Also, so many great things about this try-out. Count the number of times Black Cloud says 'like' per verse. Also please get VX vs Pedro. 'THE CIG CLAP' has heavy NJT energy imo.
I mean vx had some funny shit in there each round but i feel like Black Cloud was way more consistent and clean, many more multisyllabic rhymes, I can tell really likes this guy but have him losing in all honesty😅

I'm confused at what Dan is talking about with the surface level punchlines... All phrases using like or as are going to be surface level...... 97% of punchers lines for surface level obvious "why didn't I think of that" type of bars..... There's only three or four big name punchers who get intricate with their words.... Nitty and twork are the only two I can think of right now off top that manipulate words or syllables...... Illmac is considered more of an angler but his punches are doubles sometimes....... The opponent was saying nearly the same exact style raps I'm not understanding why the view is that the other guy did so much better than black clouds..... He was stuttering and skipping words and is setups didn't even rhyme with the punchline half the time... Or started lines with "usually I go spaghetti"..... Is there a satire that I'm missing in this? 😂😂😂😂
I think it’s more of a smoothness thing. At the risk of sounding lame, there’s a certain ‘elegance’ to really good punches that BlackCloudMC is lacking in this battle. Think Nitty vs. Solomon “While your people be penny pinchin’, mine nickel squeezin’.” Both the setup and the punchline are meaningful in the context of the battle, and it’s delivered very concisely. There’s nothing forced about it at all. BlackCloudMC’s punches are a lot more long-winded, and I think in every single case the thing being compared has no relevance to the opponent (high-rise window washers, escalator maintenance, refrigerators, etc. all have nothing to do with VX). It almost felt like a satire of the punching style at first (which is why ‘escalator maintenance’ was so funny), but then it was three rounds of that. The setups are too long and the punches usually aren’t cool or unique enough for it to pay off well. I think that he still won this battle, but VX is much more entertaining to watch. But yeah it’s definitely because VX is saying funny/ridiculous things that they’re laughing at throughout. If you remember “The crack, the dope, the ice,” it’s basically an entire battle’s worth of that.
