I'm Asian and i'm living in the UK right now. There was a lot of racism towards me, most of them are young people, sometimes they were just walking in and shouting at my face and then laughing and walking away. But it made me feel so bad and it made me want to end my course quickly and then go back home. I hope that kind of people stop being racism or at least try to keep it with yourself. Don't hurt anyone's feelings. I hope they could think about it like you do. Anyway thank you for your reaction 😚 One ok rock is the best ❤
The Chinese face changing dancer depicts that he's changing himself to fit in. If you rewatch the video he changes to blonde and blue eyes. It's a sad reality of Asians outside of Asia. It's a very heavy video when it comes to the message and I never fail to tear up while watching it.
This MV brings back a lot of bad memories for me as being teased/bullied in school as I was the ONLY minority there. As well as, for being the "adopted kid" too. Unfortunately, I couldn't get away from any of it, cuz I was being abused at home by both my parents and older brother so I had no one to help me. At school I was bullied by teachers, Bus Driver, and classmates. Even my own friends wouldn't talk to me in school since they were popular and I wasnt. In turn, they only hung out with me outside of school and even then I was still wasn't treated nicely by them and they try to get me in trouble whenever they did something bad as well. So, I was blamed for all of it and their mother's always sided with their kids and so, they didn't like me either. It also didn't help that listened to rock/metal and KPop music in Junior High and High school as this was in the late '90's thru to 2003. At that time they had found out after I had done a school talent show in which, I sang/danced to KPop Idol, BoRa's song called, Number 1 and that's how they found out that I listened to KPop music. I never did another school talent show after that, as I was boo'ed the whole entire time, so embarrassing. Now, of course everyone is into KPop music and it's the "in" thing to listen these days lol. I still face racism at my job in the hospital where I have patients that yell and tell me not to even step foot in their room cuz I'm Asian. They even tell me how much they hate Asian ppl. Sum have no reason for it or I have sum who had a 1 bad interaction with an Asian person. So, they now shun all ppl of Asian descent after that. I don't know how many times at stores or just in public where I was refused service cuz of my race or they refuse to speak with me cuz they assume I don't speak English, even before I say a single word, or even after I tell them I speak English just fine and they still mention they don't have a translator available, so I still need to leave their store. Likely, it's getting a tiny bit better tho. But, I don't understand when ppl ask me what my name is and I tell them but, their like I mean ur real name as in what's my Korean name as I'm Korean and then they ask me how was it living in North Korea and how did I escape, lol. These are popular silly questions I get a lot when I meet new ppl. Anyways, I recommend the song, Fight the Night as well by One Ok Rock. I think Taka's vocals shine in this song as well. Only if u have the time.
There was an article that said, ``The music video was directed by Peter Huang, an Oriental Canadian.'' His last name is "Huang" (how do you pronounce it?), so he doesn't seem to be himself or a person of Japanese descent. If you feel uncomfortable, that may be the reason. By the way, it seems that the director comes up with the scenario for the music video.
