Travelled from Australia to watch Elbow live for the second time - my absolute favourite band! The most beautiful emotions hearing their unique sound and Guy’s voice 🥰🥰🥰
Audience choir at the end of One Day Like This actually brought me tears. Unbelievable. When the world feels like it's falling apart a little more every day, moments like that make me feel patched up again
I remember standing in the middle of that crowd a little tipsy, goosebumps everywhere... also the moment the lights came on for mirrorball, just jaw droppingly beaaaaaauuuutifull! my first time elbow live was a great one
I don't feel that Elbow can be catagorized as a 'rock band.' Their music is far deeper. Their songs are an expression of pure emotions. Their music weaves, and soares, and captivates. Their songs are complex, the arrangements inventive and unexpected. It's not that I always like the choices of instrumentation, but the overall impact is to evoke emtions of hope, loss, longing, and pure joy. Speaking as a musician myself, I understand and appreciate the use of modes, harmonies, etc. I also see how much painstaking attention to detail has been involved in the composition and arrangements of each song. In short, Elbow are exceptional, standing far above the numerous mundane and predictable groups which are also main acts at fesivals and concert halls. The word 'originality' can be overused - but in the case of the music of Elbow, it is absolutely the case. And for me, there's another word which has to be spoken - inspiration. The music of Elbow is inspired, and inspiring.

It is very upsetting to see Elbow without Richard Jupp behind the drum kit... The band grew up as friends together in Bury and to see the first split in their ranks is desperately sad.... I hope Richard has a great life as a drum teacher and I also hope Elbow continue to produce brilliant music ... An album as epic as THE SELDOM SEEN KID would do nicely.
EnosEverything just saw this now. Richard made the decision solely on his own and the lads were devastated. I myself know the rigours for touring and the life it requires. It’s not for many. If you’re not of that mindset, it can tear you apart in every way. He’s doing amazingly well. To add, the seat has been filled quite well, but Richie will never be replaced❤️❤️
@@MetricMod Thankyou so much for this reply my friend... I am glad Richard is travelling so well in life.. Yes, the rigours of being on the road, living out of hotels and barely knowing which country, let alone which city you are in , must take its toll and if you have a young wife and children then the problem is exacerbated to a different level again.. I note that Alex is only classed as a session musician and not a fully fledged member of Elbow which obviously suits both parties... Ian Anderson used to have many people playing in Jethro Tull over the years but basically it was he and Martin Barre who were J.T for a hell of a long time... Frank Zappa and Steely Dan had similar policies... All the best to you my friend in these times of lock downs with the pandemic... I'm in Brisbane and restrictions are slowly about to be relaxed here in Queensland.
God this band is amazing!!! Just wish they would come to the states more often.
