  • Here is a brief update on my progress on the Polar Lights 1:350 USS Enterprise. Due to the cold weather, I have been unable to prime and paint the parts of the ship outside. The spray paint and primer is not something I recommend doing in the house.

Thank you. You are going to love this model! It literally is the Super Bowl of USS Enterprise Model Kits! Thanks again for the kind words. Maybe you can post a video of your model.

Your weathering decals turned out nice. For that little part that broke off, as it has happened to a lot of us, take a short piece of fiber optic, drill a small hole for it and paint the tip red. It will look just as good as the kit part as it is quite small. If you get a chance hop on over to my channel and check out the Revell build and play Star Destroyer that I recently finished. I drilled out the holes with a pin vice for .25mm fiber optics. After 1,062 holes and 300 feet of fiber optics it doesn't look anything like what came out of the box.
Take care hope that little tip I gave you helps out and happy modeling.

Thank you for the kind words. The Star Destroyer sounds like the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D fiber optic kit I have as a future project. Your star destroyer came out pretty cool. And great job on the Enterprise Refit!

Thanks Jerry. All the fiber optics and other lighting were my own not a kit. I make all of my own circuit boards and do all of my own lighting. Don't buy any lighting kits as They are way to costly, especially the refit as the navigation and strobes aren't even timed right. The strobes are way too fast on most of the lighting kits. Also most of the lighting kits have the interior lighting running at full brightness. I resistor mine down so they look more in scale and not so much like a giant floodlight.
Keep up the great work on your Enterprise and just be patient if things don't go right. Best thing to do if you get frustrated is to walk away from it and take a break. It took me a little over a year to complete my Refit, as I have around 200 leds in it.
      Take care and happy modeling.
