I think the difference between lycanthropes and werewolves is lycanthropes can control their transformation while werewolves depend on a full moon
Also in my experience seeing them in movies and such. They tend to be actually become more wolf like. Where as werewolves just become a man+ wolf. Lycans almost become huge wolfs.
I always thought the term lycanthrope was the equivalent of the scientific name for a werewolf, at least, that's what I gathered from the Witcher 3.
They are the same thing no difference. Werewolf is english lycanthrope is greek.

Lycan meaning wolf or wolf-like and thrope, derived from anthropos, meaning man. Lycanthrope can encompass anyone who believes themselves to be werewolves, especially "were-communities" whereas werewolf is the term for the mythological species.

Based on the story, Beast was an 11 year old that some old stranger walked up to his door and Prince Adam is home without his parents and is scared and turns away the stranger danger. I see nothing wrong with what he did.
Plus, the stranger was an evil sorceress that goes around testing people to try to permanently curse them. She TURNED EVERY SERVANT INTO FURNITURE AND SILVERWARE! That witch was disgusting and taught no one anything and could have permanently turned a little kid into a broken cup!
The 11 year old prince Adam did a great thing by turning away the evil stranger and not letting her into the house.

John Abbatiello yeah its a fairy tale. nobody has the right to judge anybody, including a prince to judge an ugly old lady asking for shelter. but the point of a fairy tale isnt to depict reality, its to give a lesson for kids. for KIDS. not over-analyzing adults on the internet. the lesson is to be hospitable (a more relevant lesson when the story was written than now) and not judge on appearances.

Culture is bad in places not because we are stupid in the face of experience but more so that we are not perfectly logical creatures and are more likely to act on emotion, before ethical reasoning. As for it getting "more right than I'm ever likely to comprehend" I would argue that culture is what is accepted, not what is right.

I agree about the cgi though :( I like cgi but I think sometimes it takes away the organic feeling that a live action film should have. Like there's already an animation so shouldn't they work hard to make it the best live action adaption that they can?
I think the biggest problem theyre worried about with practical effects with a character is how well emotion can be portrayed. Which is understandable, but it kind of sucks they didnt really give it a shot...

If you're a straight girl that finds another woman attractive or likes some qualities of another woman but harbor no romantic feelings, then the term girl crush can be used. And vice versa for a guy. If a straight male recognizes that another man is attractive or aspires to be more like that guy then it's man crush. It's just to differentiate that you have no romantic feelings toward that person

Lycanthrope's are basically used to describe an old greek legend to describe a person who either purposefully or by an afflicted curse can turn into either a full on Animal (usually a wolf) or a Hybrid of the two. It was often called "Lycanthropy" because the greeks described it as an infliction.
The old english version of the Werewolf stems from the ancient greek Lycanthropy but with several changes such as being weak to Silver.
