- This is our Corley Junior, 27" edger. Edgers are used around sawmills to trim the boards that still have bark on the edges. It can trim one or both side of the board. It has two 14" blades. The left blade is stationary on the shaft while the right blade slides left or right on the shaft to adjust the width of the board. This is our first time using the edger after being totally restored. This edger was manufactured in 1946. This video was taken on the first run after a total restoration.
Seeing the look of happiness on that mans face makes me reminisce of days with my uncle as a child. Thank you for sharing this
Nice find on the Corley edger , I have always loved older machines of any kind with just a little TLC and they run better then the new stuff and look way cooler
Nice edger! I just bought a Corley edger myself and will bring it home next week; Lord willing. I am not sure which model I have yet, but it is a 2 blade.
Love it! I have a home made 4 post bandsaw mill after seeing your vids and your beautiful corely i sir have been inspired to scour the south and find one of my own. No way i could build one as awesome as yours!
It really does increase production.
I have one almost identical to yours, bit mine is a 3 blade. It needs paint, but works excellent. Do you know how much they are worth? I don't know much about ledgers. I'd just like to sell mine
Ryan Clonch were you located
Ryan Clonch do you still have one for sale?
Keith, mine is an older junior 21". I will get it prepped for primer and paint this Spring.
That old man so damn happy
Were they BLUE in 1946? My 1956 came out Corley GREEN, Nice
Keith, mine is mostly Corley that has a wood frame and only measures 21 1/4" inside the saw frame (width). It as well is a two blade. Mine is missing the data plate, so I have no idea what I have. Do you have a Corley edger manual on the computer that you could send me? Thanks and very good job on your Corley.
+Trever Jones I contacted Corley and they were very helpful. They sent me some information on the edger.
Your feed speed is to high for the rpm of the blades , wood miser also makes an excellant board edger , any one with a wood miser band saw mill should own one .
I have what I believe is s edger from 1940 era and serial number is oo6 and looking for a couple of parts for it where can I look or number for parts am sand blasting and painting lime green to match my mill
How much for that edger
How accurate is it? I have an old Belsaw 802 edger I am working on and over a 9 ft board I keep getting about a 1/4 in curve in it. My indeed setup only has spurs on it though it does not have a pressure roller on the indeed like yours.
+Kip Sterchi Does your edger have the out feed guild that rides in the Kerf that the stationary brade just cut? I would think that is what keeps the board running straight.
+Keith Kinney It does have the guide. Good job on yours by the way, it looks great!
+Kip Sterchi Then I'm not really sure what to tell you. Thanks, we really enjoy using it.
+Keith Kinney I am thinking I need to add something on the indeed side to add pressure to the board to keep it down. As it is now I can move the board with my hand from side to side.
+Kip Sterchi That would probably help. We also try to keep it tight against the left, in feed guide with our hands as it is going through to blades. Can only do that if you have one edge straight already.
