He didn’t just kill himself, He fought until the last minute and when he was surrounded he killed himself instead of been captured. His son was taken by the British to England after his fall.

What thing he didn't mention is on the video is the spiritual aspect of the war. The main reason Italy came to Ethiopia is to try to destroy the orthodox Christan faith and replace it with Catholicism. What's crazy is that the Italian writers them selves have spoken about the man on the white horse who was a strength to the Ethiopians. Which is beliveved to be st George that's why the king took priests and decons and ark of a covenant to the war. There were also women at the war
The main reason Italy tried to invade and occupy Ethiopia was that they wanted to establish their own colonial empire like the other western European colonial powers. Italy was a newly unified nation so it wanted to win the respect of other European powers by carving its own colonial domain in African territories the other European powers did not rule or claim.

Right ! He didnt want to embarass his country. The british took his son ALemayehu Tewodros and stole thousands of books and religeous artifacts and transported to England.You can find some of them in the British museums.

@@heruy8274 look tewodros knew the ottomans are planning to attack him , and they were superior in thier milliyry and weapon, so he understood that , he NEEDS to know how to make weapons to survive ethiopia , along with uniting it , from the upcoming attacks (ottoman invasion and colonisation)
He asked assistance from England n other European countries through letter , no response , he imprisoned the English people in ethiopia, got attention but English still refuse to help rather they waged war in ethiopia , English allied with rival ethiopians (yohannes/tigre) to lead them to tewodros , in return promised them they'll give them weapons and put the rival yohannes in power , that worked , they freed their people and left ethiopia ,
Yohannes becomes a king ,he have weapons and fought against ottoman expansion through Egypt and Sudan , he succeeded with winning the war with ottoman/Egypt , but died in the war zone , but ethiopia did not got captured by ottoman empire,

Ethioians built the oldest and historic churich Lalibela in the 14th entury which is amezing 13 buildings at historic place of Lalibela.These Churchs were built by Ethioians king his name also called Lalibel,and this churich is rejister by UNESCO as worlid hertage and many turist are visiting from different countries of the world.
Loved the history! I can see why the Rastafarian religion is so linked to the Ethiopia. There are supposedly over 1000 Jamaican Rastas living in Ethiopia, as they believe its their promised land.

When Ethiopian fought a war. The king held the ark of saint George to the war and saint George was helping them in the war. Italy witnessed this event and they say there was a man who sitted in the white horse who fought them really hard. There was a drawing in American big library which describes the war and it shows how the saint George helped us.
