I went to his concert at Merriweather reluctantly with my boyfriend even though I had no interest in him. Little did I know, when I watched him perform, I fell in love with his voice, his genuine enjoyment of performing, his lyrics. This was one of the songs he performed in the middle of the concert. When he began, people began to sit down from getting tired of cheering. I had a clear view of him and could see every facial expression, hear every vocal inflection and I felt like he was singing to me. He introduced this song as a song he would like to give to his future soulmate and I had never seen such a genuine performer.
This is my new favorite song. And if anyone ever has an opportunity to watch Sam Smith perform live, do it. You won't regret it, he is incredible live and recordings cannot do him justice.

gg dret I'm glad you're able to be nice about your response. For you to have that opinion about her is flawed because you don't see the person that she represents. I've filtered through artists and out of all of them she is the most genuine and passionate about what she does and it shows through her voice. Of course she has the slightly provocative songs but she has always been open to expressing her sexuality. She also has a TON of extremely touching and personal songs. Just to list a few "Beautiful", "Lift Me Up", "I'm OK", "You Lost Me", "Hurt", etc etc etc. If you decide to stand behind your claims then I would find that absurd because she is an awesome person to look up to especially because of how humble she is outside of her stage performances. Based on the way you talk you seem to think you know her as an artist but you don't. If you care enough to I would really recommend checking out some of the songs I mentioned and maybe even watching an interview. If you don't care enough, then that's cool too, I just think it would be appropriate to know her more as an artist to say the things you are saying. Best xixi

He absolutely blew me away with his talent that night -- I honestly cannot remember the last time I was anywhere near that impressed with a singer. I am a grown woman, not a young girl who falls in love with every male singer and boy band that hits the charts. I have a more "adult" taste in music....and I can NOT stop listening to Sam! I think he will appeal to all age groups, though -- and that is not easy to do. I have raved to everyone I know about this "new" talent (because he IS new over here!), and I am very excited for his album. It will be a must-buy for me!
