, NJ. 38 Special opened. Great concert!!! I wish I could get a recording of that concert.
@@michaelkucinski4021 they definitely had the magic then and were on a roll... terrific sounding band with a great sound engineer at that time..wish I had a recording of the Fox show in 81!
Stranger is a rocker! Grace looks like the Bride of Frankenstein in the music video.
Definitely a HOT Bride of Frankenstein !!
Excellent album!
Know some of the songs, never heard of the album. Great
Great memories of this album!
Beautiful
So interesting to observe their continued progression from the Airplane 'sound'....
A fantastic group !
Aynsley Dunbar is the man on the drums.
Ya he is
Yeah my hi school friend Rich Aubrey was all pumped up on steroids ,Ainsley's personal body guard
This is a masterpiece of aor and the classic Jefferson starship sound Mickey Thomas totally owns this album and Craig chaquico is the star of this album
Always a fresh sound and trail blazers unique ❤
a really spirited album (along with others by starship) that critics somehow don't like.
Critics never like being criticized. They probably got all butthurt by Stairway to Cleveland. Too bad. No one ever erected a statue in honor of a critic. 🙂
Great Album. 🎶🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💎
Beatiful songs from before
Awesome. ❤
Rock on!
I was a per sonal trainer at Telegraph Hill club San Francisco, when Ainsley joined the club

You can still get a Delorean, and they sell the flux capacitor at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. Seriously. Check it out. LOL.
Where are you people coming from... I must be lost..can you please help me find my way home!!???
Not to take away from Find your way back or Familiar Stranger, but Save your love should have made the FM airways too when this album came out. My favorite track!!
It was played on some FM stations when it was new.
Terrific, stormer of an album. Starship's best - they were on great form here - despite the awful cover. Do us all a favour and reissue this, Winds of Change and Nuclear Furniture as a 3 CD package.
Flash back to 9th grade. Very cool.
Cool seventies, Strong BAND. I like, I just do not use hallucinogenic smiles..THANKS
Freedom at Point Zero then Modern Times. What a double whammy. Their best 2 albums IMHO…and alas their first Dragonfly. All their albums were good though.
They came to Carowinds(border of NC and SC, basically Charlotte) 1986 or 87.
Idk if anyone has seen this I always see this channel when searching "starship" looking for the spacex rocket great music tho
Their Earth album still has an airplane feel.for example..All Night long
Some decent tracks on this album. Some sound like anthem rock. Mickys voice a definite improvement
I Was going to metion grace slick. Had the album
"MACHINE GUN...MACHINE GUN"!
I was going to mention Grace Slick. Had the Album
*heyy what's happened to your website !!! 😠*
40 years had past
Que legal
Puta que pariu esse álbum é incrível eu nunca tinha ouvido mas e olha que gosto não amo os anos 80s mas ouvir este álbum foi sensacional são Paulo brasil 12/08/2022 obrigado
Woohoo! Another fan. Welcome aboard! 🙂
No 5 MODERN TIMES...
You greet mee
Kantner sounds so out of place here in the new musical direction the band is going.
His was a voice that epitomized the earlier sound of the original band. And it may not be everyone that appreciated that voice in the 80's when this LP came out. I get it. I'll always go back to Sunfighter and Dragonfly to get my Kantner fix.
He was still very much at the helm. Not a very different album than Freedom at Point Zero and the songwriting credits have him all over that one. I think Nuclear Furniture was the breaking point but even that is better than Knee Deep in the Hoopla
Fair enough. Every time a band re-invents themselves, the run the risk of alienating their current fan, but they also gain new ones. I get it.
@@sudonymh IE: Yes 90125?
@@saleconomos473 Yep. You nailed it. Prior to the '70s, I didn't really like Yes, but my interest started with three of their songs. When 90125 was released, I finally really liked them.
Hello
💗✨✨
Supernatural
Second
I wanted tto listen but too many F- ing commercials, EVEN in the middle of a song. Isnt worth it.
I cant walk away for a second or do anything else. at least radio is better than that and I'm not going to pay to listen. I have far more important things to do and pay for in this economy. .
Irish in Ireland!!
well good "album" caused the "mafia" to move in on me. I don't worry much about it tho. they wish me to say that I am ever so happy I have no real friends any longer. God bless Grace Slick in terms of health. I am "long gone." Got involved with Indians from India/South Africa/hare ksrnas too. Will go up Dan Murphey buy some Bolwer Rin and hope to Christ I am an alcoholic! jay jagat?
That looks like that trans beauty youtuber on the cover lol 😆
Oh gosh what's zer name?
RUBBISH!
U suck
Yet here you are with no life but to make negative comments on legitimately good music. It really must suck to be you.
Grace Slick wrote “White Rabbit” in 1966 in one day, that one hit single made her a multi millionaire and set her up for LIFE! That one song is regarded by everyone who ever wrote anything good from the mid sixties onwards ( from Led Zeppelin to Santana to modern bands ) she’s influenced everything, when you can accomplish something of that significance then “maybe” you’d have a voice..... until then, crawl back into your little useless hole & piss off!
Nope
You are so wrong sir 😁😁😁😁
