This was a very good question and answer session. You have inspired me. I have been in wood working all my life. Back in 2011 I came down with cancer and had a radical operation. I ended up in a wheelchair. I thought my life was over. I saw your work bench that folds down and got the idea to build them. I have 7 of them that comes up to my level in my wheelchair so I can work from it. It has sure renewed my zeal to use my craft. Thank you.
The absolute best part of watching ANY of your videos is your ability to speak well and to the point. Your ability to laugh at yourself and make me giggle along with you is what keeps me coming back for more. Your awesome skills are a bonus. You do inspire me.
Have to say this is my favorite of all your videos.. I live about 150 miles north north west of Fort Worth in Oklahoma and I understand your words perfectly! Thanks for sharing not only your thoughts and opinions but your family with us.. To me your biggest asset is your confidence in all you do followed by your family values and support.. Thanks again for sharing!
Your parents are adorable April. I wish mine were that supportive when I made radical life decisions! You're husband seems great too, and it's wonderful that you two have complementary interests. You are all fortunate to have each other. Thank you for your positivity and willingness to learn (and fail) in the public eye. Wishing you fulfilment in all that you endeavor.
April, thank you for taking time to answer questions and bring us closer into your life. As a community, I have found nothing but the most humble of people in woodworkers, you are included. Thank you for what you do! Stay dusty.
Thanks for sharing so much of yourself and a big thanks to your family for being a part of the video and for being such an important part of your life. You and your work are inspirational to many who see the videos whether to build or just to try something new that they have never done before.
Thanks April for sharing your videos. I enjoy your energy and laughter during and after your projects! My daughter, when she was 5, would take scraps, popsicle sticks, glue and nails and have a great time. I miss the good old days. Thank you.
I started out making comments on your building your shop segment, but finally waited until the end. I cannot remember having "met" someone who is so positive and uplifting and I thank the Gods for the opportunity. Thank you April
It has been an amazing journey to watch April progress in her use of tools and the projects taken on. Usually the projects do not have a definite plan but just an idea and a sketch (sometimes a sketch). It is truly amazing how well the projects turn out. Having a mind to come up with the ideas and then the co-ordination and ability to put it all together is a gift. Then of course having the personality to go along with it makes it all work very well.
@3:20 - I think the reason I enjoy your videos so much is because you show where you may have messed up, and you also explain how to work through a problem that you may have run into. When I watch other videos where the project comes out perfect the first time, I get a little frustrated because I know my experience wont even come close to that. Seeing you think through a problem helps me to do the same. Also, since you do work alone, I get to see "pro-tips" like using another 2x4 to hold up a shelf while you install it.
Love your show. I never qualify your work as done by a female woodworker. However I would be super proud if my daughters turn out as independent and confident as you seem to be. The little one in my profile pic just finished her first birdhouse with me!
As an amateur woodworker, i came across yr videos while looking for ideas to revamp my shed. I enjoy yr builds and I love seeing such an independent and skilled young woman. I try to instill these same qualities in my own daughter. She has got on the tools with me a few times and did a great job. Also want to say that your family is amazing. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺😁
As an experienced wood-worker, what I most enjoy about you is your ability to learn new things, and not be afraid to try anything. (and BTW, you finally convinced this "old-timer" to purchase a pocket screw jig!!! :-) ) Keep up the great work. I enjoy every episode!!
My wife and I have watched most of your videos and really enjoy them. You have a great family and this was a very nice video with them. Don't worry about the people that take issue with some of the words that you use, you are an individual unlike anyone else. That is what makes this world so neat, we are all different. Thank you for all the great videos that you have made and all of us have enjoyed and allowed us to learn from them.
Your advice about doing/building what interests you is perhaps the best advice that can be given. My interest in carpentry as a kid was pretty much destroyed by the way it was taught in school. Fortunately, it has recovered in the last few decades, mostly because I no longer have someone dictating what and when. Please keep up your great work.
Awesome Q & A. You inspire me. My husband and I are cleaning our garage and going thru tools we have, organizing and making room to do some projects. I do Onestroke painting and am always looking for surfaces to work on, so I told him I'm a just make my own like April does. So at 51 I'm gonna learn woodworking. Thanks for being so awesome.
Very well put together Q&A story of how you got stated in woodworking, I am 71 years old and just starting in woodworking , you are an inspiration and looking forward to more of your videos
Hi April, I love you channel and your projects it is a true inspiration to my woodworking. I just love how you talk about the work and not over complicate things. Keep going this way, I love it. Paul Janzen
I got a let you know I have been watching your vids for a lil bit, and my 15yr old girl was so inspired with your wood working she decided to take wood working in high school. Now this summer we are going to be building your queen bed w/ head board. It's awesome she has taken to it so well!!! THANK YOU.
It's great to see a family that loves and supports each other, also enjoy what they do for a living, as for the accent or the way people pronounce things, being Scouse, I'm well used to it when travelling around. Thank's for all your vids and looking forward to many more.
April, love your videos! I'm a very capable woodworker but I have still yet learned a lot for your works, thank you! And your husband and father are the true definition of real men, inspiring you to succeed and become better at what you do!
April, that is an inspired video! Normally you'd expect a Q&A to have you sitting down, reading a question and answering it. The way you staged this video kept it continually interesting. It was great to 'meet' the others in your family too. And that meal you're all preparing looked pretty yumm. Made me hungry. You are getting better and better at video production, and I always learn something from what you do. Thank you!
Thanks for letting us meet your family. I applaud your attitude and that of your Father. Figuring things out is half the fun. I always think that if it already broken you can't make it worse so go ahead and try to fix it. Please be safe in your shop and keep the videos coming. (I am a self taught woodworker for over 40 years and am now trying to learn metal working)
April, I watch your videos for a long time, I even traslate to my mom, she also like to do woodworking and metalworking, as you said, to solve problems! you are a big inspiration to me, i learned a lot from you!
Great to see you with your family! It is so important to enjoy your family as much as you can-while you can...time slips away on us! I really enjoy your videos! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
April .... I have to say ............. ive watched you from the your beginning ... have always liked you but have never been overly impressed .................. that being said ... this video with your family and you being a lot more open to .. us ... has pulled me completely into your corner ............... keep going as you do ............... and thank you for being there . !!!!
I love that you incorporated your family dynamics into this video, it truly shows the love they all have for you. You're such an inspiring woman. I find it kinda hard to learn how to do certain diy for my house as is made of bricks and concrete, which is common in my country (Mexico) and I hate that I can't do anything cause I can't afford tools and no one wants to share knowledge about it... :(
This is by far the most amazing Q & A session I have ever seen on the tube, the fact your family picks the questions, and you respond, plus you are not in a woodworking context, people see your day to day life, and how you balance your " home job" with your relationships...helps people to understand your reality, like you work 6 days a week...By the way I subscribed on your channel a couples of year ago, and I love your videos about "organizing" , french cleat...the shops...I need now to reorganize my shop, downsize my workbench because it's too big and my workspace is limited....
I just started in wood turning, and purchased a Nova Comet midi lathe. It's been great so far. And I'm certainly glad that I took a couple of classes. It's such a totally different thing.
April the whole family was great to see them sharing you with us, thanks. Appreciate all that you do and like the way you come across in your videos. God bless.
I ran across a video of yours about a week ago and have become an instant fan. I love the projects you have done and i see the passion you have with wood working. Keep up the great work and I cant wait to see more videos.
GREAT Family April! You definitely are a "chip off the block". Great Q & A. It's nice to get to know you and your Family a little more. They are all so supportive. Look forward to more of these vids too! Thanks for sharing some of your personal life!
What a GREAT video. I'm from Ft Worth and living in Phoenix, AZ. Watching this Q&A was just like hangin out with a friend at her folks house and gettin stuff done. I miss TX!
I appreciate your videos, your creativity along with patience shows in all that you do. Several questions: 1. Making RUclips videos, what equipment do you use, what programs are used for editing? A. What was used at start? B. What are you using now? 2. Do you sell your wood/metal working products? If so where? 3. Suppliers, who do you use for wood supplies? 4. Do you ever plan on putting out a cost of each of your projects analysis? I am limited to only having $200 a month to spend, this would help. Once again thank you for your videos, I am just starting out. Never owned a wood working tool, but at 54 yrs old, it's a great time to start. Fellow, DFW person (Aledo actually). Thanks again. Keep making videos, wife enjoys watching them too, but I really think she just likes making fun out of "What would Wilker do?"
April, your youtube videos are great. But this Q&A video is the best. I really enjoyed seeing and hearing you and your family. Great job, and thanks for sharing.
Hi April, as much as I like your woodworking youtube videos this one was really important. It was a chance to l meet your family and see how you all relate and how they are supportive/proud of you. What a blessing!
+Jay Capistrant and April; I second that, that is exactly what I was thinking. Such a loving supportive family. Testament that you have great, loving parents. And so awesome that neither man in your life is emasculated by you. It would definitely be easy to be, you are one talented chick!
+Jay Capistrant and April; forgot to add that Cody is obviously not insecure and is self confident enough that he is not overshadowed by you in what is "typically" or traditionally a man's craft. The best to all of you and your obvious happiness working together. Life can't get better than that. And April your laugh is infectious!
I have to be honest my family and I were starting to drift away. This is by far one of my favorite episodes or video. We are back on with you even if you are from Texas. These Okies will keep watching!
Honestly I started woodworking the same way. Spent a lot of money for a dresser and knew I needed more of these so thought it would be easier to build them myself. And it comes out much better as I customize everything I build with my personal touch! :)
Awesome video April. I really like the the way you changed up the clips to include several locations and how there was every day stuff going on. It really makes you feel like you are there participating in the conversation.
You totally inspire me! Just recently found your channel and every time I finish watching one of your videos I can't wait to start a new woodworking project. You are awesome!
Thanks Wilkerson for Inspiring others and just being yourself. Love your work and the awesome effort & dedication you give, it makes the process and project well appreciated. I'm also from the South (AL) and I pronounce (Saw) as you do. It's a Southern thing, hopefully I can get the courage to make a video soon. Thumbs up girl!!!
I don't usually check out the Q&A videos but this is one that I am glad I watched. I have been enjoying your videos since the beginning. Keep doing everything exactly as you are .... It is great. THANKS for letting us learn with you P.S. .....it's OK to use miracle whip - I like it too
You are way more mature, focused, and grounded than most younger people these days. Your parents raised a great kid...even if your mom did teach you to say "saw" with an "L" on the end. I hope your channel continues to grow and that you find even greater happiness to come. Thanks for your videos!
I thought your Q&A was completely awesome. You moved it around, included your family to ask the questions, and you kept busy doing it. We finally got a change to to more of your family and how you interacted with them. Your husband has been in a few of your video, but usually a partial view. Now we can see the other half and have his name. I've seen your dad in one of your videos, but never your mom. It is great that you included all of them. You all did a great job and I look forward to you videos. I believe that you need to find what you love to do and find a way to make a living doing it. That is one mark of success you can check off. Congratulations, April!
Very cool Q&A. I have said before and and will again. Your path into woodworking is so close to mine. No one in my family really had the interest I have and I learned to make things as I need something instead of buying them.
LOVE, Love, Love your videos and your authentic approach to life. I enjoy watching you with your family. I believe that your success is a direct result of doing what you love. Best wishes for continued success!
Exceptional Video !!! You are an extremely Articulate Woman !!! I LOVED the casual format and the inclusion of your Family. Truly an inspired format !!! Very Creative, Frank and Informative. Loved This Video !!!!
I think your doing a great job on your videos. I am starting a wood shop myself and have already made a 2 stage dust collector from your videos and plan on making farm tables and custom picture frames because I am also a photographer. Keep up the good work.
This was great! Nice to meet Cody and your dad. They seem like great guys who are truly supportive of you. Was also glad to know that that "l" you tack on to the end of words isn't my imagination.
April; sorry I missed you at the Rockler store in California, maybe you'll come out this way again. Enjoy your videos very much, and hope you keep them coming. I see you're a 'Miracle Whip' girl, go for it!!!
April you videos are so good. The way you talk, did way you do your job’s. It all makes you April, don’t change. Love what you do. Cool dad, mom, & husband. 🧡🧡🧡🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hey April, LOVE the format of this video. It really helps us know you a little bit more as a person. It was great that you included your family too. Very down to earth and family oriented and connected.
Thanks for putting this up! I enjoy your videos 100% and it was fun seeing the family behind the camera too. I look forward to seeing more projects as they come along and to use the information to further my own projects! You rock, April!
A few things: 1) You and your family are awesome. :) 2) I love the format. Well done. 3) Not all pallets are created equal. The cheaper crappy ones you can get almost anywhere there's a receiving dock. (Grocery stores, big-box stores, etc.) Many of them will give them to you for free, others might charge a nominal fee. Look for the places that are happy to see them go (since it's a pain for them to get rid of them.) You can typically get better pallets (which is to say the harder woods) from places that have to transport heavy equipment. Things like engines or heavy machine parts. Places like motorcycle dealerships or parts stores etc. Your mileage may vary depending on location, but I'd have to assume there's some place in the DFW area.
April, I never comment on anything , but what you do inspires a lot of us! I enjoy watching you and Jon Peters. Great video, I feel like I've known you for a long time! You Tube can fix anything.
I live and work in the furnace too. I'm a little over 100 miles East of you in Longview. I love the dynamic between you and your husband. You guys make a good team. Your parents seem pretty amazing too.
Hi April thank you for posting this great video it was lovely to see another side of your life and meet your parents and other half I used to do a lot of woodworking but now it's more model engineering working with metal but at the end of the day it's still turning stock into something beautiful and developing your skills. I built both my hobby room which houses my model railway and the workshop where I'm building a small traction engine it may not be everyone's cup of tea but hey it keeps me out of mischief. Darren
You should do make videos with your Family, I love watch your would working videos. But watching your inter-react with your family and husband is true priceless. I don't really know how to fully explain it but we need more of families being together and supporting each other like yours do. Keep up the great work and I too do follow John Peters, great guy and a great channel just like yours.
*This video has been THE best Q&A session I've ever seen!* I love how personable you made it by inviting/welcoming us into your personal life. That was a nice touch. Great questions and answers!
Thank you.
God bless you and full speed ahead!
The absolute best part of watching ANY of your videos is your ability to speak well and to the point. Your ability to laugh at yourself and make me giggle along with you is what keeps me coming back for more. Your awesome skills are a bonus. You do inspire me.
That was the coolest QA format! Really fun to watch.
I agree!!!

Truly a loving family. You are a nice person April. I look forward to seeing your grow over the next years. Thank you for your inspiration.
Having a mind to come up with the ideas and then the co-ordination and ability to put it all together is a gift. Then of course having the personality to go along with it makes it all work very well.
I love the easy intimacy of your family. Great answers from everybody.
@3:20 - I think the reason I enjoy your videos so much is because you show where you may have messed up, and you also explain how to work through a problem that you may have run into.
Holy crap! The way your dad stood there beaming with pride while you were at the sink was Adorable!

Great to see you with your family! It is so important to enjoy your family as much as you can-while you can...time slips away on us! I really enjoy your videos! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
By far one of the cooler Q&A sessions I've seen. Very natural and fun.
April .... I have to say ............. ive watched you from the your beginning ... have always liked you but have never been overly impressed .................. that being said ... this video with your family and you being a lot more open to .. us ... has pulled me completely into your corner ............... keep going as you do ............... and thank you for being there . !!!!
I liked how your family and you were working while answering the question. Much better than just sitting around.

Great Q and A. Including your family made it very special. You did Ft. Worth proud. Thanks.
Best advice.... "make what's interesting to you" . GREAT advice April !!!!! Thanks for all your videos! Have a great weekend!! ☺
Loved the honest interaction between you , your family and us the followers. Best video you have done .
Wow! What a great Q & A, I am very impressed with how you brought all your family into it.

It was great seeing your family and dogs and how supportive they all are not just of you but of each other.
Nice video April!
I appreciate your videos, your creativity along with patience shows in all that you do.
Several questions:
Love your Q+A concept. Thank you for sharing a personal interview of your world!
April, your youtube videos are great. But this Q&A video is the best. I really enjoyed seeing and hearing you and your family. Great job, and thanks for sharing.
I loved this style of video q and a. It was not just a static pair of people sitting in front of a camera. Keep it up April. You are really great.

"Absorbing information is empowering", I agree, especially when you get to use that information/knowledge.
You are way more mature, focused, and grounded than most younger people these days. Your parents raised a great kid...even if your mom did teach you to say "saw" with an "L" on the end. I hope your channel continues to grow and that you find even greater happiness to come. Thanks for your videos!
awww, your mum is so lovely and encouraging x
Great format. Nice to see you spending time with the family and including us in that time as well. Thanks!
This is the best Q&A format ever. Your family is lovely.
Nicely done....Its great to see a close knit family all interacting with you....Dont see enuf of that nowadays...thanx for sharing your time with us.
I`M A HUGE FAN OF ALL YOUR BUILDS!!!!! you make it look easy that anybody can do it.
Love the format... Felt like I was there just hanging out.
Agreed, it felt so intuitive. Good style!
Agree great format.
My thoughts exactly.
Very cool Q&A. I have said before and and will again. Your path into woodworking is so close to mine. No one in my family really had the interest I have and I learned to make things as I need something instead of buying them.
I have to say, you have an amazing outlook on life, and you have people behind your that support you 100%. I am impressed
Thank you for sharing time with your family! Y'all are terrific!
Loved This Video !!!!
at 2:00 in, that hit home a little bit for me. The face your dad made was nice and proud. I like that! good job.
That proud look on her dads face when she gave him credit for her resourcefulness. ❤️
: ) Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for putting this up! I enjoy your videos 100% and it was fun seeing the family behind the camera too. I look forward to seeing more projects as they come along and to use the information to further my own projects! You rock, April!
Very cool and original way to do a Q & A. It was nice to learn more about you and your family.
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
: ) Aw thanks. Yeah I got lucky with having a great family.
What a sweet mom when she said, I'm impressed...you inspire me!" Ya gotta love that! Great Q&A!
You are lucky to have such a supportive and loving family. Congrats!
Darren
That was way, way better than any Q&A I’ve seen on RUclips, well done.
Thanks! It was fun to do and glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
So fun to see you guys, loved hanging out with your family!
What a Great look at you and your family! You are one of the few female woodworkers on YT so keep up the good job. Thankz
Awesome video, April. Thanks for sharing your answers and your time with your family. I felt like I was hanging out with all y'all. :)
April, it's really nice to "see" the "person" I've been following for a couple of years. Enjoyed the whole family being involved, great idea
Great! What super nice folks y'all are. This is my favorite video yet.
The best Q & A video I have seen. I was able to feel the love of your family. Keep up the great work.
One of the best Q&As in the most recent batch - really like how it was done with your family. Very cool.
This was the most entertaining Q&A I've ever watched. Love the format.
Very genuine. Gotta luv Texans. Warm feeling all the way around. Nice.
*This video has been THE best Q&A session I've ever seen!* I love how personable you made it by inviting/welcoming us into your personal life. That was a nice touch. Great questions and answers!
: ) Thank you
