- A full cover of the classic ballad from Hysteria.
I thought I'd do something different and add the little bit of improv at the end that they sometimes do live. I really like some of Viv's licks from the Don Valley show when they played this style of outro.
I'm still searching for a decent clean sound. I'm struggling to find one that cuts through the mix without being too loud.

Steven Clark and Phil collen were the best guitar combination ever their parts always complimented each other they were so bad ass
So true. Steve Clark's contribution to the band has always been immeasurable. Lyrics and guitar riffs like no other.
Steve and Phil grew musically together. They learned how to complement each other. It's a beautiful thing.

The Don Valley solo by Viv is easily the best live performance of that song ever. Seen these guys live 5 times and only the extended version of Rocket came close
I'd like to cover that version too, certainly need to update this one to correct a few parts. I have covered the version of Rocket from Don Valley though which you may want to check out.

Absolutely. Vivian really introduced his talents to Leppard fans at that Don Valley show. That was he first show with them I believe. And I thought exactly what you do about he extra parts added and especially that ending to Love Bites. Awesome. I watched it over and over. it was amazing. I was already familiar with Vivian's style as I am a big Whitenake fan too. So I was impressed how his style fit into Def Leppard. Great guys too. I met them all in Vegas at the viva hysteria show. Whole Hysteria album played live in order. And i got VIP so they played a warmup show upstairs for us before the show. 6 songs and then we got to go meet them all. Good guys
Thanks! Viv's first show was the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. I have covered Now I'm Here from that show and I also covered Viv's solo from the Don Valley show also quite recently. This vid is very old so there would be a few things to improve on.

Im 38 and was a very young man when Leppard was blowing up...it's a good thing my father had good taste in music and that it rubbed off on me. Still to this day I prefer 70/80s rock over anything today.

Love Bites Live 1993 has got to be my new favorite version of the song, as much as I love the guitar playing of Steve Clark more than any other, they just blew that performance away. The guitar tones are crisp as hell. I need to learn that myself.
I absolutely live Def Leppard and would absolutely do anything at this point to get the correct sounds for lead clean and distortion!

I'm not a musician, just a forensic listener to DL music, and for me at least, the guitar work DL did in the studio for Love Bites appears to be technically difficult to replicate to a convincing degree, even going by their own live concerts. So well done for a superb effort; you could play stand-in should any of them fall ill during a tour.
