Its a musical recreation of a famous fiction story "FIKER ESKE MEKABER", call it an ethiopian equivalent of Romeo & Juliet. All the major characters being depicted.
P.s: Geez (Eth) alphabet evolved from sabean (yemenite) alphabet over thousands of years ago. South west arabia used to be ruled by the then ethiopian empires and hence all the ancient admixtures of cultures and phenotype.

Okay I looked through the comments and I think a lot of people (even from Ethiopia missed the story of this song)... When it starts it doesnt show you fly.. it shows you bee and shows you fire (THIS is TRADITIONAL CANDLE made of HONEY) I capitalized those because they are important information of the song. (MAR => Honey.... Twaf=> Traditional Candle)
The story you you hear when the song starts is "FIKIR ESKE MEKABIR" Love until death. The story is very similar to HAMLET. This song seems like its inspired by that story.
Now the story can be interpreted differently by different audiences but here is my take and I definitely would argue this is the intention of TEDDY (as a huge Teddy Afro Fan I think I can speak to that).
The story is about a girl that have been given to church as a monk. Her dad throwing water (HOLY WATER/the one you use for baptism) on her is not shaming her instead he is giving her up for a church and kind of blessing her.
Now what does the honey and candle have to do with this song?..... Honey is sweet and can be eaten but honey that will be used as a candle can not be eaten rather made to be burnt to be light for others. (DEEP HUH???)

Ok guys I think u misunderstood our comments last time...the girl at the end in the audience is his wife not the violinist. She is also the actor in this video also the director.
Ethiopia has 43.5% Orthodox christian, 18.5% Protestant, 33.9% Muslim, and others.
So basically the story takes place some 100-200 years ago(am not sure the exact time sorry). She is from a nobel family and her father wanted her to get education...at that time orthodox church education. So that's where Bezabehe comes along. While he teaches her how to write and stuff they fell in love. But when her father found out he didn't approve so they decided to run away together...he went to addis the capital first... but she couldn't escape. So they were separated and couldn't reach eachother. Eventually she went to a monastery and became an nun. After many years they found eachother in the monastry.
