I enjoyed the DiC dubs in 1998 and 1999. I was 14. Because of that and other situations, it was one of the happiest times of my life.
When I got to see the Viz rereleases with subtitles, it was like seeing it the first time, all over again. So many wonderful memories of my teen years.
I miss the DiC dubs. I kno the controversy. But “Serena” was nostalgic. I remember it coming on USA? I believe than eventually years later toonami before it went off air. I wish I could find the DiC dubs

I think about the jokes and other things that get removed. That is another reason that seeing the subtitled versions felt like seeing it for the first time, again.

@@BlueStarsNY There are changes, actually! Changed menus + They are fixed a lot of the video issues and the quality is better, check out fredjfrancis on twitter for all the changes they made! They posted screenshots and videos of the differences!

The old two part sets are so expensive, so can't wait to buy this and finally have Season 1.Really curious to know if these are the exact same as the original 2014/2015 sets or not though.

PSA: This sailor moon blu ray release has SIGNIFICANTLY improved video quality from the first blu ray release viz media put out. This is not just a simple repackage but the best home video release of sailor moon currently !
I grew up with the Dic dub. But I LOVE the viz media dub. So much better and they have ALL the episodes that weren’t aired in the U.S until now. Plus I love sailor moon. She was my very first magical girl and one of the reasons why I love anime today
I only like the Viz dub, but gonna watch it in japanese. Can't stand some of the bad voices they used. For me some of the sailor scouts sound horrible. Sailor moon being one kinda ruins it for me since she is the main character. Kinda like people don't like Goku/gohan in japanese. Here she tried abit too hard to sound a certain way it backfired or it was just simply a miscast for me. But she was only one voice of the couple I really didn't like. So japanese it is, ashame too I want to watch english dub. The dic dub listening to it in youtube comparison sound much more natural, emotional, and better. Especially later seasons. It made me hear the voices clearer listening to both dubs and surprisingly the Dic dub sounds way better despite its age. Older anime had some great voice acting compared to now in some shows.
I love both dubs a lot and seriously enjoy both of them. The dic dub is quite fun and a blast but the viz dub is just as fantastic. A shame they didn’t have the music from the dic dub though
@@charlottepitt100 The music from the DIC dub is one of my fav parts. Love all those flute themes they added then of course "Carry On" when Princess Serenity faces off against Queen Beryl
@@Fate862 yeah not so much of a fan of the Viz dub either. Feel like they were trying too hard to emulate the Japanese one, but then some of the scouts ended up sounding so similar and their characters seem a bit washed out in comparison. I really appreciate what DiC did in the beginning (before their budget got slashed :/ ). Some really stellar performances and some of those Serena's pack so much emotion. Jupiter's is an absolute favourite of mine.
@@Skyfighter070 The author approving the voices for being close to the Japanese kind of set it up for that. Kind of hindered it though.

The Viz Version English Dub is much longer than the Dic English Dub Version from Sailor Moon

I was 7 years old when she invented me. When I played at the Cheese park in West Los Angeles, a boy told me I could't be Sailor Moon and that I had to be a Tuxedo Mask because I was a boy. I said gross. Why would I wanna be him? He is always the one getting saved. At best he showed up in the final showdowns or when it was reaching that climax to give Usagi the extra boost she needed for him. Why? She was saving him more than half the time and half the battles. She never needed as much saving as he did. So Mamoru was not my ideal to wanna pretend to be. I STILL wanna be Sailor Star Healer. And I will always love Makoto from the Inner Senshi most. ANd as far as the Planet that Governs and watches over me along with my Element? Hotaru and her Senshi Guardian Planet will always be the one Planet in the entire Solar System both from the Inner and Outer Planets. Since Saturn is both the Planet that Governs me as much as my Element being that of Earth. I'd swing it too. Without hesitation. If I needed to...that Silence Glaive would be the Death Reborn Revolution that might give our Planet its best chance at a clean slate. When even I in my Soul...my entire being..that Sailor Saturn...the most feared and misunderstood Sailor Soldier Guardian was the one Planet not meant to be known as the Sailor Star of Destruction...but she rather...she was definitely my Salvation and my Saving Grace. That helped me...understand me the most. The irony is...Hotaru, Tomoe...gave us all the biggest Cosmic chance. The very Planet...and the very Element she us also under...she swore to protect...all the way out there...misunderstood..from Saturn. Even if it meant giving everyone that second chance...at the cost...of herself. So yes. I will trust my Planet Power. Thanks to Saturn. Ans the rest of the Moon Kingdom's Guardians. Who eventually understood her...but only because of young miss. A very Small Lady...with a very big heart. And for that...I must pay my respect to Crystal Tokyo. They never would have had a chance to even happen...for not one..brave young miss..to come back...to make sure...we'd all exist by then. I think she knew a thing or two about what it felt like to have...a certain Dark identity crisis. So I am happy for both those two. Since Sailor Moon..gave birth to..the real me. I had just forgotten is all. Thank you...Naoko Takeuchi. You saved and generation from itself. To then..become its truest self. I lived this long..because of you. You invented me...vicariously through your own children of the Moon...who are the Stars that guide me still. For myself...I thank you. My love is alive...because of you.

Sailor Moon Crystal and Eternal are all based on the original manga (comic book) Version by the series creator. The way I see it Moonies should be fair and not divided when it comes to what preference they watch or view which series of Sailor Moon is better.

Will this be any different from the set that came out back in 2015? I'm asking as I own a copy of the season set combo pack (Blu-Ray & DVD) that was already released.
This uses the Toei masters instead of the Viz masters from original releases. Much better picture quality.
Though it’s strange, it feels like this trailer is using some video from the old Viz masters for some reason.

I still can't believe I watched this as as a kid in front of adults like it was nothing and now as an adult I get nervous watching anime in front of other adults. Still I'm glad this got remastered so new generations can watch it, still gonna miss the original voice cast.
I glad I got the whole series on DVD also the movies too. Worth the wait wonder if I get the Blu ray one day.
For sure upgrade to the new Bluray releases way better quality. The 4th set is due out this month. You wont regret it.

As usual release parts 1+2 for 70$ each costing 140$ a season or wait 2-3+ years and pay 70$(half price) for the whole season......
After 8 years I think I'm finally going to finish this. I'm about half way through season 5. All I know is that in the last episode I watched, in the "next time" credits. I saw a little dark pink haired toddler with heart shaped buns and I have no idea who she is. 😂 No one spoil it! Or in the name of the moon, I'll punish you. 🤪 I couldn't help myself. Though mine should actually be "I'll make you feel so much regret, it'll leave you numb!" Because you know... Sailor Jupiter is my favorite.

Sailor Moon The Viz Version English Dub digitally remastered on Blu Ray
I wished Viz would make more complete DVD collection for other past anime Series that were broadcast in UK, USA and Australia like Cardcaptors, Original Beyblade Series, Spider Riders, Ultimate Muscle and Yo Kai Watch. Because they deserved to be released onto complete DVD collection more than Sailor Moon And Pokemon.
Beyblade and Yo-Kai Watch have complete series sets here. I mean... Yo-Kai Watch is a Blu-Ray and Beyblade is a SD Blu-Ray.

Question. I already have all 5 seasons of the Blu-ray/DVD limited edition sets. Is there a difference in this Blu-ray only release? Or am I ok with what I already have? I would have thought that the Limited edition sets are already in high quality, at least on the Blu-ray discs of each set.

I am very confused. People are saying this isn't a repackage but an upgrade. I see no difference between what Viz already put on blu ray, which I own, and this, and not by the video quality of this trailer either. Both sets boast 1080p HD resolution, original 4x3 aspect ratio, English and Japanese stereo audio, English subtitles. With the exception of maybe some extras, where is the difference, besides packaging them into one set instead of two? Why would someone (me or otherwise) replace Viz' original blu ray release with the new one? In other words, why would paying for the new set be worth it, aside from collecting purposes? I'm not looking for argument; just justification for it and if I am missing something.
These are gonna be NEW and COMPLETE Sailor moon season sets with new HD transfers using Toei's/Japanese Blu-Rays. These won't come with DVD discs or a booklet.
I hope there is commentary on some of the episodes

I gotta rewatch that.. It been so long... That is/those are (some of) the most iconic "transformation(s)" in (anime) history (in my opinion at least). I especially/def gotta rewatch both english dubs/versions too.. the 1st for nostalgia (and for just being a "classic" lol) of course lol, and idc what anyone says, it had a very nice and "simple" charm to me.. To each their own tho.. I also gotta watch the "new(er)" version still as well.
Crazy I recently just finished the first two season Sailor moon and Sailor moon R and I loved them but the dubbed for Sailor moon S is oh lordy lord
