  • Here is part 4 in the instruction sheet for the Polar Lights USS Enterprise 1:350 scale. It is the assembly of the saucer section. I also added the weathering decals.

Looks good so far. Your paint looks nice and smooth. I used testors orange tube cement on mine and had no problems with it holding. With the liquid glue, you have to fit the parts together then brush the glue along the seam and it works by capillary action as it will penetrate into the seam and bond the parts. If you use too much though it will melt the plastic. Also if it gets mixed with the paint when running into the seam it won't hold either. Also if you get it between your finger and the plastic, it will leave a fingerprint in the plastic meaning mors sanding and painting. Also if you apply it and then press the parts together, it is less effective as it air dries before you have a chance to clamp the parts together meaning less bonding.
Thank you for your kind words and looking forward to see more of your progress. Good luck with your refit. I wish when I did my Tos that they would have had the smooth saucer, but I'm not going to do another just for that. It still is an impressive model either way. Last summer I took both 350 scale, the Tos and the Refit out on my driveway and all my neighbors were quite impressed as both of them side by side made quite the display.
If your Round2 motors give you any issues check out the ones that Ralph at tenacontrols has. I was the first one he sold them to, and they are very quiet. Haven't had any issues with them yet and they fit right in as if they were made for this kit. They ran me around $70.00 + shipping but we're well worth it, as I wasn't using any of the Round2 light kit.

Question Jerry: Where'd you get those black and orange clamps to hold the model together? .....Thanks, Tommy

Tommy, I got them off of ebay. It took a while to get them because they came from China but I got 4 of them for 9.95. They were a life saver while gluing the saucer section together.

Blame Captain Robert T. April, according to the story, he had a hand in the development of the Constitution class starships. He was also the first Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise , in 2245. He turned over command to Christopher Pike in 2250. Nice model. Kirk took command in 2264 or 65.( I always wanted to see how these models were wired inside the saucer section. Nice job.) My lecture is over, thank you.😊 .
