Nice video. While creating a new WBS for the Delay Events, must it be at the top of other WBS? I mean if it will be the inserted to be the first on the Hierachy

    • @PLANNINGP6
      @PLANNINGP6  3 месяца назад

Thanks for the feedback and Compliment.
No, a WBS for delay events doesn't necessarily need to be placed at the top of your project hierarchy.
While there's no strict rule, the optimal placement depends on your project management software's capabilities and your organization's specific practices.
      Common Approaches:
      1. Separate WBS:
      • Create a distinct WBS for delay events, positioned independently in the project structure.
      • This approach keeps delay information segregated and easily accessible.
      2. Subordinate WBS:
      • Nest the delay event WBS under a specific project phase or control account.
      • This method aligns delay analysis with relevant project sections.
      3. Custom Field or Attribute:
      • If your project management software allows, create a custom field or attribute to indicate whether an activity is a delay event.
      • This approach avoids creating a separate WBS but might limit reporting and analysis options.

Which one is the best Delay Analysis method to use and why

    • @PLANNINGP6
      @PLANNINGP6  3 месяца назад

The "best" delay analysis method is often dependent on the specific circumstances of a project. Factors such as the complexity of the project, the availability of data, the contractual framework, and the desired level of detail will influence the most suitable approach.
That said, here's a breakdown of common methods and when they might be appropriate:
      🔴Common Delay Analysis Methods:
      ✅As-Planned vs. As-Built:
      ➡️Simple and quick to execute.
➡️Suitable for smaller projects with minimal changes to the original plan.
➡️Limited in its ability to isolate specific delay causes.
      ➡️Tutorial Link: ruclips.net/video/MGS6vKwp1zs/видео.html
      ✅Time Impact Analysis (TIA):
➡️Analyzes the impact of each delay event individually.
➡️Provides a detailed breakdown of delay causes and their effects.
      ➡️Can be time-consuming and resource-intensive.
      ➡️Tutorial Link: ruclips.net/video/UKcn5coUsE0/видео.html
      ✅Windows Analysis:
➡️Focuses on specific time periods (windows) to identify critical path changes.
➡️Can be effective for complex projects with multiple delay events.
➡️Requires careful selection of window periods.
      ➡️Tutorial Link: ruclips.net/video/T3E2BDGdL5E/видео.html
      ✅Collapsed As-Built:
➡️Creates a compressed schedule based on actual start and finish dates.
➡️Useful for identifying overall project delays.
➡️May not accurately reflect the impact of individual delay events.
      ➡️Tutorial Link: ruclips.net/video/gpLVR5rk5m0/видео.html
      ✅Impacted As-Planned:
➡️Incorporates delay events into the original schedule to assess impact.
      ➡️Provides a forward-looking perspective.
➡️Useful for analyzing potential impacts of future delay events.
      ➡️Tutorial Link: ruclips.net/video/RSRHpgerSQQ/видео.html
      ✅Factors to Consider:
➡️Contractual Requirements: The contract often specifies the acceptable delay analysis methods.
➡️Data Availability: The quality and completeness of project data will influence the method's effectiveness.
➡️Project Complexity: Larger and more complex projects may require more sophisticated analysis methods.
➡️Time and Resources: The available budget and timeframe will impact the chosen method.
➡️Dispute Resolution: The method selected should be defensible in case of disputes.
Often, a combination of methods is used to provide a comprehensive analysis. For example, an as-planned vs. as-built analysis can be used for an initial overview, followed by a TIA for a more detailed investigation of specific delay events.
It's crucial to involve experienced professionals to conduct the delay analysis. They can help determine the most appropriate method and provide expert interpretation of the results.

    Thank you soo much sir,
Question no. 1) suppose we have multiple delay events which is falling on same time example.
    Delay event-1 is 01-jan-23 to 18-jan-23 = 17 days
    Delay event-2 is 09-jan-23 to 21-jan-23 = 12 days
    Delay event-3 is 15-jan-23 to 26-jan-23 = 21 days
    Delay event-4 is 05-jan-23 to 16-jan-23 = 11 days
so, how can we do the schedule for each delay event activity, suppose the delay event-04 is starting and finishing under the period of delay event-1 so in this case can i ignore the delay event-04 or i need to consider, if i have to consider please can you explain me how.
Question no. 2) is it mandatory we have to delete the predecessor of the activity for which we are going to link with the delay event, my concern is if it is the approved BLP logic so can we delete it.
    Please explain.

      @PLANNINGP6  10 месяцев назад

Please see the following response/answer to your queries below:
PlanningP6 Response No 1: Depending on the category of delay Please count it as a single delay if all of the delays belong to the same category and have the same effect and impact on the same activities. If the description differs, you may list more than one event.
Moreover, the duration of the delay event will be comparable as explained in the tutorial if the delay is related to the same work or activities. For further details, please refer to the enumerated delay categories:
      i- Authority Delays
      ii- Contractor Delays
      iii- Concurrent Delays
PlanningP6 Response 02: Yes, to account for the delay in the work's delivery, removing the predecessor is necessary. As an alternative, you can employ the suspend and resume strategy that is described in the tutorial.

    • @PLANNINGP6

Indeed, when preparing the delay analysis, the baseline should be removed.
Dear, as a result of your delay events, you are preparing the delay impact study that will show how your project is delayed.
Therefore, a baseline is not required. To learn more, please get in touch with us for paid training: wa.me/923088663797?text=Hello%2C%0A%0AWelcome%20to%20PlanningP6.

      Dear,
To prepare the delay analysis, we must use the baseline and add events one by one by following the steps. After the EOT has been approved, we have to create and assign a new baseline in accordance with the updated timeframes, budget, and other details.

sir i also have a question when I add a delay event and after updating the project as per actual progress the finish date is even earlier than the planned date, which shows that my delay event has no effect on the overall project how can I fix this

    • @PLANNINGP6
      @PLANNINGP6  8 месяцев назад

Please check, that the predecessors and successors (relationships) have been accurately added for the delay event, and their inclusion does not appear to have impacted the overall project schedule.
It is possible that the affected activities may not be located on the current critical path. The critical path identifies the sequence of activities that directly impacts the project completion date. Activities not on the critical path have some scheduling flexibility without affecting the overall project duration.
