Your cleanup on the seat and door panel was inspirational. Its the little victories that keep you motivated! Lookin forward to seein the engine and driveline.
It's not the factory upholstery, but it's a great job. You've done a great job cleaning. I've had good luck with diluted simple green to get rid of grease and dirt. Dawn dishwasher soap is also good. She looks like a keeper. I think the 56 is the prettiest on of the tri 5s. My first car was our neighbor's 56 210 4-door Sedan. Best wishes!
Yea I have been told by another guy that the interior is not original since videoing that segment. Still good enough for my plans with the car. I will try the Simple Green, thanks for watching!
Grease lightning is a great cleaner. Get it from wallys. Then you can get a vinyl conditioner. No original covers but originals might be underneath. I think they are a slip over cover for these seats. I lived on perdido key. If that was a ocean car for it’s early life at the Base it would be rotten. That salt air kills cars down there. Maybe a four speeds Muncie on the engine. Maybe field rat from your house. They big suckers. I had 17 in a camper I bought once. 😂 good like great find.
Look up proline water town truck and trailer wash , it will go on with the applicator that comes with the system, and that Barn dirt will melt right off ,give it a try, thanks BigAl California.
When you remove that front seat, you will find out where your rat has been living. I would remove the seats and wash them with soap and water, they will dry out ok if you leave them in the shade. Washing them and airing them out will improve the smell. While your seats are out you can pressure wash all the rat pee off of the floorboards. Good luck with your project.
Had many 55-56's back in the day. Can tell you where just about every part goes on the 56. From the quick video shot of the engine block... looks like it has a casting for a oil filter on the lower rear, If so, it's not a 265. 265's didn't have built in place for oil filter cast into the bottom of the engine block On the heads...265's had offset valve cover screws...the pix look evenly spaced. But just do a search on the vin numbers on front of block. The 4 speed probably needs a different spline on input end of the drive shaft, than original. (Could be why you have two drive shafts) The original 3 speed had course splined output shafts. Always liked the original sort of bronze and cream color scheme. This will make a great driver when done !
@@deepsouthclassics9446 those four speed T10 getting good money. Then the pedal set up. Then the three speed extra. Ole Lucky Lucky getting cheaper by the day. 👍👍
You might try lemon juice to clean your seats, it looks like built up mildew on the seats. My grandmother was a believer in using lemon juice to get out mildew. I am in Mobile and the temperatures this year have been very hot, the week we had with lower humidity worked out great where I could get some work done on the car I am building for my wife. It's hard to get anything done when the heat index is above 100, I have to do my projects in the back yard under a shade tree. It looks like you 56 may be a keeper, just needs a little attention to put it back in shape and get it back on the road.
Looks like the upholstery might clean up really well.I love 56 Chevys. My first car was a 56 210 . I actually bought it when I was 15 in high school. I'm 76 now & retired but still yearn to have one but my wife won't let me spend the money. Sort of a gold digger she is.
The glove box lid was taken apart , and the window garnish moldings removed because someone was going to have them chrome plated . You can see how far they got with that plan . If the trans has the shift levers for 1st/2nd , 3rd/4th , and reverse on the side cover , it's a Saginaw .
@@ThomasSmith-hh8fp look again , Saginaw four speeds had all three levers on the side cover . Muncie and Borg Warners had their forward gear levers on the side covers , reverse only was on their tail housings .

That’s why I did that little bit of cleaning, it is definitely a motivator. Thanks for watching!
It's looking good. Get it running, keep it a driver! Enjoy!

Great content. What you are doing/showing is what most of us would do if we got our hands on an old classic. Low budget for sure.

Best of luck with that ‘56 Bel Air! You put that 327 and a four-speed in it and you will have a FUN car!!
We had a ‘56 Chevy when I was a kid.
That is the plan, something to have fun with and teach my son a few things along the way
I would pull all those seats out and blow the interior out with a leaf blower. Quite a great find, great what you are finding.👍
That is the next step, pulling the seats out and then a lot of deep cleaning. Thanks for watching
