What a mental Direct if you're a Mario fan, we're eating better now than during the 35th anniversary lol. Still can't get over that PM TTYD HD is real man. SpyxFamily game, Another Code and F-Zero 99 were my non-Mario highlights, a very solid Direct imo
So refreshing to see your positive reactions to these announcements. So many other RUclipsrs I follow seemed to be so negative on everything, even going so far as to laugh about the Nintendo Museum announcement and complaining that it was included at all. Thank you for being you!
I've seen a few reactions to this DIrect, and it's really interesting to see lots of folks who have completely forgot about the ORIGINAL Mario vs Donkey game on the GBA
I watched the direct before having to go to work, but was super pumped! The Mario vs. Donkey Kong game looked great, I picked up Horizon Chase Turbo 2 and it should be downloaded when I get home later. Super Mario RPG, Thousand Year Door, Detective Pikachu. There's definitely a few things I'm missing that were also straight fire!
Incredible Direct. Tho the inside part of me kinda wishes that Thousand Year Door also had like a + Luigi Adventures on the title because I want to play Luigi adventures xD Oh well, I'm glad I can finally play the game.
Love how TTYD remake has a mix between the original and the more modern style, keeping the original rigged design but giving them and the graphics a more paper-like vibe
First of all, it was 17 years ago, so he was, what, five? Also, the series changed *drastically* in the following games, so it's easy to not see this as part of that series. (Which I don't. MvDK is the followup to DK '94. I hope it sells well. I want a *new* entry in that series, not the minis.)
Ehhhh..... I don't know how to feel about this one. There was a lot of cool games, but ending on a remaster (a damn good one at that), just felt very meh. PMTYD was rumored forever ago. It looks absolutely fantastic it's coming out and going to preorder it even though I've beaten the game likes 10 times by now, but it just felt like the whole direct was "Here's a bunch of ports and remakes". The only thing I freaked out on was because during the Unicorn Overlord (is that the actual name?) I seriously thought it was a new Ogre Battle game. It really looks like one, and I'm 100% ok with it. I think I'm more taken aback by that game then anything else. It looks freaking amazing, and I can't wait for it. I was more hyped for that then anything else. God I really hope it is just a new Ogre Battle with a different name. I'll totally preoder that on every console I have. For those that don't know, it was a SNES game that was a real time Strategy RPG, where you moved units across a battlefield, and each unit was it's own party (different units gave different bonuses, and where they were placed in the party changed things). Depending on your choices, or outcomes in battle, the story could change pretty dramatically. It later turned into Tactics Ogre which more resembled FFT. However, I think the director of the series was the lead in FFT (correct me if I'm wrong). If you're an RPG fan, SRPG, Real Time SRPG fan, and haven't played Ogre Battle, seriously go out of your way to play it NOW (PS1 version is the best!). Arrrrgh. It really is one of the best RPGs out there that time has forgotten.
This direct seems to confirm Switch 2 next year. It wasn't said, but they didn't need to say it. They said it by only giving updates on old announcements and theThe Switch will probably live on along side the successor for a year or two. The successor will have backwards compatibility but will not get new games after Metroid Prime 4, only remasters of GameCube and 3DS games that will also play on the successor while the successor gets those plus totally new games. That's my theory. The only new stuff was remakes and remasters, and that's probably going to be the norm going forward with new games going to Switch 2 and remasters being for both while the online features and updates will work with both.
There are some great games there, but this Direct just proves that Mario Wonder is the last proper Switch release as this direct was basically re-releases/remasters.
Cool, thanks for the thumbnail spoilers. Couldn’t even search for the official direct video before this showed up in my suggestions feed and spoiled the surprise.
Which is fine for a year where we already got titles like TOTK, Pikmin 4, FE Engage, not to mention the upcoming SM Wonder. This is just icing on the cake
@bregowine Very true. There were good games in the direct, don't get me wrong. But overall it was good. Not the best thing ever, but good. TTYD just takes the cake for me.
It's available on PS4, PS3 copies of Odin Sphere Leifthrasir were extremely limited and hard to find when it came out as PS4 had already taken over. That copy goes for about $75-$100, but the PS4 version is cheap and easily available.
