“… going for Morticia & Gomez Addams gallery wall. Does that make sense?” - OMG, YES! I love it!
You just get me 🥰🥰
The page you added into the Books Read spread is so well done! It looks so intentionally and pretty. Love it!! Your reading journal videos are my favorite 🥰
Thank you so much Megan! 🥰🥰 I’ll definitely leave more room on next year’s version!
You are going to love The Lost Apothecary. It was sooooo good!!!
I just finished it, it was wonderful! What a cool way to tell a story!
Beautiful ideas. I just write the books I read in a composition book. These ideas are much more interesting.
It’s tricky to balance sometimes - I definitely need those simpler pages in between sometimes in order to not get overwhelmed, but it’s also so much fun!
Such a cute theme and I love the progress tracker! I have a small progress tracker in my regular bujo, not this good where it follows the days but rather just a small line boxed in where I mark roughly where I was in the book before that month began with slanted lines and then fill it in with a highlighter as I progress/finish the book. I forget where I stole that idea from but that person had it in their weeklies
Ohh I love that - I have been wondering if I should be marking how far in I am at the beginning of a month! I think including it in your regular bujo is really smart too - all the fun of reading tracking without the pressure of a whole other notebook!
beautiful spread!! your journals are gorgeous
Thank you so much! I had a heap of fun making this one! 🥰
I have a pages read page where I just color the squares in for every 20 pages I read in a day.
I also have a bookhaul page and a wishlist page. And a favorite quotes one
Ooh these are all wonderful ideas! 😍
i looove the lost apothecary!! i hope you enjoyed it!!
It was really interesting!
I’m still in like March in my reading journal cause I made the choice to do all decorative spreads… I’m now pretty sure I’m switching to simpler spreads now! 😅
You really went in all guns blazing there Karen! I admire that level of enthusiasm! Yay for simpler spreads too though - honestly whatever I’m feeling that day is what wins for me!
I am a digital book reader now myself, but I would prefer to read physical books.. Because I now have a visual impairment and large print books are difficult to come by, I have embraced the digital book and will soon be delving into audio books, as well , in an attempt to hopefully find another alternative to reading physical books. I do miss holding a book in my hands and turning the pages...😥
You just said you don't read physical books in front of a librarian!😂 Thank you for promoting Libby and libraries. And I'm with you about not finishing books that aren't engaging. There are no quizzes, tests, or papers to write, so we don't have to finish any book we aren't enjoying. Thank you for the video.🙂
I am so embarrassed 😅 any reading format is good though right? Riiiight? No really though, thank you for giving so much through your amazing role in our society! Libraries are so important - and they wouldn’t be such wonderful community hubs without people like you!
@@ErinSmith absolutely it all counts! Keep reading.
I wasn't planning on having a reading journal because I don't read consistently enough... but your reading journal is so pretty & practical I'm thinking that I might just have to give it a go! Currently on a book-buying ban until I've read at least 75% of the books I already own, so maybe a reading journal will help me keep on track!? I love the spooky/witchy vibes, October can be one of the best seasons and you're so creative with it!
Oooh I say give it a go Anna! I really enjoy mine, as a way to live in the best books a bit longer, remember what I read, and get a chance to use up some more of my stationery stash!
I don’t read physical books much anymore either- I like the feel and the smell, and they’re great for showing you’re otherwise occupied when you’d rather not be interrupted, but I’m light sensitive and get headaches and migraines, and being able to read white text on a black background, along with the convenience of a library in my pocket, kindle unlimited saving me from buying books I despise (or just don’t love enough to want to spend money on), and no embarrassing book covers- even if you don’t read books that are especially embarrassing, some of the cover choices authors have made are… unfortunate. And I never expects be an audiobook lover, but there’s times (like driving) when I just want to be reading but my eyes are needed for other things. Not to mention there are some amazing performances.
I feel like you’ve just described exactly what I love about ebooks 😍 I love how they don’t take up extra space in my house as well!
i have A TON of washi tape, and use different tapes for different books. the only downside i have for it is that i tend to read more than one book at a time. so A LOT OF THE TIME the washi tends to overlap each other. but i LOVE the look of it!
That sounds AMAZING 😍
Goodness, I adore your reading journal. I'm loving your switch to doing monthly themes now too. And my mind was blown with the progress bar layout for tracking books. I've done the calendar layout (albeit slightly different than you have due to using a blackout journal) all year long, and I'm itching to try something different. Maybe I'll give it a go in November! Please keep me/us updated on how it works for you, if possible! For my monthly pages, I use the same ones almost every month: Cover page, Monthly View (where I track my calendar view, ARCs I have to read and Books I purchase/get gifted), my TBR/Prompts list, Library Hires and Buddy Reads are all on the next two paged spread, and then a Reading Log as I don't do individual review pages, though I'm seriously considering it for 2024. Finally, I do a bigger Stats page with bar graphs and a collage of all the books I read each month when the month is over. For Sept and Oct I've participated in Readathons so I have a giant monopoly board spread in each month. I'm a Gemini, and I've done the same basic foundation for every monthly setup since January until September where I finally caved and tried something new - I got a little bored. Now I just want to spend the rest of the year experimenting to see what I'll use as my basic foundation for 2024. I hope that you get to enjoy making new spreads, and that you enjoy your reading (especially The Cruel Prince, I love that world).
Your reading journal sounds amazing Chelle! I can definitely imagine I’d need a page for ARCs if I was requesting them too 👀 isn’t it funny how a layout works, and works, and works, and then yes go ‘urgh’ and need something fresh, even if it serves the same purpose? Intensely relatable 😅 yay for experimentation!
@@ErinSmith if you ever want to check it out, I have videos of my journal on my channel 🩷
I just love these sort of videos so much. Thank you.
Thank you for being here!
I love the idea of a reading journal! I really ought to read more, seeing this is motivating!
I really enjoy it! If you keep a bullet journal already, I say start with a spread or two in there first and see if you like it - then you can step up to a dedicated journal if you do!
@@ErinSmith I do and that is a wonderful idea thank you!!
Love this sm! So cool you wanna try new things. Thanks for sharing and wishing u the best on ur book journaling adventures! Love ur content.
Thank you so much for joining me in this journey Ruby! 🥰
Love your stamp set with daggers batcwings and cauldron ❤❤❤
Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov could be a good October read. Its kind of Halloweeny. Its written in the Soviet Union period and its one of my favorite books.
Thanks Annemette, I hadn’t heard of that one! 💜
Very cute.
Ahhhh! Love your reading journal!! Love how you added space for your book log. It turned out pretty and seamless. My own book journal is less artistically focused and more about data collection, but I really vicariously enjoy how beautiful yours is!
Thanks Leah! I absolutely love that you keep your journal in the way that works for you - I’m so glad you can live through mine a bit too 🥰
I love watching you setting up pages. You have such great style.
You are the actual sweetest, Jen!
Your reading journal is so pretty! You have given me lots of inspiration to start my own!
You can do it! 🥰
I just finished re-reading the Throne of Glass series... the middle book was slow but if you stick with it the whole series is worth the read.
Thank you for this warning, I’ll push through!
Beautiful setups❤
Thank you so much! 🥰
Absolutely loved this video! The October spreads are so cute I love the caldron stickers so much!
In my monthly reading journal set up I have two extra pages that maybe you’d be interested in trying- first is one I call my hauled page where I list what books I buy that month and do a mini graph of books read vs books hauled (I just draw books in each column so I can see if I’ve read more or bought more) then the last page is my stats for the month. So I do stuff like how many books are from my own TBR, hauled or borrowed, how many pages, how many hours listened. I also include information such as what genres I read and then my favourite book that month. Can’t wait to see more reading journal content from you!
Ohh that’s so smart Leashey - having a record of books you have but haven’t read! Genius 😍
@@ErinSmith yeah I have a bookshelf spread with all my unread books at the start of my journal! Good way to keep track
I love your reading journal theme!!! I love all the spooky vibes. I read A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon earlier this and really enjoyed it, it was cute and had a very spring vibe with all the plants so it should be prefect moving in spring where you live!
Ooh I didn’t realise it would be a seasonal fit too - thanks Amanda! I’m even more excited about it now! 😍
I've just bought a Sprocket after seeing your short! It's the perfect item for book cover pages which I'm going to include in my reading journal from now on. I'm going to try the progress bar in October as well I think. I keep monthly stats but in next years journal I'm planning a yearly stat page. Great video, thank you for your great content!
Yay! I hope you love your new Sprocket friend! 🥰
This was so inspiring and motivation, that I really would want to get into my reading journal now! Only thing is, I read so slow that I usually only finish 1 to 2 books a month and I don't really see the point in setting up many intense pages for that. But it's a pleasure looking at yours 😊
I’d recommend checking out Anna from JournalAway’s reading journal videos! She does something like this but quarterly rather than monthly 💕
I am OBSESSED with all the October stickers and washi! 😍 I want to do a reading tracker, but I definitely don’t have the time for it right now unfortunately. I’m hoping to do one next year!
I recommend just adding a lil reading journal spread into your existing journal Hillary! Nothing too crazy, just title, author, rating maybe? Then you get a little of the fun without having to commit to a whole ✨thing✨
@@ErinSmith that’s a good idea! I’ll try that with October!
I really loved Deborah Harkness "All souls" series (3 books), starts with "A discovery of witches". It's right up my alley; witches, deamons and vampires sprinkeld with a tiny bit of brittish history ^^. I've read them a couple of times now to be honest, especially around autumn when it's getting a bit chilly in northen Europe.
Ooh I’m actually halfway through the second one! But I’ve had them on hold for a long time, I should get back into them!
The second one can be a bit slow to get through but in the third one it all comes together :)!@@ErinSmith
I read The Lost Apothecary when it first came out and I remember really enjoying it. I have some reading spreads on my projects in insert on my travelers notebook BuJo, but seriously considering having a dedicated insert next year for my reads.
Ooh that's so good to know Vivian - the cover is SO beautiful! Your TN bujo sounds amazing, what a flexible system!
I'm looking forward to your review on "A Witch's Guide To Fake Dating A Demon"! I read it right after it came out and loved it so sooooo much. I hope it brings you joy too🎉
It sounds SO good Emily - I'm really excited to read it! I'll report back in next month's video haha!
This is so fun, love a spooky theme! If you're looking for witchy romance recommendations, I really enjoyed Hex Appeal by Kate Johnson last year. I've got another book by her for this autumn which I'm really looking forward to. And The Kiss Curse is also on my tbr!
Thank you so much Kelly! Gonna add this to my Maybe Next page! 😍
I do have kindle books and audiobooks. I have read a lot of books I'm afraid it might not fit in a notebook spread like yours lol same as my audiobooks. I might try doing this and see it for myself :) Nice and gorgeous spreads.
Watch Elizabeth from the channel PlantBasedBride’s reading journal videos for ideas from someone who reads a LOT 😍
@@ErinSmith I think I saw her vlog when I was watching your vlogs 🤭
I loved this setup. I had trouble listening to It happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey. I ended up picking it up physically for me and I enjoyed it more that way.
So perhaps ebook I’d the best way to go ?
I think I’m going to take your advice there Jade! I gave up on the audiobook very quickly 😅
Does anyone know what kind of paper she uses in that mini printer ??
It’s Zink photo paper, you need a special kind of paper because the printer uses heat to print thermally, instead of ink. Technically you’re supposed to use the official HP Sprocket paper with it but I actually use the Canon version pretty often because it’s cheaper here 😉
Is there a link to the stamp set of daggers and bat wings?
Yes! It’s the Fantasy and Fiction stamp set, linked under These Infinite Threads 😘
@@ErinSmith yes I found that but didn't show the bat wings, thanks 😊
