  • Unboxing and test of a Multi Welder Parkside PMSG 200 A1. I bought it in LIDL for 199€. You can weld without shielding gas. I tested standard MIG welding with gas (CO2), then GASLESS MIG welding with flux core wire, then MMA welding (stick welding) and finally I tried TIG welding with torch from my Fronius DC TIG welder.

    I am also not a professional welder but a few things I noticed: the current seemed too high in some cases because you have burned through the material so lowering it might give better results. Another thing, using TIG torch - you should stop and keep the torch right above the weld when you finish your welding to keep the last piece of weld harden shielded by the gas. You have taken your hand away and then went back in to cover it with gas, but after those 3 seconds it was not halping anything. Keep the gas there RIGHT after you stop welding for a few seconds. There is a good review in czech language by Killeroz channel on youtube. IT is a pretty decent Welder - I recommend watching that also.

      That machine does not have a switch with high frequency start for TIG; it's scratch start only, in order to stop the weld you have to whip the torch away from the work to extinguish the arc. Thus means the weld will always get some air contamination, but it's not as bad if you get the torch back quickly.
      You should use a WP-17V torch, it's the one with the valve on it for scratch start.

      Welding thin car body thickness panels requires a welder that will go down to LOW amps, in a MIG sense, as you've commented "turning down the current will help." as he's blown holes in his panel.
      Most MIG welders will not go below 40 amps and this is required for this sort of thin work. Sadly, Flux Cored MiG wire requires higher current than wire and gas, and this is why the results using Flux Cored wire were much worse than the MIG and Gas., which was already too much. as you've said.
      When shopping for a Welder, if you aspire to welding 1mm car panels or thin stuff, a welder that goes under 40 amps is needed, and it becomes surprisingly 'hard' to find in the budget end of the market where most people are focusing on the top end power numbers and that is what they buy.
      My own choice has been "lower is always best" where the first thing I check is how low will it go. My current welder [traditional MIG and Gas] will go down to 25 amps. You can always work up from that, but you can't ever go below the minimum the machine will deliver. If on its lowest setting that's still too much then its game over with that welder. I've been able to happily weld .7mm sheet steel with the 'lower is best' approach.

      @@MWSRD it is possible, years ago when TIG welders where just simple machines like this you could buy add ons that did thinks like ramp up.and down of current, pulsing and HF start. The modern version is called the Arc pig. It also does pre post and post post I think, it looks like it definitely does gas though so no more need for the manual valve.

    When MIG welding with gas, you should push the gun, leaves a flatter and better formed bead, though there are times when you'd use the pull technique. Your travel speed also seems a bit fast in a few tests.
    Getting MIG welders that are good at the low end is hard, usually only expensive MIG machines or pulsed MIG machines can do very thin material, it's just harder for the machine to maintain a stable low voltage when welding.

      I must say that does not leave me envious of my TIG welder, though they have a similar welder at my local Lidl right now, but it's an even lower amp version than that, more or less useless, if I wanted a MIG welder I'd probably just buy a €500 china one that actually has wire speed adjustment, that's a really important adjustment, I can't even think of welding at work without wire speed adjustment.

    Okee, let's be honest.
    For 199 euro you can buy this machine that can do al that.
    I am running welding machines of 14,000euro ën it can run only Mig/mag.
    I know that is not the best compares by the fact that I am a offshore welder.
    But for a home gamer this machine is good enough.
    PS in the comments everybody cries about your welding.

Have to do more jumping around so it doesn't heat up the base metal too bad. And gaps in your fitment will blow out more on thin stuff. I'm no expert but most of welding success is good prep work in making sure things fit well.

    OMG.... where to begin. We all had to begin somewhere, so I began as a young lad doing my apprenticeship in fabrication and, once I had completed that, due to my birth date I ended up having to do another couple of years so I took a advanced welding course and learned crafty stuff like explosion welding with C4 and other things. Can I suggest find out if your local collage does a welding introduction course, because that will give you a really good grounding in the technicalitys and technique of what you are doing with the thing in your hand. It will be a good investment and my companys employed many people who have taken such a course, which only takes a short few weeks, ending up being pretty damned good welders in the process..... what I just watched wasn't.... it was entertaining, but you need to get your technique right and you need someone to show you physically what to do with the thing in your hand so you do it properly.

    As a welder. These mig machines from Aldi Lidl and park side them self’s are absolutely Atrocious. There is zero penetration through the steel work too begin with. Also welding Stainless steel with low carbon steel wire will not produce the best weld in the first place. Also what isn’t helping these welds is that they are being pulled backwards and not being pushed forwards as you can see on the outside corner edge so for any young welders out there do not pull welds towards yourself always push away that is my tip too you all starting out! MMA welds where also put on far too quickly need a nice slow travel speed happy hunting gents (always buy jasic)

    • @REVERSE_BIAS
      @REVERSE_BIAS 2 года назад +1

      Hi mate. I agree with what your saying regarding the proper mig welding (with gas). However people need to know, with Fluxcore wire you pull or drag backwards...not push forward. If you push, using fluxcore wire, you'll just fill your weld with shite. By dragging, all the light powdery slag produced by the fluxcore wire gets aimed towards the already cooled bead and sits on top, not into the path of your weld/clean metal about to be welded. Check out Weldtube videos, or other top channels and they all show this. Fluxcore is actually not bad stuff with a little practice, but it's just messy.

    This is basically an arc welder to be used on steel more than 3mm thick. You could use it on TIG but it is a bit crude and builds up to much heat on stainless. On MIG setting as you could see it was useless using the flux cored wire. Using an Argoshield gas cylinder and normal MIG wire it was better but it still burned very hot on sheet steel. If anyone is thinking of using this on cars, think again as there will be severe distortion. Normally with a MIG you push the molten pool not drag the molten pool. Draging the molten pool when MIG welding, as shown on the video is only used to get a flater weld and to minimize distortion. I suppose the guy in the video was trying to drag it to reduce the heat as on MIG mode it was still burning to hot, just acting like an arc welder. Basically I see it as an arc welder.

    Very nice video. Great job...Thanks!! I just bought this welder and I am very happy. Never I had welded with Mig and is very easy (with flux). Maybe someday I will buy gas, it seems better weldings. Do you know if this machine can adjust the speed wire? I know that it is automatic speed but I think that maybe the wire can be adjusted. Thanks!

    • @MakeAndTest
      @MakeAndTest  4 года назад +2

      No you cannot adjust wire speed. It automaticly increases with amperage. If you're welding outside it is better to use flux core, so the wind can't destroy your arc/weld. Use gas only indors where there is no wind.

      @@MakeAndTest i own almost all x20 tools. Classic drill, impact drill, sds drill, 4in1 unigrip multitool, driver and wrench, circular saw, small plunge saw, jigsaw, multitool with carbid bits, pistol for paint, polishing machine, smaller vacuum cleaner. I only dont have chainsaw, angle grinder and hand saw for wood/metal. I think those cordless versions are stupidly underpowered. And ofc, i dont have this new pressure washer, new hand+jigsaw, and both saws for cutting branches, long and short.
      From electrical tools, i have 3 different sanders, 1J drill hammer, 5J drillhammer, 17J hammer, sharpening station for knives and drill bits, static bigger mitre saw for wood, mitre saw for metal, tablesaw, tabledrill, double disc circular saw, double head mixer for concrete, fan for burning paint, electric chainsaw, router, angle grinder, big plunge saw. Also, dont have real chainsaw haha
      Actually i dont really use any of those tools daily. I am a fisherman and olive oil/winemaker haha. Strangely i always have to use one or 2 tools in a week or for fun/fix things. Luckily, i have only 4 batteries, so with my usage, my batteries wont die from sitting haha.
      Here In croatia beside lidl, my only tool options are makita, hilti, aeg, dewalt, milwauke, festool, metabo and bosch. Here stores dont sell chinese shit. But since our monthly sallary is 450 euros, those brands are out of option. This is why parkside comes as a saviour.
      I use only bosch, sand papers, saws, blades and discs. Every tool i work with i use acordingly to the intensity of its motor. Result is, great great great, value for money. All my tools still work and i have no intention of killing them. Thats why i got mostly cordless versions, when they overheat, they stop haha. And since i bought the boat, cordless is god given. Im probably biggest fanboy but likewise, not even sponsored haha

      @@i1bike Sounds like a "man cave" full of parkside tools hahah. U nailed it with "these tools are affordable for anyone" especcially people that have a minimum wage and can't afford to the expensive tools. Probably thats why they are sold in like a day, especially these welders and the impact wrench. Not to mention 4Ah battery which was sold in like an hour. We almost had a fight in the store for these batteries. The latest addition to my toolstack is a Bosch angle grinder with X-Lock, which comes very handy if you only have 1 angle grinder and want to change grinding and cutting wheel in like 3 seconds.

      ,,poi ognuno fa come crede meglio e abitudine'' Questa frase dimostra che non hai ideea di cosa stai parlando. Riguardando la posizione in cui lui mostra il test, il senso di saldatura non puo essere che in avanti. Potresti aver ragione se saldi in altri positioni tipo verticale, ma anche li, non puoi eseguire una saldatura ,,standard'' se usi il metodo ,,,fai come ti pare'' sono delle tecniche e muovimenti precisi. Aggiungo che in orizontale, e piu facile ed esce una saldatura molto piu pulita e di qualita se saldi in avanti, perche dovresti farla al contrario?

    Как говорил дедушка Ленин, учиться, учиться и ещё раз учиться. Аппарат нормальный, но варить ты умеешь только электродом. На полуавтомате с газом при сварке тонкого металла основная ошибка в том что ты не даёшь ему остыть. Надо варить точками и дыр не будет. С металлом 3 мм мало подачи и много напряжения, проволока плавится слишком быстро и не успевает подаваться новая. Так же слишком близко держишь горелку. На 5 мм металле явно непровар, металл не прогревается как надо. Флюсовую проволоку не признаю т.к. она срёт + неоправданно высокая цена.
