- We often make this business of choosing defensive firearms way too complicated!
Welcome to the "Hickok45 Talks" Channel. This channel is a place for me to just pontificate about random topics that somebody out there might find interesting. I will talk about firearms issues quite a lot, but I'll also exercise my license to talk about any topic I might pretend to know something about.
If you have a topic you'd like me to address, let me know. Doesn't mean I'll address it, but who knows, I might.
Thanks for your support, and I hope you'll subscribe to all three of our channels and keep up with all the brilliance here!!! :-)
/ @hickok45 Our main channel.
/ @hickok45clips Our channel where John pulls clips from our existing library of videos.
/ @hickok45talks This channel where all material is new material where I talk about one specific topic in each relatively short video. Hope you enjoy.
If you carry you gotta be in tip top shape upstairs otherwise that thing will het you into more trouble than it will get you out of.
Yes!. I know a few people that own guns, but I wouldn't trust them with walking my dog ) :
Proofreading helps you het things correct.
RUclips AI still screws up what you type, no matter your proofing skills.
A good rule I’ve heard and follow is “Don’t go anywhere with a gun that you wouldn’t go without one.”
I enjoy your porch talks and gun reviews. I think your insights and common sense perspectives about life are interesting. Keep up the good work.
Happens to be at a 4th of July gathering where some folks were shooting handguns at targets. One of the devices was like a vertical merry-go-round. It had five targets that could be knocked off and replaced. The average these folks were hitting the targets and knocking them off was two out of five. An older gentleman walked over and asked to join the fun. Using a six shot revolver, first go round he was 4 out of 5. "You got lucky old man." "Set em up again." Five out of five. He'd been watching these young people and every one of them was closing one eye. They had 9mm, .308, .22 and .38 specials. Everyone was admiring the newest models with high capacity clips. The geezer told them that they needed to learn the science of shooting and alway leave both eyes open to hit a moving target. You can't find the parallax with one eye closed. That old guy didn't even own a handgun. He had to borrow someone else's, but he knew how to shoot. We live in a world where marketing has made us believe if we just buy the newer gimmick we'll be happy.
Great video. Thank you! My grandfather always said “no good happens after 10pm” and “don’t take your pistol to town. No good will come of it”.
I recently found myself in a situation where I was at the mercy of a very aggressive and unleashed dog that charged and cornered me in a public park. I never thought stupid owners of stupid animals would remind me not to leave my home unarmed.
Hello Sir. I would enjoy a day at your range with you. I’m a former Green Beret. I’m 57 years old now. I have enjoyed watching your videos quite a bit.
Good wise words Mr. H. It is getting harder every day to be left alone, by ALL of society, be it government (all levels), bad guys, Karens in the grocery store, you name it. I agree with you on simplicity. Simple, in my mind, is associated with reliable, dependable. That might be why I like simple people.
Five shot revolver is my go to. Nothing to think about.
Generally I agree with you although I carry 1 in chamber and 21 in the mag, a S&W M&P 5.7. My decision to carry so many rounds stems from an incident where a 70 something man (I'm 78) was enjoying the day at a local park and, taking some cell phone photos of the park. A gang of seven thugs, both male and female, that were also in the park decided they didn't;t want him to be taking pictures and attacked him as a gang. That unfortunate elder was unprepared and took a serious beating. I realize that if I were to hurl some projectiles towards a group like that they would most likely beat a hasty retreat after the first couple rounds, but on the off chance they wouldn't I want to have enough for everybody.
As always, I greatly appreciate you vast knowledge on subjects of self preservation. Thank You.
Thank you so much for your wisdom...
Such a great video following SHOT show. Important to work on ourselves as much as we practice with firearms. Most of us are more at risk for heart disease than being mugged.
In my experience, one does not have to be or go into an environment where self protection is required. Many times the danger / threat comes to you. Not to go all old Boy Scoutish, but... be prepared.
I wish I never had to carry a firearm! After living in a large metropolitan area, where crime is happening all the time.... I pray that God keep my hand steady , and my eyes sharp! That I may prevail over my enemy!!!
Exactly how I feel where I live. I’ve spent my whole life just south of Seattle and now I don’t go anywhere without something on me. I’ve seen elderly people and even teenagers get robbed at gunpoint, and I hate the fact that I’m kind of pushed to carry due to safety. No more are the days of a fist fight and a handshake afterwards since everyone wants to use a weapon or a vehicle to harm someone else over a missed turn or not driving fast enough.
Love the talks sir thank you
Excellent talk
I appreciate these "boring" videos. In general, sometimes it's no risk, no reward. In self defense the first line is disengagement. Force when necessary
New firearm tech is cool just like new automotive tech is cool, but there's something to be said about an older car that's just simple and basic transportation without all the added expensive and distracting tech the more modern cars have. The same thing applies to firearms and the simple function and maintenance of a revolver or bolt action and lever action rifle or even the engineering simplicity of a Glock. To many people they may seem boring and outdated, but sometimes "less is more"
I am very thankful that I don't have to live in or near big cities. Not that all are bad, but that's where trouble more often finds you.
Those micro 9s are amazing. Thats a lot of security amd equality in something not much bigger than a pack of cigarettes.
I'm always keeping it simple. Even my teachers said I was simple. I guess it was a complement.🤔😆
KISS "Keep It Simple Stupid" 😵💫......that's what they told me in the military.
sometimes... things are complicated. Simple would be great, but it is what it is.
Nothing to add…you said it all. ✔️🏆
Agreed MR.H! Shrewd ⚠️would be my number 2!🙏
Five shot revolver. I second that!
Thank you for the advice
The most important weapon any human has is the analog computer between his ( her ) ears.
Life IS good!
enjoy the weather this week
We love Hickock45!!! 🙏♥️🇺🇲🇮🇱🤠
What you are saying
is NOT tainted
with a line of bull shit 👍
Allegan west Michigan we have a judge who thinks a loaded magazine in your home is intent to murder.
Yes that's true any background of the o

😊 how about Upper sustainable for the American citizenship 😊
My CZ52 has kept me safe for years.
If we are at the point that we are wrestling on the ground- I'm not reaching for the pistol... I'm reaching for the fixed blade. The blade never malfunctions and never runs out of "stabs".
I've never felt the need to conceal carry. I've been on the earth for 53 years. In many states. Many countries..Could always just carry mace. Given all that. I want to carry. Human nature.
Glad to see the new Hickok channels since JuTube loves deleting gun channels. Hickock original is in danger with all the rule changes.
I'm always surprised at these anti gunners and how many of them are willing to give up Their freedoms so that they can "feel" safe.

Capacity sometimes I want 12 cokes and sometimes I want 24 cokes Aka same deal with bullets can’t stop me having 48 cokes
i hope i never have to pull out the "big guns" 😂 i hope i never have to pull out my 380 either but you never know 😉
I've had situations where I have repeatedly warned off hard eyed silent bad guys and they kept comin, but as soon as my protection catches the light, it's freeze tag and I walk away unmolested.
Felony brandishing in some states man.
@@WheelgunsOnWheels There's a difference between brandishing a firearm irresponsibly and self defense.
@@WheelgunsOnWheels I said protection, I could be holding a lead pipe and I'm not going to worry about charges when my life is in Danger and there are no Karens around to protect me .
J’aime vraiment l’entendre s’exprimer, et pour moi il a entièrement raison.
Most of the problems I have seen with people in general is the inability to control themselves. People are quick to be aggressive or quick tempered. I live by a simple moto, you leave me alone and I'll leave you alone.
The first law of engineering... 😊😊😊😊😊
Life member of the NRA since 1990. That said, I NEVER feel the need for a firearm when I visit my cousins in Japan.
I can walk anywhere in Japan at 3:30 in the morning and the only thing I encounter are salary men puking in the streets.
Think before you speak, people will respect you more.
Yeah well, we don't live in Japan. We live in a country where courts favor the criminal over the victim. I carry 24/7 for that reason. I don't care if that offends anyone. I will not be a victim.
@@coyote520 What did I just say? Do the letters N R A escape your tiny brain?
@coyote520 Bill said guns are absolutely required everywhere, I simply stated that that was just not true, by example. But you are just not smart enough to understand subtlety, because you are all about " Ma Rights".
The Japanese have the highest IQ scores in the world and they don't tend to have a poverty problem and their punishment laws for criminals are much more strict than the USA. Poverty, low intelligence and weak punishment laws in the USA are the biggest factors to crime.
@@democritusnotsocrates2115 "Ma Rights" are more important than your feelings.
the US is a country with very few wars fought on its soil. therefore, it can be said to be brought forth from war but not corrupted by its implications. that is why we have gun rights, to protect ourselves. And none of the people who talk of ending those gun rights have seen war or conflict. All they see is the 9-5 job and their kids and spouse, not the broader picture. If I was living in some warzone overseas like Syria or DRC, my American mindset of independence and privatizing my own security, I would sure want a gun. Even though America isn't a warzone, people will still want to have a gun to defend themselves and not leave it up to others, and no one should attempt to remove them from that. I suppose I just wasted a whole comment stating the obvious though.
The obvious has to be reminded time and time again 😉
Great comment BTW
My training officer used to refer to handling things as "KISS." ---Keep it simple, stupid.
Ive always looked at a firearm as a tool, hopefully self defense is last resort, many other uses for them, its just the way i was raised. Thats why alot of these states laws trying to go against the 2nd amendment is beyond intrusive to our rights as citizens, hunting , fishing, and many more activities can require a firearm, yes usually self defense not just people, because people travel for outdoor activities, hiking , camping and its definitely somthing you want to prepared with as an outdoorsman.
Ive been watching you since the beginning and you look and act almost the same. What's your secret to staying in such good health?
I'm just a sick person. I like them all. Well most of them. I'm a little picky about them but I like them. I've liked them since I was 7 years old somebody asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Guess what I said. Yep every time I'm just a sick person but I also look at him as an investment to a certain extent and I have somebody to leave them to for him to enjoy and maybe make a little bit of money on them. I don't know if it's going to work. It never works out for me that way. But oh well, y'all be safe and be aware of your surroundings. That's my one thing that I all suggest be aware or what's around you and who's around you. I'm originally from the Chicago area and get me safe for pretty much at a time. So like I fed up with everything that was going on extra while
That what 'my friend Bill' says. 😉👉
It’s the only topic protecting oneself the governments been here a long time. I’m just trying to be here a good portion of that time.
It's the individual not the "things".
Nothing good happens after midnight. Use common sense. Use your brain. Think.
Unfortunately, you are describing young soldiers and marines doing what young soldiers and marines do.
I really like firearms. I really like freedom and independence. I really like the 2nd amendment and believe in it. BUT the only way to real peace for me is Jesus. I dont really like Jesus, I LOVE Jesus. He brings peace a firearm never could for me. If you are reading this and disagree thats fine. I am not here to argue. If you are reading this and wonder, check out the Jesus of the Bible. He delivers peace.
Mr. Hickok nailed it right there. I'm sincerely concerned for the people who have all the red dot and pistol light stuff. Especially for home defense. You shouldn't need a light. What do you do when that stuff fails to function at the worst moment? Too much emphasis on adapting the gun to the person as opposed to teaching that person to adapt to different types of guns. For myself, I'm on the fence about carrying in public. I just don't want to deal with the liability. For those who do choose carry, please be careful, the Democrats may have lost the Election but their stupidity lives.

They don't want you to have a gun unless they drafted you and yours to fight for them so theirs don't have to.
You need to change the name for the " Kickok45 talks a lot " 😇
