      Hey Chris. Thats heartfelt man....really appreciate you leaving that message. However........haha, I'm perfectly fine. Just busy with life brother. I love making videos, but time with my daughter/family is everything. So....I do what I can. What I SHOULD do is just upload without any editing. The basic editing I do takes me forever. If I was smart I would just upload the content and forget the frills. But, I enjoy the finished product and as such find myself always trying to make the next video a little bit better. Thanks again for the comment and watching.

But, as you can see tasty yellow fruit has little to do with catching some quality fish!! I think guys who say it actually know its GOOD luck, and want as few other anglers as possible taking bananas on board.

    I wish Real Prey swimbaits didn't have massive lips that catch every bit of grass. I was really hoping to like his baits. For my waters(north Texas), even throughout winter, it's just too much grass. Burrito shad is the one for me. Line tie at the nose so no lip to catch grass. Silicone durability ftw. Also, the gill at 4:20 is the crappie in gill colors just so folks know. the gill is actually a lot smaller and the tail won't kick at all unless it's swam faster. the crappie looks like it would have better action from the much larger tail.
    I always rewatch your old videos btw. You're a legend on youtube. Always good to see you post again.

      Hey Steve. How is the G2/Falcon combo for you? I know I laid out the case for it, but I always like to hear back from other with honest feedback. So, that floating gill was from trophybassbaits.com. On there now you will only find their "Dead Ringer" trout bait. E-mail them on the gill! Maybe they'll make it if there is enough interest. I got radio silence on my e-mails.

    • @Altered76
      @Altered76 Год назад

      @@KeepinItReelFishing I like the combo a lot! I use one of my favorite all time reels a Smoke SL150SPT and strait 40 or 50# Suffix 832 on it and it works just fine for me. Plenty of tip for casting and keeping the hooks pinned. Pretty well balanced and not overall heavy. And it wasnt a break the bank rod. Fishing for fun on a budget its always nice to get a decent piece of equipment at a bargin.

    • @KeepinItReelFishing
      @KeepinItReelFishing  Год назад

      Hi Thomas. I really like the Wind Tamer black. Honestly I think its my new favorite braid. I reviewed another no-fade braid maybe two years ago from Vicious. That also was a good line, but what I like about the Fins is the coating on it and its "consistency". It has the slightest amount of rigidity/body to it vs the Vicious that after time became very limp. If you ever fished Daiwa Samurai braid the Vicious eventually takes on that consistency. Its neither good nor bad, but just making the observation. Over the years though, for me, I have found that I lean toward lines that have some kind of coating and that tiny bit of rigidity. I just feel like they handle better. In terms of color retention the Fins is still just like the name suggests.....Pitch Black. No color loss that I can perceive. I know most people talk about line strength, but I have no way to quantify that, and qualitatively both these braids, and almost all braids I have even fished have been ridiculously strong, and suitably resistant to fraying. Personally, I would recommend the Fins Wind tamer. Try a spool and see what you think.

      I mess around with them a little. But there is a ton of timber that is just inches below the surface. If I use anything with hanging hooks (apart from lipped baits/crank downs), I know I'll be getting hung up a good amount. Its a risk/reward deal. This past year I used gill glides a decent amount hoping to get them to come up, but year after year in the timber they tend to respond better (in the spring) to floating baits....especially with lots of pauses.

    I've always enjoyed your videos. By coincidence, I think I may have checked your channel the day you posted this and realized you hadn't uploaded in a while. Do they have striper fishing in your area of NJ? I think you would really enjoy surfcasting for giants!

      Hey Nick - I'm not by the shore, but also not that far. I'm sure I would fall in love with it. Obviously, they have a size and power that its unlike anything I'm used to and I'm sure its addictive as heck. But, I prefer to allocate whatever time I have to the continued pursuit of a largemouth (or smallmouth) of a lifetime.

      ABSOLUTELY! I'm very much of the Big Bait philosophy, instead of strictly a swim bait philosophy. I have some models from Megabass (Big M, Grenade), Lucky Craft, and Geecrack. I'm sure your familiar that they are all right at about 4". I wish they made a 5" model.

    Great video! It looks like you got rid of your other sportspal canoe and got the squared stern model? Is there a major reason why? I’m in the market to buy one and just curious on your thoughts. I could go with either model, and I’m trying to make a decision.

    • @KeepinItReelFishing
      @KeepinItReelFishing  Год назад +1

      Thanks Carl. I actually have two. My original doubled ended S-14, and this other square stern S-15. A situation came up where I was able to get the S-15 for an impossible price, so I got it as well. But, thats the only reason...it wasn't as though the S-14 wasn't satisfactory in any way. The S-15 is really the S-16 (double ended), just with the square stern. But, in terms of increased interior size its the same as the S-16, which is to say an appreciable increase from the S-14 double ended. I always used my S-14 to fish with a friend, or bring my wife and daughter along and it worked great. But, the S-15 gives just more space for stuff and/or to move around. Also, the S-15 is ten pounds heavier than the S-14 (58lbs empty vs 68lbs). That doesn't sound like much, but in practice the added weight and length make it feel a lot heavier. I always laughed at how easy it was to load and unload my S-14 on my car, as well as carry it on my shoulder to the water.....even "hike" it short distances. The same cant be said for the larger S-15. Its doable, but I'm not laughing while doing it! Feel free to ask me any additional questions you may have on these models so as to make sure you get the one thats right for you.

      Hey Ken. Thank you very sir. Its all about that balance, right? Ya know, I still fish a fair amount (and am always recording), its just taking it all and editing it together that takes me forever. Even basic editing like mine is slow going. I should just keep the editing dead simple, but I take each video creation personally and where I want them to be just tends to take a while.

      I agree. I don't know if the current gen is using the same blank, but the model that I have hear from about 3-4 years ago is money. It slots right in between the traditional divisions of a 1-4oz and then the 2-7oz. Its a moderate-fast, which makes it pretty dynamic and the build is excellent. I would, but you see how much I upload (not much these days) and I prefer to review products that are currently available. But, if you have one and love it then its a IFYYK. Tight lines in 23' Brandon.

    Abrazex, NO!!! Stick with red label. After breaking off fish on multiple trips with abrazex leaders I had to throw it out. Red label is the strongest and most abrasion resistant flouro for leaders bar none. Save your money lol. Great vid as always, a great day when one drops. Especially when boat season is still far off here in WI

      Hey Michael - you know, a lot of people have said that. And I'm aware of the growing season difference and FL strain size. But, for me its not about the absolute size. I would take a solid NJ 9 over a Lake Baccarac 13 any day. I want a fish of two lifetimes here on my own turf. Now......if I were to catch said 9 there really isn't realistically anywhere to go from there and then yes, I'd be on that plane heading south!
