I live in central Kentucky, and one of the best additions to the hot brown is to have country ham between the bread and the rest of the sandwich! Its magical.
With the Derby tomorrow I've been watching some Hot Brown videos and this one looks amazing. Believe it or not I couldn't find any boneless turkey breasts at the store so I had to settle for a couple big thighs. Oh well, after a couple Mint Juleps nobody will know the difference..
That looks soooo good! I to don't like it when they criss cross the bacon, I mean cant they cut it and put it on the right way. Feiend of mine is a cook and he would make me a turkey bacon swiss on sourdough with tomato then I would dip in real ranch and it is so good. He deep frys the bacon and it comes out perfect..I want some now
looks really good, but the sound of your knife on the bottom of the cast iron gives me the chills. i dont let anyone near my cast iron, i dont want it scratched up.
@sam ludman what is your point, like I said it’s a Prosperity sandwich. You need to go back downstairs and wait for mommies meatloaf. I’m sure your parents provide each meal for you. It’s nice to come out of your basement every once in a while isn’t it. You probably are sitting in your parents basement, no job, no girl friend , just bitching about a fucking Prosperity sandwich. Please fix the basement toilet , it would really help her. By the way, she says you are right, a hot brown is made with gravy, a Prosperity is made with a cheese sauce. I would have never known, but the cheese sauce burnt her back.... weird eh

The whole purpose of cast iron skillets is that they are basically indestructible. Using a knife in them isn't gonna hurt them.
A hot brown is made with turkey and ham, and the tomatoes go on top of the meat, not on the bread.
