Sweet! Had this EXACT same issue in my wife's 06 last night. I used my test light and found exact same results. Called the parts store ran down got a switch for $13. Biggest pain in the ass was laying down the seat and getting in upside down and getting my 6'3" 300+ frame under the dash to get the little nut behind the bracket to hold it in place!! But this saved me tons of time! Thanks again
Comparing electricity to running water with the wiring schematic was a good analogy. I know next to nothing about cars, but this was so helpful for me figuring out my 2007 Sonata's lights. My brake lights are shorting out at random. Sometimes they work fine, other times they are off and I'm really happy to have found this video to get me confident enough to fix it myself.

Question: 2005 hyundai sonata glove box and ashtray fuse location? both went out at same time. assume they share fuse. power socket still works and separate from ashtray and glove box fuse line.
My parents had a car that kept blowing a fuse. They would take it to the shop to get fixed and they would just put a fuse in. I got tired of telling them there is a reason it keeps happening. If that brake switch is not adjusted properly, the brakes will be on even is the lights are not lit. This results in you driving around with your brakes constantly engaged.
I have a question i have the same model and my car started acting up and I was told it might be the timing chain but I was thinking it could be the timing tensioner i was reading where these models was having issues with it do u think i would have to get a new engine??
I have a 2004 sonata cruise quit working the light comes on for power to the cruise button but you cant set it light in dash dont come on so I looked on web and they say check brake lights. Well sure enough I got tail light but left and right brake light not working however 3rd brake light in the window works. Im stumped unless I blew two tails lights.

That diagram just spared me a massive headache, had the same issue but the green wire was bad

Did you ever figure out what the issue is? My brake lights aren’t working on my 08 Sonata. My friend changed the switch and it didn’t work.
Instead if first testing the common failure,the switch-lets check the wiring diagram..

Can you help me with no brake lights on 2011 Sonata Hybrid. The switch, relays and fuses are good. When you press the brake, the lights only flicker.
