I like how Super7 and NECA are both doing their own thing. They're both releasing awesome figures, as I've found my collection consists of both brands. As stated from others, they both have their flaws. The loose joints in the Super7 figs was a little disheartening, same with the stiffness in the NECA figs. Limits the posability from both companies. The Slash is by far my favorite from Super7, while both Tokka's that NECA did are my favorites from that line.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Slash, Muckman, Surfer Mike, Samurai Leo (though this one does have bad hips though mine is great) Ray Fillet, Leatherhead. All greats. Super7 does lack in the paint department, but as they get into the variant figures with wilder sculpts and details they really shine. Though the paint work on Muckman is incredible.
Finally!! some1 who's not blinded by nostalgia!(I know, I know... your name makes it ironic) I collect Both Super 7 and Neca turtles so it a refreshing take . I couldn't agree more with your points.Poor paint, mediocre articulation.. As for the sculpts being the Highlight, that would make sense, since the 4horsemen(they were the ones that did the original mirage turtles for Neca) are responsible for it. They are beloved in the collector community,Go figure lol . Can't wait to see more of your S7 journey!
Thank you so much for such kind words. I really wish that more companies would include the “who” of each product like NECA does on the bottom of their packaging. It’s so hard to know all this stuff so I always appreciate the information like this
To be honest, the only things about the S7 turtles that bug me are the single jointed elbows, the limited head movement and the "springy" feeling hips. They just feel like odd choices to me. I know S7 likes to preserve the sculpt by limiting the joint cuts, but I think these guys should have been equipped with better elbow range. The hips on mine work fine...they just feel odd, is all. They don't feel like $45 figures. Anyway, thanks for the review and thoughts!
Am I the only one who really wishes they would use the alternate colors on the neca figures. I always thought those colors really differentiated the turtles more aside from the colored bandanas
It would be cool to have a set like that. NECA is going for a more cartoon accurate look so they would be the same color. But I agree it would look good
@@NostalgiaUnboxed He’s really not. He’s actually one of their worst products. From the inaccuracy of the mold and colors, all the way to personal promises from Brian himself that weren’t met.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed He is. He promised that the Claw Shield peg would be fixed from the original Matty Collector release. Was it fixed in the first Lion-O from Super7? Nope. How about the “version 2” that was released to correct a single paint app? Nope. It wasn’t until wave FIVE with the “Red Lion-O” that it was finally fixed.
Hey! New to your channel and have been really enjoying your reviews! Totally agree about Super7. Not to jump on the NECA love train … but it’s hard not to when their products are just better all around. Cheers!
I picked up Super7's Bebop and Rocksteady for around $35 a piece and they are totally worth it! They are big chunky figures, solid plastic with way more paint apps. I can tell by your review that they definitely cheaped out on the turtles in this line, the quality doesn't even compare to the ones I picked up. I'd say give Super7 another chance😁
Super 7s stuff looks amazing from the packaging to the figure. Especially there thundercats but a lot of what I see idk if they are worth the money not to mention I collect figuarts so idk if I’m legally allowed to have both in the same house. Also another company is three zero they sell 300-400 dollar non transforming transformers when you can get some amazing combiners that have 5 amazing transformers and make an amazing gewalt. Never understood the appeal of threezero
That seems insane to me! I guess that’s like buying statues though. That’s the best place to get quality sculpts and paint, but they don’t move so I’m not so into it
Wow thats disappointing for Turtles figure to have such loose and damaged parts right out of the box. But it looks great in the photography, and there are fine details to the sculpt. They have been going for a very deep discount on Amazon lately though. I love the classic playmates toy look so I got a few at that lower price.
That was very funny (keep your mind out of the gutter lol) but those wrist hinges are correct. They are weapon-holding hands. Just like you’d hold a sword or gun.
So, I've commented before and defended Super 7 a bit, but no more. I recently took a good look at all my figures (27 of them) from Super 7 and most are not good. I only figured this out when starting to buy the NECA figures (both toon and movie TMNT). Most of my Super 7 figures couldn't hold their weapons properly, had loose joints, terrible articulation and were very shiny and plastic looking. I ended up selling off my collection as a result. I would suggest to anyone buying their figures to wait for reviews, preorder nothing, and never buy at full price. I hate this too because I am looking forward to their Sunbow GIJOE line, but I have doubts they will be very good.
Aw, man. I’m so sorry for that! I wish they were better because I really love the way things look online and the licenses they get. But I think your advice to others is really important
I will say, I prefer single joints because they are way less ugly/obvious and don't look like an art pose doll. I also prefer molding in the appropriate color plastic instead of Neca paint flaking off everywhere and showing the wrong color. You're right that it needs more paint, and while I like a mix of matte and gloss finish, I'm not sure it seems intentional or tactical in S7's case unfortunately.
For the price they charge they should go for good double joints like mafex does. They're engineering their figures almost like 80s Rambo. S7 joints are quite ugly.
I don't really get the whole point about sculpting an unpainted model and painting over it because Neca does that and it causes a huge problem with paint chipping. Me personally I prefer if they keep it with a molded sort of plastic instead of painting over it because I know that with some of their figures if not a lot of them that over a short period of time the paint might melt off or chip off. So yeah in my opinion it would most definitely be a whole other issue if they went with your idea
Im on my third super7 figure review and im glad these hit my feed. My desire to buy super7 is now gone. The martians figures where tempting but i think we will stick to neca for my horror and figarts for my anime
I love the figure. But not worth the $45 I got him for back when he first came out. wobbly legs, bo staff to short. a "twirling bo staff" part would have been amazing.
Cool poses. Some nice details but I just can't get over the 55 dollar price point on these. I also hate that they're scaled up some where between McFarlane and NECA size. Glad I went with NECA
I recently got my Super7 Leonardo and I have mixed feelings. On one hand the figure looks cool and great. Posing him is really fun. On the other hand, there’s a lot of quality control issues. For example it took me almost half an hour to put his katanas in his hands, and I couldn’t even put on his secondary head and I was afraid of breaking his neck joint because of how hard you have to press down to put the head on the figure. Another thing is the hip. Apparently this is a major problem with most TMNT Super7 figures. I shook Leo and his legs were shaking like crazy unlike the rest of his body. Overall I wouldn’t recommend buying anymore figures from Super7. There’s a whole lot of quality control issues and Super7’s really expensive. $55 for what’s essentially a $20-$30 figure is way too crazy. I don’t think I’ll get anymore figures from Super7. Did I really just write a whole review in a comment section
I've been really defending S7 in my head too long I feel like because I DO have these issues with the earlier figures and my excuse was that they looked like the Playmates and they would get better. And they did for a few waves, and then the last 2 fucking suck. And it's over $200 to be letdown so hard. I have my problems with Neca but it's not as often or it's preferences and they're cheaper.
At this point Playmates should have just made an adult/collector version and profited more. It’s sad because I honestly want to love these for many reasons
Man I keep thinking of giving Super 7 a chance particularly with the new 2003 turtles announced but they don't have the best reputation when it comes to quality to price. I'll wait to see videos on those new turtles even if it means missing out on the extra head sculpts promo.
The paint is on purpose. It's a reptile skin. The hips/ light leg feel is still way better than the other company that uses a crackle plastic and paint chips. Any way... I love all my s7 Ultimates
I like the Super7 stuff that I have, but I agree with your main criticisms of their products. The shortcomings were easier to overlook when the Ultimates price point was the (still high) $45. I usually really like the way they look, but not how they function as toys. Muck Man might be their strongest TMNT release, as it has a lot of great molded and painted detail (not to mention the overall odd design of the character). So the display presence with that figure goes a long way to mitigating the issues with articulation and joint tolerances, at least for me. My hope is that when all is said and done, the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts with these Super7 rosters. Because yeah, taken individually, the results are pretty mixed.
Consistency shouldn’t be overlooked and it sounds like sizing is part of that inconsistency. It’s a real bummer because they got their hands on a lot of great IPs
Thundercats is the worst, I sold mines because I couldn't stand the inaccuracies and outdated articulation (same motu body from 10 years ago) and terrible QC. TMNT are the best I think with all the problems they have, because are as you said and update on the playmates line. With Transformers don't even bother they barely move. I'm not buying anything else from them. And yeap you were quite forgiving. Good review.
As always a very good review! I love your objectivity, other youtubers get carried away by being sponsors of other brands and their real judgment is altered 😁 Speaking of the figure itself, I have to say that it originally cost $45, which is much better than $55, even so, this toy for people over 14 years old is very disappointing, a shame about the articulation, the sculpting is quite nice but the shiny paint makes it look cheap 😪 PS I pre-ordered Super7's Biollante Ultimates months ago, I'm really worried about the figure, Super7's latest releases are mediocre at worst, I spent $110 for the Biollante figure, I hope it's worth it.
Oh, man. I hope it’s worth it too! Thank you for the kind words and the price correction! In the event that I get items shipped to me by a company like this for reviews I will ensure they understand my honesty
I still have the 2016 Playmates Classic Collection TMNT Secret of the Ooze figures and been looking to upgrade but after this video super 7 just isn’t it. I’ll stick to their Reaction stuff but the ultimates are way overpriced.
For me I like to keep their horror related stuff on card for the art but I like their Godzilla figures loose since they have more shelf presence. With that said though the price point is very high so I usually stick to their con exclusives.
And Leo, apparently, unless you get other versions of Leo. None of it is consistent. But yeah, some others have stated the point of those hands in kinder words
Two of your videos have been suggested to me and both were Super7 reviews. I don’t know if this is what your other reviews are like but the overwhelming amount of negativity and nitpicking is a bit off-putting. Obviously your opinion is just as valid as anyone else’s, but it doesn’t make me as a viewer want to watch more. That said, I commend you on the production quality. Really A+ stuff there. Cheers.
Pretty interesting comment. I appreciate your honesty and you’ll find that all of my videos are honest. These seem to be off putting to you, but perhaps the rest of my stuff won’t be. Would recommend most of my NECA reviews. Clearly I’m not for everyone (that would be wild). However, it sounds like even my positive reviews may not be your taste
I don't understand how they charge so much for all the issues they have. Not even QC issues. When I've watched people open figures and the joints are looser than your average working girl. I knew neca was the choice.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed I mean here - ruclips.net/video/UKqtHNMXL9A/видео.html (the mouth and weapons from leonardo), you should have had this one for donatello m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71W5OMc8TCL.jpg :)
I agree that these are only worth around $35, but do think the review was a bit harsh for what they are modeled after. While the quality could definitely be better, I think the details are superb as well as the accessories. I also prefer these to the NECA turtles because those have too much paint for me, but then again those are modeled after the cartoon so it makes sense why they look cell shaded.
I can always appreciate someone that likes these. They just don’t have the value for $55 which is why I get so hard on them. $35 is a better price which lowers the expectations. It still got a decent rating though
What do you mean "the wrong way" is this not a toy channel? Do you not know about vertical and horizontal hinges for hands? Lol both are needed for weapon holding, but if only one is affordable, always aaaalways vertical is the most important
@@whitezombified just watch the video if you want an answer. Obviously new at this time and figured it out. But nobody needs someone running around commenting like this. Especially when it’s been mentioned several times times in the comments back when the video released.
I'll take Super 7 over NECA 99% of the time. The loose hips were a big problem, but most of the newer wave figures are much better now. NECA joints are so stiff I feel like they're going to break every single time you try and flex them. I wil say the best TMNT figure BY FAR as far as looks, feel, joints, and all around is the Mirage Comics Slash - which is made by NECA. It feels like a perfect blend of all the good things about NECA and Super 7 combined. I can't wait for more of those releases.
This is very interesting to hear. Most tell me the newest items from Super7 are worse than the older lines. NECA can usually be fixed by heating with warm water or a hair dryer.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed That's right! The early Thundercats and TMNT are far superior to the current releases. For example, 1 month ago the wave of 2001 a space odyssey was sent, the Moonwatcher figure is horrible! It's a cheap $20 figure, you compare it with the promotional photos and it makes you want to ask the owner of Super7 for explanations personally lol
Man I am trying to like this review but when a reviewer is so heavily against a company it kinda ruins it. I get it if you prefer NECA, but I honestly find them the lower quality company myself, their figures are hard to pose, do not stay standing even with a base, and the accessories that come with the figures are fairly cheap. But that is just my opinion. Nice review, but unfortunately it feels biased.

@NostalgiaUnboxed Hey like I said these are my opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion just like you are. Have you ever reviewed the Super 7 ultimate Slash from TMNT? One of the best low end figures I have purchased in my opinion.
Great Review. My experience with Super 7 is mixed. I feel my Donatello joints are too tight but you got a loose one. I’ve found that par for the course with reactions from other collectors. One note about the Lion-O you mention. Super 7 Wave 1 Thundercats are reissues of the Matty Collector figures from 2016. They used the same molds they just have updated deco and accessories. If you want to review an original Thundercats figure from Super 7 it’ll need to be Wave 2 on. Mumm-Ra The Ever Living, Slythe and Monkian are three if my favorite.

As stated from others, they both have their flaws. The loose joints in the Super7 figs was a little disheartening, same with the stiffness in the NECA figs. Limits the posability from both companies. The Slash is by far my favorite from Super7, while both Tokka's that NECA did are my favorites from that line.
I would say the Tokka/Rahzar movie figures are the best things NECA has made. I’m waiting to find that amazing Super7 item, but I’m hopeful!

Enjoyed the review. Got all the turtles recently and wanted some pose ideas…your the go to for me when it comes to posing my figs 👌🏻
Hey I appreciate that
Geez I didn't realize the quality on this figure would be so poor compared to the price though in pictures it looks nice.
Good for photos!
Finally!! some1 who's not blinded by nostalgia!(I know, I know... your name makes it ironic) I collect Both Super 7 and Neca turtles so it a refreshing take .
Thanks for the comment! You’re right, some strange choices considering how easy it is to hide joints with the pads.
Am I the only one who really wishes they would use the alternate colors on the neca figures. I always thought those colors really differentiated the turtles more aside from the colored bandanas
It would be cool to have a set like that. NECA is going for a more cartoon accurate look so they would be the same color. But I agree it would look good
Oh! I actually liked Liono a lot, not perfect by any means but probably my favorite super 7 fig so far. Still need to do a stop motion with him
I hope he is good or at least as good as Donatello
@@NostalgiaUnboxed He’s really not. He’s actually one of their worst products. From the inaccuracy of the mold and colors, all the way to personal promises from Brian himself that weren’t met.
@@Lio_Convoy Brian sounds like a real turd full of empty promises
@@NostalgiaUnboxed He is. He promised that the Claw Shield peg would be fixed from the original Matty Collector release. Was it fixed in the first Lion-O from Super7? Nope. @@Lio_Convoy good lord, that’s insane!
Hey! New to your channel and have been really enjoying your reviews! Totally agree about Super7. Not to jump on the NECA love train … but it’s hard not to when their products are just better all around. Cheers!
Thank you so much! Yeah, it’s kind of crazy how NECA can do the pricing they do when you start looking at what others charge
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Totally. Can’t wait for more reviews, and to see what else NECA has in store for 2023!
That’s great to hear! And definitely worth it at $35
I would love a mid 30 dollar thundercats line, the super7s look cool but I'm not spending that on Thundercats i love them (tc) but not at 65 bucks
Yeah, it’s unfortunate especially when they label them as “made to order”
@@NostalgiaUnboxed exactly, kinda ridiculous
You are the Will Forte of toys. For real, you are excellent! Super7 TMNT, however, better articulation than 80s toys, but not great!
Hahaha I will take it!
Lower pricing for the win! They do look incredible in photos and, honestly, even in the video. They really are different in person
That was very funny (keep your mind out of the gutter lol) but those wrist hinges are correct. They are weapon-holding hands. Just like you’d hold a sword or gun.
I hold my swords like I hold my privates? Lol. I believe you’re right and I learned it too late
I will say super 7 Baxter stockman in my opinion is the best version we've gotten so far
I wish I could pull them all and find the good ones. Haha
That’s fair. I think double joints can definitely look hideous, but when there are elbow and knee pads it’s really easy to hide them
For the price they charge they should go for good double joints like mafex does. They're engineering their figures almost like 80s Rambo. S7 joints are quite ugly.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed or because they charge so much they can do well engineered double joints like mafex or shf
The up down joint is good for melee weapons
Yeah, I was such a newb lol
You're lucky, in europe these run for 80/90 euros
That’s crazy!
I think these figures should be around the price of neca then they would be worth it for me
Absolutely
@@NostalgiaUnboxed yes
I don't really get the whole point about sculpting an unpainted model and painting over it because Neca does that and it causes a huge problem with paint chipping. Me personally I prefer if they keep it with a molded sort of plastic instead of painting over it because I know that with some of their figures if not a lot of them that over a short period of time the paint might melt off or chip off. So yeah in my opinion it would most definitely be a whole other issue if they went with your idea
See my latest review of Lion-O from Super7. It’s a painted figure
Im on my third super7 figure review and im glad these hit my feed. My desire to buy super7 is now gone. The martians figures where tempting but i think we will stick to neca for my horror and figarts for my anime
Yep! It's unfortunate, but at least their Simpsons figures are good
Hoohoo, next up Lion-O huh? Yeah, he has his issues too 😂 bit even so, I really like him so I’m curious to see that review

I love the figure. But not worth the $45 I got him for back when he first came out. wobbly legs, bo staff to short. a "twirling bo staff" part would have been amazing.
Oh man, yeah that would be super cool!
Cool poses. Some nice details but I just can't get over the 55 dollar price point on these. I also hate that they're scaled up some where between McFarlane and NECA size. Glad I went with NECA
Same here. You can probably find these cheaper out in the wild now
I recently got my Super7 Leonardo and I have mixed feelings.
Nailed it though! haha
Same! I wish them the best
The paint is on purpose. It's a reptile skin. The hips/ light leg feel is still way better than the other company that uses a crackle plastic and paint chips. Any way... I love all my s7 Ultimates
I'm glad you do! Great time to be buying them if you're missing out as they are on sale. And the new wave 11 looks great
I like the Super7 stuff that I have, but I agree with your main criticisms of their products.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Yeah, that's pretty much the best way to describe the quality of Super7's output: inconsistent.
I’m subbing just for the joke at 13:14

Thundercats is the worst, I sold mines because I couldn't stand the inaccuracies and outdated articulation (same motu body from 10 years ago) and terrible QC. TMNT are the best I think with all the problems they have, because are as you said and update on the playmates line. With Transformers don't even bother they barely move. I'm not buying anything else from them. And yeap you were quite forgiving. Good review.

As always a very good review! I love your objectivity, other youtubers get carried away by being sponsors of other brands and their real judgment is altered 😁
Speaking of the figure itself, I have to say that it originally cost $45, which is much better than $55, even so, this toy for people over 14 years old is very disappointing, a shame about the articulation, the sculpting is quite nice but the shiny paint makes it look cheap 😪
PS I pre-ordered Super7's Biollante Ultimates months ago, I'm really worried about the figure, Super7's latest releases are mediocre at worst, I spent $110 for the Biollante figure, I hope it's worth it.
So do you keep the reaction stuff in box? I’m always surprised how popular that line is (and the stuff NECA does like that)
For me I like to keep their horror related stuff on card for the art but I like their Godzilla figures loose since they have more shelf presence. With that said though the price point is very high so I usually stick to their con exclusives.
@@joeguz6644 that makes sense!

I have reviewed several Super7 after Robin Hood and I dislike them all. If you do not like my opinions then this is going to be a hard channel to watch
That’s some great information to know. Thank you!
Seems such a dishonest review ... really feels like you couldn't wait to shit on the figure. The wrist joints going up and down as apose to side to side is a brilliant idea but your first thought wasn't what you could do with that hinge it was to laugh at what you thought was a mess up
