      @Paakid 6 лет назад +3

      Kimani Powell Simona is overrated with her defensive style of play. She just hits the ball hoping for her opponent to make mistakes. Simona never used to play like this. She used to attack, now she's happy just running balls down and just keeping it in play. She will slide down the ranking pretty quickly it she doesn't change her mindset.

    Great playing from Naomi but my only problem is why Simona is getting so much criticism for losing. She didn’t play her best and no one can everyday. Naomi toke her opportunities and played consistent.People calling it the “biggest beat down” they have ever seen. I guess no one remembers when Simona beat Serena 6-0 6-2 in Singapore 2014, and Serena didn’t get so much backlash even though she was #1 for longer and multiple grand slam winner. Overall, hope Naomi does well in the final and I know Simona while bounce back.

      Jim Stark I agree, but i have to say that a great player also needs consistency (that's the main difference between players like Osaka who perform well during one week or one month and Halep who performs well most of the time, or especially Serena who's above the rest by far). There's talent and potential for sure but I'm absolutely positive that Simona is better than her when she performs at her normal level, the h2h confirms that.

    To avoid emotions spilling over with absolute statements suffice it to say....well played Ms.Osaka. Maintain focus. Season by season, year by year. tournament by tournament. Her rankings are UP. Careful planning of which tournaments you play in and incremental improvements aided by the right persons WITHOUT overconfidence will see a general upward move in rankings. I am pleased for WTA tennis. You snooze, you lose. That is what sport at this level is supposed to be. Again, modern-day media needs to also transition with the sport. I note the questions in post-match press conference and I realise that quality questions to fill articles and blogs are ' desperate '. Media has a big part to play also on how fans support the game and their individual players.

      Hussein Nour Actually Halep beat Serena in Singapore 2014, 6-0 6-2 and Serena was not given as much backlash even though she was #1 for longer. There actually has been a “beat down” even worse than this.

    naomi is the star that the wta needs and is coming along at the right time. venus and serena are coming to the ends of their careers. the doping scandal has made sharapova damaged goods. there haven't really been any players who have been able to capture the public's imagination.
    naomi is a player who can develop a fan base in both the US and in asia. i would imagine that she is going to have her pick of endorsement deals soon.

    Hopefully osaka will always be good in many other tournaments to come if not then she will be on the same shoe of sabine lisicki's and the likes.

      neither lisicki or bouchard have naomi's game. naomi's game is more like serena's: big serve, big ground strokes, compact swing, excellent movement and good defense with the ability to change from defense to offense with a single return.

    if i were to draw comparisons, i would compare naomi to serena and kasatkina to patty schnyder, who was a really good shot maker. this will be a final with contrasting playing styles, but i think that the match is going to be on naomi's racquet and for kasatkina to win, she is going to have to find a way to throw naomi off her game. naomi is really starting to figure things out and to be able to make adjustments as she did in the match against sakkari when sakkari mixed things up in the second set by hitting a lot of high bouncing topspin shots.

    I mentioned it earlier too. She gets into good positions and times the ball perfectly. If she can put it all together and continues the same way, she has what it takes to win slams and be a world no.1 for a long long time. Go well, Naomi 👏👍

    Simona played horrible.. I don t want to take the credit away from Osaka, but at the end of the match they had the same amount of winners(16) and Simona committed 27 UE compared to Osaka's 20 UE

    Halep is a pretty good player BUT not great. If she's playing a power house like Serena or, now, Naomi she can get easily blown off the court. She is consistent but if the power players are on then she has no chance of winning.
