Le Male will never get boring, such a classic! I still have a 125ml which I bought back some 12 years ago! And I still wear it occasionally, mostly when I am going out for diner with my wife! I wore this scent when we met 11 years ago... 9/10 for me! You can hate me for it, I don't care 😉
if anyone ever hate for something you like wearing, they should be ridiculed. 😉 whatever floats your boat, the sentimental value it holds in your life, which nobody can ever take away, for me it's the 212 VIP that my wife loved on me 12 years ago, so I still have a bottle and sometimes spray some for her. 😊
@DirkDiggler18 indeed, not all too often unfortunately. Quite impossible too with a disabled kid that needs full attention and care... And thereby, I also want to enjoy my other 40+ perfumes too 😉
A young 24yr old Francis Kurkdijan created this as his debut and it's a great way to introduce yourself to the perfumery world. I loved this back then and still whenever I visit it I fall in love again. The bottle, the tin, the fragrance...Jean Paul Gaultier & Kurkdijan came together at exactly the right time
THE clubbing fragrance back in the 90s. The performance was unbelievable, now it’s a shadow of its former self both in performance and toned down sweetness. Still have it for the memories it brings.
@@BellumOmniumContraOmnes I was wondering if it was light or if my nose was broken, never tried it back in the day and all the reviews I saw said it was overpowering, but it seems like it doesn’t project nearly as much compared to some of the other EDTs I have like Eros or Acqua di Gio
@@BellumOmniumContraOmnes I have a 2023 bottle and it performs very well (12+ hours of longevity, 3-4 hours of moderate-strong projection, and it becomes a skin scent for like 8-10 hours.). In terms of sweetness, I find the new batches way sweeter and vanilla dominant, the vintage formulation smelled less sweet, and it had a herbal, “green” quality to it.
What most fragrances addict don’t get is that 99% of people don’t care about fragrances. They don’t know what modern or old school is. It’s either you smell good or bad. Amazing video finally someone that doesn’t put that fragrance down just cause it’s old and popular
Thanks Aaron, with all the reformulation going on in many Houses, I agree it would be interesting to review the old Le Male you purchased compared to this modern version!
I remember when this first came out in the mid 90's. I worked at the mall so I would visit the fragrance spot once a week to see if anything new came out and the girl behind the counter said this just came in. It was love at first smell. Bought the big bottle. 4 bottles later, it was time to move on as it started to get too popular here in NY. I'll never forget the the smell and presentation. Was ahead of everything at the time.
I’m 26 and my brother used to wear this in the early 2000’s when he would come home from the Navy. Good memories attached to this fragrance for me, love it to this day
Lmao I was at a restaurant and smiled so hard when I saw the notification of your video knowing how much of a great time I would have watching this when I get back home
I got a bottle of it over 25 years ago and I didn’t use it until recently. I’m soooo impressed with its longevity and performance. I still smell it two days later on my skin! It’s unreal! The Armani Code I’ve used for a few years last maybe 2-3 hours at best.
I love this smell. Everytime I think I'm getting tired of it, I smell that uplifting sweet minty lavender opening and I'm reminded why this is so good. Only thing is I don't particularly enjoy the spicy notes in the dry down, the cinnamon becomes almost sour by the time all the top notes are gone. I think its discontinued flanker Le Beau Male corrects this issue for me. Replacing all the spices and vanilla with icy green herbal notes, while maintaining that fresh sweetness the orignal is known for.
1995 and I was in the army in Germany, this stuff was still unknown at that time and I bought a bottle in the duty free shop at the army base in Seedorf. Went clubbing and got loads of compliments. This stuff will always be in my collection!
Hey Aaron! Ordered a bunch of fragrances from your online store a few weeks ago. Only had a chance to try all of them out recently. All great scents. What I appreciate a lot is the heart that was hand-drawn on my list of fragrances I ordered. Very nice. Thank you, Aaron!
Hey Aaron! I'm in love with your style of videos. I recommend you to try out the Xerjoff Torino22. My signature scent. Perfect reviews and content man keep it up! 🦄
I’d love to hear your thoughts on Francesca Bianchi’s fragrances. They’re really dark and sultry and probably right down your alley. The Black Knight is a great vetiver fragrance for example
This is the first fragrance I bought. Your review is spot on, it is iconic, a game changer, timeless and masterpiece, it does truly deserve 10/10. This one is a hall of fame fragrance. I actually collect the bottles and flankers. The bottle may divide opinion, I think it's great.
For years this was my signature scent. As I got older the scent took a turn for the worst off my skin. The scent is still amazing but I guess my skin chemistry changed. My go to now is le male le parfum. Which to me reminds me so much of the original edt.
I have been wearing the Original Jean Paul Le Male for the past 6 years now, I've purchased both Jean Paul Le Parfum and Elixir, Love all 3 to be honest, But spraying the Original Jean Paul Gaultier Le male, There is something that I just can't seem to get enough of the smell, It could be the vanilla, I just seem to fall in love with the fragrance over and over again!!!! 🧴
The first brand fragrance I purchased about 15 years ago. Still have 2/3 of the bottle and it's a great fragrance, seems to last well on my skin. My wife loves this on me so an added bonus 👍👍
Maybe because of the olfactory chemical irritants. The chemicals that activate the smell signals in our brain (called odorants) can sometimes irritate our sinuses
@@MyAlanwhite Irritation of any kind can be reduced from not spraying on the from of the body but on the back, away from the nose and mouth. Over-spraying should also be avoided. But things like Blue De Channel Parfum don't just give me a headache, but an aura migraine that affects my vision! :(
Just another fantastic review, and I really appreciated hearing the breakdown of the formula, and your opinions on that. Le Male is an absolute classic, that I don't think will ever go away, despite some opinions that it smells "old". This may be more suited for the mature wearer, and something like Le Male Elixir may be more appealing to a younger demographic. Regardless, this DNA is beautiful, and I continue to appreciate the art behind it's formula still to this day. The bottles are definitely an interesting choice, but that's an entirely different discussion 😂😂
I've been sleeping on Le Male for a while. I already own Ultramale and Elixir but this review just swayed me on a 125ml of Le Male. Cheers Aaron, I always enjoy your videos and gives me more information about the actual ingredients vs just the notes.
The very affordable fragrance "Cuba Gold EDT" is similar and much older (1979.) Some claim it could have been likely an inspiration for JPG Le Male. Would be interesting to know your thoughts on it, Aaron.
I bought a 200ml Big Boy back in 2017, I’m about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through it. This for me? Sunday mornings with my wife. Shower and coffee, then back to bed. Then reapply and go get Banh Xeo and Vietnamese Salty Lemonade. Spend the afternoon at the park, play some basketball or tennis. Shower, reapply, then back to bed. Not for xxx, but because it’s 6:30 pm and I’m ready to go to sleep smelling great.
This used to be an absolute beast. Last bottle I bought of it though as much weaker and had barely longevity whereas when it was big 20+ years ago it had unbelievable longevity.
This was the first fragrance that stuck out as being a masterpiece to me. I used to “borrow” my roommate in college’s bottle before heading to Polly Esther’s in Sacramento. Not the beast it once was but still smells modern while it’s contemporaries smell dated.
Yes, would love to have a comparison with the original. It was nuclear performance, yet very subtle. Had some facets closed to mushrooms / undergrowth which I loved a lot (smelled a bit like eugenol derivatives). I don't like the newer formulations, even if they have the DNA of the OG, I can't make it (I'm a organic chemistry engineer btw, and worked a lot on organic chemistry for F&F).
I purchased a bottle a few years ago and while I was blown away by the opening, as it dried down it became earthy and it became progressively less appealing to me. So I gave it to my dad :)
Le Male blew me away when I first applied it in the early 2000’s. Fast forward to today and Le Parfum is now carrying the torch. Just energetic/clean/creamy/masculine perfection
Aaron, I have a suggestion for you. You like using all this jargon when describing perfumes, but for most people it is very difficult to understand or to relate particular compounds. I think would be great if you could start a series teaching people some of the basics in perfumery and eventually getting to understand some oh the jargon you often are using.
That’s a good idea, I’ll try and do some. I do always encourage people to buy the raw materials and experience them for themselves, that’s why we put the names on the screen of the aromachemicals, they can be quite inexpensive in tiny tester quantities. But I’ll try and do some videos about raw materials thank you
When my bottles of Le Male Elixir and especially Le Beau Le Parfum arrived (I bought direct from JPG)... a family member asked "Uh, something you need to discuss?" ROFL. I'm like "Great cologne... bottle is odd for mens cologne... but I can get past that".
Review of Bois Imperial by Essential Parfums? People say its similar to Ganymede and its also made by the same perfumeur Quentin Bisch. Would be interesting what you would say about this creation
I have Pradas take on this which is the Luna Rossa Sport. Similar or should i say homage, with Prada's signature lavender. I would say a more mature take over the original.

Sorry but this is just an emotion, like you drove a Porsche or an AMG 20 years ago and do the same now. You got used to it and your memories are biased.
The original was amazing! I don’t know how many times it has been reformulated now, but I won’t buy another bottle. It just isn’t what it was, in my opinion.
