Funny Rebecca L-B says exactly the same thing, friendly and can talk to anyone but no Tories as friends. Both total utter nutters in denial of their own intolerance.
In my 20s I had a close friend who was extreme left, from a council estate and hated Tories. I was a middle class conservative. We shared many pints together! He had never met a Tory and I had never met a working class person before. He called my mother Mrs Thatcher, meant as an insult but she was thrilled to bits. In those days left wingers didn't judge tories as they hadn't been conditioned by schools or colleges. Both of us said years later our friendship, because we worked together, taught us more about the world we lived in than anything else, as we both saw a world we knew nothing about or understood. Funny Rebecca L-B says exactly the same thing, friendly and can talk to anyone but no Tories as friends. Both total utter nutters in denial of their own intolerance.
People like this are the issue. He is about as conservative as a person can get. He refuses to change at all regarding learning he wrong.
Sounds like he's perfectly balanced has chips on both shoulders!
And a fish and pickled onion on his head!
Just like every Leftist!
😂
You can always tell an idiot because they always find the truth a inconvenience !
We never fell out, respected each others views and didn't try to change them, just widened our minds.
I don't think this could happen today...
you sure you were just friends?
@@MrMoralHighground Ha-Ha - we were (eventually) both at each others weddings (to females) and no I didn't fancy him at all!!
Joseph, your politics are being democratically wiped out all over the western world and I couldn't be happier.
So, you should have no objections to a referendum on public ownership of British Rail, Royal Mail etc.?
Indeed and about time to.
@@Iazzaboyce renationslisation would be illegal under EU Competition Law in any event .Once we leave the EU it would be possible but shareholders would have to be paid full market compensation in cash for their shares and that means borrowing £billions and the taxpayer would have to fund the interest charges and future capital investment and losses .
@@ronnieince4568 No doubt, that would all be explained by the 'better in private ownership' campaign. The question was: Would you be opposed to the British people making such a decision by a referendum?
@@Iazzaboyce A referendum dies not change the current law -we are still in the EU and bound by EU Competition Law They have recently forced France to privatise EDF theur state electricity provider and they are now having to privatise SNCF theur state railways .State enterprises in effect are not fair and open competition which EU Law requires and Corbyn was not simply proposing nationalisation but expropriation of shareholders investments not at market value and not payment in cash .I assume that if you are a private house owner you would be happy a government seized your home -have you a fraction of its value in compensation and not in cash but potentially worthless bonds !!!
there are a lot of religious people with the same view, they will not befriend anyone not of the same beliefs
Some LBC presenters act like they are literally born yesterday. How on earth could you be friends with someone that holds polar views to yourself? Unless, as the caller suggests Dale doesn't actually care and it's all just a game to him.
This is the kind of bloke that doesn’t listen to anyone else’s opinion he just waits for his turn to speak again.
Iain Dale is a true gent even faced with this bigoted caller - sheer class.
He was not bigotted .. I see you clearly missed his point!!!
Iain Dale...quality broadcaster
BRAVO Ian 🏆👍
He's from the Guardian.
Nuff said!
“Guardian Journalist”
Translation.
Opinion piece writer.
ONE opinion piece writer.
soon to be unemployable
@@billbryson161 Quite. What's the circulation of the Guardian these days? 130,000? And half of them work at the BBC. Most of them will be unemployed soon.
Translation: BBC shrill.
Posh liberal elitist with self righteous sanctimonious opinions on what everyone (bar themselves) should do , and fake working class warriors.
Joseph think everyone else got to accept his views and there can be no alternative.
This guy has only 1 friend, who shares exactly the same views, every time he brushes his teeth he sees him in the mirror.
Omg just get rid this caller
I was listening to this last night while driving and at the time I thought... "this guy is a total 🤬"
On of the biggest falsehoods this guy espoused was "I'm happy to discuss this stuff"
Iain was totally wrong here. Political values are probably the most important values possible. Why? They come from prejudices of various kinds and why would you make friendships with those who disagree with things at your very core?
I don't know any Tories, as I live a an old Labour heartland where Tory supporters are rare and keep quiet, but, if a friend came out of the closet, I wouldn't end a friendship over it. They would go down in my estimation, as we suffered badly under Thatcher and Major and then again during the Cameron austerity years, but we would remain friends.
Its quite scary to hear this sort of attitude.
This is how you end up with Gulags.
This caller is a closed minded bigot, who tries to blame people who disagrees with him.
The Tories have had a lucky escape, with this one.
Are a blackman playing therace card again
You can have political disagreements and still remain friends. That's called maturity.
Now that's what you call intolerance. And the irony is that JH probably sees himself as a nice guy with love for us all.
" I couldn't have him as a friend because of what he stands for " Isn't that just the smallest step away from outright racism ???
L:istening to this caller reminds me as to why the only use I have for the Guardian is as a backup in the event I run out of toilet paper.
"There's no point in talking about Jeremy Corbyn because he is a past leader". Ignores the fact that he is the current leader.
lewisner Oh yes...but he’s happy to talk about past Tory leaders in a derogatory fashion. This is the double idiotic standards that one will find amongst all woolly brained lefties...they love wallowing in the muck of self pity and will follow blindly ANY politician who shovels it out in copious amounts and keeps telling them the evil white capitalist man is responsible for your laziness!
And starts talking about Thatcher. 😂
Friendship can go "way beyond politics", but sometimes politics goes way beyond the point where you can be friends.
Or even family.
A people that elect corrupt politicians are not victims …..but accomplices’.
- George Orwell
It’s one thing “standing by people” with words, and “standing by people” with actions.
Corbyn has ‘done nothing by virtue signal’ and pander to ‘radical’ enemies of the state as far as I can see 🤷🏻♂️
He wishes to persuade, but is incapable of being persuaded, as much as he denies it.
Corbyn 'stood by people like me" enough said.
Can't believe this guy writes for a paper and can't even debate simple open goal points
I think everyone listening to this, now understands why the Guardian is what it is.
Oh Lord. How depressing this is. We really do need to learn to listen and evaluate facts the "other side" are equally certain about. But of course no one wants to do that!
Stutter and splutters for 5 seconds and replies with "You can talk about small, little points about that..." What did I just hear?!?!
The stutter was unbelievable.....an absolute tool
I had this guy figured out when the title read “Guardian writer”.
Really?
"Really?"
Well it is a bit of a give away all things considered. ;)
Said 'journalist' was (arguably) far worse than a mere bigot though, he was a _cliche_ .
Never formulated an original, organic opinion in his herd-like life I'll wager...
This chap loves the sound of his own voice.
Why would I be friends with a people that doesn’t want me, as a child of an immigrant, in this country?
Clearly not as tolerant as they’d like us to believe.
These lefties are the most intolerant of all!
This makes me angry, he won’t be friends with someone because he is ignorant to the truth
try again
The enemy of my enemy of is my friend. The clarion call of the left
This reveals the close minded totalitarian mind set of some people. It’s my way or the highway.
I'm a left-winger and a liberal, but on the whole, I don't like this caller. RUclips users - please don't think that we're all like him, or that all Guardian employees are like him, because we're not and they're not.
What an unpleasant individual. Don't know how Iain manages to stay civil with him.
Swap the word Tories for black and it shows this person for what he is
"Eh um i..th...ummh um th..um eh.....you can talk about little small points like that if you want."
