    Bought the 110 last winter and it’s the funniest ski I ever ridden! Mounted a Duke PT 16 on it and it shreds! Did everything from hitting black jumps butter around to absolutely blast through the forest. Not the lightest set up but works also grate for shorter tours in the BC. Highly recommend 🤙🏻

    Great review! Love the honest evaluation of the pluses and minuses. My home resorts are in the Lake Tahoe area and I’m looking for a really playful ski for the new snow days. I’m 5’10”, 150 lbs, and getting up there in years which equals slowing down a little. My daily driver is a Head Kore 93 180cm. I’m leaning towards the 180 in the Bent 110 for finding those last pow stashes in the tight trees and steeper lines. I know there’s a lot of tail rocker but the 188 just seems big for me. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
    Thanks again for your great reviews!

      You're on the right track here for sure! I'm about your size and I had a lot of fun on the 180. Considering your description of your skiing and your size, I think the 180 is perfect. Highly maneuverable, and it doesn't sound like any potential lack of stability would pose a big problem for you. Hope that helps!

    I love the shape of it and I love the design. I have heard you and Bob talk about using narrower skis in the moguls. I have also heard you and Bob talk about using a softer tip in the moguls. What kind of feedback are you getting with these skis with you and your testers in hard moguls?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      The Bent 110 can handle moguls, but prefers to do it slowly, deliberately, and with a rounder turn shape. Bob and I like talking about narrower skis in moguls because they're quicker edge to edge and more nimble. Bob has a formal mogul background and really drives the shovel of his ski into the next bump, so really stiff skis tend not to work as well for him, but I (and most skiers) aren't nearly that good in moguls and use more of a slip, smear technique. I control my speed more from putting the ski sideways, rather than bashing into the next mogul... if that makes sense. So, you could ski them in moguls, yes, they just won't be very nimble or agile, but also relatively forgiving with the softer tips and tails and abundant rocker.

    • @darinsmith2458
      @darinsmith2458 2 года назад

      @@SkiEssentials It does make sense.. When shaped skis were first coming out I bought a pair of demo K2s and I skied Birds of Prey in Beaver Creak and the tips were so hard that they literally would go straight into the mogul and I would pop out of the ski. The interesting thing about it was I saw a ski instructor doing the same thing. The skis were fine on the top of the run but towards the middle and bottom where the mogul softened up that is where the problems began..

    I ski Whitefish MT. I ski in the trees mostly, my style is looking for rock drop ins, small cliffs, jumps, spines. I ski on the Hellroaring Basin side mostly, which has your best chance of finding fresh powder. What would you recommend I go with the Bent 100 or Bent 110, also what size 180 or 188, I’m 5’10 165lbs. Occasionally I will hike to Hellroaring Peak which is connected to Whitefish MT nut is out of bounds.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      Hi Artem! My impression is the Bent 100 would be the better ski for you. The Bent 110 is much softer in the tips and tails and really starts to feel like a fairly specific, freestyle-oriented powder ski. Super buttery and playful, but not as responsive and actually not as stable as the 100. Obviously you'd gain some float with the 110, but I wonder how often you'd need it. For length, I am just about your size exactly, and love skiing the 180 cm Bent 100. Super agile in the trees and technical terrain, but still reactive and supportive. Hope that helps! If I'm way off, and you prefer more of the surfy, smeary, buttery, playful feel, go 110.

    • @artemlapik8413
      @artemlapik8413 2 года назад +1

      Ok thank you. I’m coming from a K2 Reckoner 102. What I did not really like about that ski is it wasn’t really playful more stiff and it wasn’t forgiving when it came to missed landings from anything. I’m looking for a more playful ski, that is still able to do cliffs, drop ins, jumps. I like to hunt the trees looking for any natural drop in or tight trees to have fun and I only do groomers sometimes if I’m with family or getting somewhere. I’ve been getting mixed feedback from others. Between the Bent 110 and 100 just going based off exactly what I said I ski, what would you go with, I know you said 100 in your opinion, but now I was more specific. I sold my Reckoner because I did not like how they skied, to stiff and not playful, In the trees it just didn’t feel very maneuverable, or agile in tight terrain. I’m looking for something playful and very maneuverable in the trees, and agile in tight terrain. And is the Bent 110 more playful than the 100?Thanks in advance.

      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      Both are fantastic choices for your application. I am 6/2 225 and I like the addition of the carbon to the K2 in terms of offering more strength to hold up my weight. The Atomic felt too flexible for me, but I certainly can see the merits for lighter, more freestyle-focused skiers. I found that the Reckoner had more torsional stiffness due to the carbon and that I could access more performance out of the ski. Hope that helps you!

    I just got these in a 180. I’ve skied for 12 years now and can rip around the mountain but wanted a new ski instead of my rosignol soul 7 in a 172. Which I’ve done not much flowy smeary skiing on. Got these hoping I can get into that more of freestyle flow and buttering all over the mountain. Also here in Utah where we get a decent amount of pow but didn’t want the 120 cause it’s just overkill. you think these fit what I’m looking for??

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Год назад

      These should be perfect for you. A nice transition from the Soul 7. Just as easy to ski, but more freestyle influence in its shape and feel, and I'd say a touch more stable too. Should be plenty of float even for those deeper Utah days. Great choice.

    I have a question. I consider buying a Freeride/Touring Ski for decent powder days. I'm more like a playful kind of skier, and getting into Freestyle a bit too. Do a jump here and there. My sports background is Parkour/Freerunning if that helps. :)
    I have those three Skis in my mind: Head Core 111, Bent chetler 110, K2 Dispatch 110 ... or should I go down in waist width, maybe something around 105mm ?
    Excited to hear your thoughts :)

    • @SkiEssentials

      I'd say the more playful Bent 110 fits your style a bit more. The Kore and the Dispatch are pretty stiff, so I don't think that's what you're looking for. If you go down to 105ish, that opens up a bit more, like Enforcer 104 Unlimited, Blizzard Hustle 10, and Black Crows Atris. Have fun!

I've looked into the 120 model but its way too powder oriented obviously, but the 110 really seems like like a decent mix of all/big mountain and even touring, what do you think?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      Hello! Definitely a good mix of big mountain, touring, and all-mountain versatility. Good float too. It's not the strongest ski in the world for landing big cliffs and jumps, but certainly can work as long as you're a balanced skier and you get a long enough length. The tips and tails are very soft, something to keep in mind, but certainly sounds like it could work really well for you.

      @SkiEssentials  Год назад +1

      Hi Lucien! I can understand that being somewhat intimidating, but I do think 172 would be the right length for you. The Bent 110 is light, soft-flexing, and very easy to ski. I can't imagine the 172 being hard to handle, even if you're used to a shorter length. There's so much rocker in the Bent 110, it's going to ski quite short, until you're in really deep snow, and then you want the extra length anyways for the increased float. Don't worry too much about it, get the 172, I think you'll love it.

The Problem i have with the BC110 is the size, its max 188 cm whereas the Reckoner is 191cm and the BC120 192cm. The downside of the reckoner on the otherhand is the additional weight compared to the Bent Chetler. What would you recommend me?

    I’m 5’8” 150lbs and love my Bent 100s at 172 on factory mount point for all mountain skiing. I only ski switch to watch my kids but I do prefer a free ride / freestyle type of skiing especially in soft snow. I ski Mammoth primarily and am looking for a powder ski so I can stop renting during each storm cycle. I tried the 110 today and all the shop had was the 172. Felt like they were mounted close to center so the tips felt quite short. Super easy to throw around and the “extra” length in the tails was nice when landing in powder off side hits or in soft bumps. Float over semi tracked crud was excellent. Question is should I stick with the 172 and mount further back or go to 180 and mount factory. I never land switch but I kind of liked having more tail length on my powder ski. Any downside?

    • @SkiEssentials

      Hi Pat!
      I'd stick to the 172 and bump the bindings back a few cm. Maybe a -3 or 4 from the factory line. The 110 has the same mount point as the 120, which is further forward than in the 100 and 90, so it makes sense for a more directional skier to want to move the mount up. Have fun!

If it's only sometimes, and not that frequently, I'd go 100. The 100 is definitely more versatile. Better in park, carves better, etc. The 110 is a superior powder ski and super fun to ski, but has some limitations in the park and on groomers. Hope that helps! Sorry again for the slow reply.
