  • The Maruti Suzuki Invicto and Toyota Innova Hycross are about as similar as two cars get, so where's the difference?
    Watch this video to know where these two hybrid MPVs differ and all the things that are common between them. We’ve also tested their real-world fuel efficiency to see how effective the hybrid system really is in our conditions. We also take you through the styling differences, the way the interiors are done up and the way these two three-row cars drive out on the road.
    The top Maruti Suzuki Invicto Alpha Plus seen here is effectively placed between the Hycross’ VX(O) and ZX variants. So both get features like full-LED lighting, ventilated front seats, eight-way power-adjustment for the driver, the 7-inch driver’s display, auto headlamps and wipers, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, PM2.5 air filter and connected tech. The larger 18-inch wheels, ottoman seats, 9-speaker JBL audio and a suite of level 2 ADAS functions are only available on the Hycross, aside from some convenience features like a mist function for the wipers and adjustable second row armrests.
    Safety features available on both include TPMS, 360-degree cameras, front and rear parking sensors, hill-hold and an electronic parking brake.
    The hybrid system is identical in both. There is a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol motor that puts out 154PS and 190 Nm paired with a 113PS and 206 Nm electric motor, with an e-CVT in the mix for a combined 186PS. The Toyota can also be had with a lesser 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol.

    I just don’t understand why Suzuki had to collab with Toyota when they have many models which they can release in India. This has got to be one of the saddest and downfall for Indian Automobile Industry.

      No it actually makes a lot of sense for both. You wouldn't have seen cheap hybrids without it.

      Shared technology, like a dubbing of a movie in multiple languages, is the way to go in the future. Just selling something under one tag name will not earn back the production and R&D cost, as within some time, the products age out, and before that they should sell as many as possible. You spend 100cr on a movie and you can't expect one region only to earn all money, country wide release is best bet.
      Also in this case both partners get to leverage the advantage of the other. Similar strategy we see in Nissan-Renault, VW-Skoda, Hy-Kia. How and why do you think it is a downfall?

    Maruti Suzuki will be in a very precarious situation in about 10 years time, as the effluence of middle class increases over the years, they would want larger, better,safer and branded cars; Maruti has never captivated the minds on account of these factors; unless they really transform and make more premium products that actually sell, the company will be done and dusted in about 25 years is my personal opinion

      Maruti is a person's first stage car, most naturally progressing people will cross this stage and buy an MS first, then they might elevate to a more "luxurious" brands. MS is on right track building sustainable and durable cars, we don't need safety much for some of us since 95% of travel will be in city and speeds won't cross 50kph. More features more cost less reliable. Of course there are some conglomerate car makers who try your give more by balancing its loss making with other industry's revenue.

      Torque converter is for ICE only powertrain. Self charging hybrids have the sole choice of eCVT. Unlike traditional CVTs running with chains or belts across diameter changing pulleys, these have a planetary gearbox connecting the IC engine, drive motor and final drive axle.
      Since this combination also has infinitely possible gear ratios, hence it carries the jargon name eCVT.
      For details, you may visit the Weber State University's RUclips channel Weber Auto, where Prof John Kelly has elaborately explained the eCVT transaxles of Honda and Toyota.

      @stegoshen 2 месяца назад

      It’s eCVT. Torque converters can’t be used in hybrid powertrain.

    What the hell you are talking about car's mileage!! Have gone mad!!
    I had owned the top model of innova hycross, driven around 20,000 kms and sold within 4 months. The mileage that i got was not more than 12 kmpl on highways. And city mileage was 9 to 10 kmpl.

    • @odmag
      @odmag  7 месяцев назад

      Please listen to the video. I've said clearly it depends on the batteries state of charge. We've also got lower numbers than this on previous tests for this reason.
