considering one is an internationally acclaimed soloist with many recordings and albums, I would think it would be hard to beat.
I can’t believe it either. Gautier has such a magic touch to his valuable, beautiful cello and the ”student” is magnificent as well. Gadfly suite is totally overwhelming in it’s beauty.
they play well but if you look at the score , you see its not very accurate at all. "Irrational emotion" as my professor would say
--Artur-- 🤔emotions are not rational, not at all. I don’t care about accuracy -nor did I hear any lack of it - if the performance touches my heart. Music is supposed to be an emotional experience, not mathematic.

Stephane is a true genius on cello, akin to what Glenn Gould was on piano. Thank God for Canada!! The cello that he plays was lent to Stephane by a Canadian music lover who purchased it from the estate of Bernard Greenhouse. He, of course was the cellist of the Beaux Arts Trio for many years. I believe it is a Stradivarius called the "Lady Blunt". It has a magnificent sound all the way around but the richness can only be brought out by a genius player like Stephane.
Did you just compare the most talented pianist ever to Stephane?
The best performance of this prelude EVER. Tetreault and Gapucon move as one blending the strokes of each bow perfectly.

They look like they're about to cry from playing their own music.
Stephane is playing really bad compared to the rich and on point sound of Gautier.. especially very high up you can hear the difference...
+HausofKinney I hear no "bad" notes, high or otherwise. After more than 5 years on youtube, apparently you are the only person to have noticed the alleged bad notes.

I do play a Gofriller as well, and I was not talking about bad notes. I was talking about a huge sound difference between them..!

But, still, you are apparently the only listener in 5 years to hear a "huge sound difference" between the 2 cellists.
Just watch Gautier closely and then you will notice. I am not saying that I I don't like it, - still Stephane sounds as if he was whistling compared to Gautiert. In addition, there are few "bad" shift choices like at 0:55 when he notices that his b was far to sharp compared to Gautier's soft tone. So changed to 4th position on the d-String.. etc
