In my opinion Red didn't really cement himself as a badass until he kicked Giovanni out of Saffron city, and he didn't become properly untouchable until he caught all the legendaries and started training his main team in Mount Silver. Red as he is now would destroy Ash as he is now, nobody's questioning that. But Red with 1 badge against Ash just before or after Brock? That's more of an even fight, especially if attacking the trainers is allowed

That must be the strongest Bulbasaur ever, he clearly did not evolve at all but he's so strong he made it to the Indigo Plateu. Survived battling the Elite Four with no backup Pokemon.
The fact that you get kicked out of the house, fight other creatures, travel miles by yourself, and battle an elite group of trainers to be a champion of the whole region really makes you forget that you're 11 while doing all that.

Ik im late but bulbasaur is actually best against the first three not four. Erika has grass types too so bulbasaur cant attack her pokemon much but can resist attacks. Bulba still the best starter for gen 1 tho. 2nd would be squirtle.
