If Hikaru doesn't win the candidates can we please get a kickstarter going to pay him to be at the World Championship and just walk around the board and react?
These reaction clips of Hikaru makes me feel like he has been the most composed player in this tournament till now (after Ian) with all these reactions of him watching other players go downhill. Every other player has been taking more or less weird risks/on tilt and making weird decisions. Hikaru also did that, but only against rapport and during his game against Ian it was in the game change in mindset unlike other players. he didn't take any crazy risks or went for win or loose result in today's game either.
I liked how Rapport was interested in this game constantly walking around, while Hikaru was thinking over the board. And since there were no winning strat for him, Hikaru finally had a chance to see.... THIS messed up situation)))
Chess is such a unique game! We have actual pros streaming the game like gamers The chess interviews are borderline trash The press conferences are nothing but comedy And then we have cream of the crop people like hikaru and nepo making the most hilarious expressions when they aren't even playing. I feel like the entire chess community tries to be professional like other sports but just are not able to which I love to see
Context as to why he's making that expression? I'm not a good chess player and I just came across this vid in my recommended page. I'm just curious cus his reaction was hilarious.
From what I understand, the dude playing white got himself in such a position that any possible moves taken will eventually without fail lead to a loss. Hikaru is probably thinking "how the fuck did you get yourself cornered this badly?"
actually hikaru reacted to the clip. He had seen this position earlier with a far advanced white pawn. When he returned the pawn was gone and he was confused why it's missing.
These players are super-GMs. They know when their position is poor. Just look at Fabi's expression - he's well aware he's thrown away his win and given Ding attacking chances. Hikaru silently making the same observation is not going to affect the game at all.
The only thing that's illegal is giving moves, as long as Hikaru isn't talking, it's fine. If you're losing a game and Naka starts giving you a dirty look, you either know it's bad and agree with him, or you didn't see what he is looking for and you can't ask him.
Nah Ian is playing great, although he was pretty lucky as well, but luck usually follows the better player. Fabi was also great in first half, before he melted down after that first loss. Ding was the reverse, disappointing in first and grt in second. Hikaru has been kinda average but consistent throughout. Winning one, losing one, so on. Now the only chance is Hikaru defeating Ian today. Hopefully he does, but looks doubtful. If anybody defeats Ian once, there is always the chance of him going into a major tilt. Sadly nobody was able to do it.
@@prashidrai6417 its the rules, everyone records down the moves, whether its candidates or a tournament between 10 year olds, as long as its rated and official, it has to follow the official rules (FIDE), theres no reason for an exception made especially for a tournament of a small size, its not just tradition, but actually essential for tournaments with like a hundred tables for the pairings of future rounds.

well you might want to take a look at radjabov's game.

hikaru is like the teacher walks around stops at your table, then tells the class "make sure you read the test questions thoroughly."

As always hikaru has the best reaction of all modern chess players. Let him be on candidates again. 🤣🤣🤣
