    On the opening shot of the video what jumps right at you is the quality of the paint. On the Tonale the paint is much darker, deeper and brighter. Stunning ‼️Something that you can’t really see unless you see them side to side. Great video by the way. Thanks ‼️👍

    I actually purchased a Hornet GT Plus with the Track pack and tech pack. The track pack added 20 inch wheels, adjustable electronic suspension, Alcantara seating and the perforated steering wheel. Although Dodge claims the GT runs a 6.5 0-60, it actually runs a 5.6 which is on par with the Hybrid. The GT also has a top speed of 140 mph and the hybrids top speed is 128 mph, which makes the GT a better performer of the 2 vehicles. The exciting part about the Dodge gas vehicle is that Dodge is introducing tuning options for the GT that will be available through Direct Connection in the late 4th quarter of this year. The stage kits must be installed at a power broker dealership and will retain the stock warranty. This was one of the main reasons I chose the Hornet GT over the hybrid platform. Having the tuning options through Dodge is going to be pretty awesome. I do like some of the premium trim features of the Tonale though. But I am a Mopar man at heart.

      Hey I appreciate all of the info and user insight. Was hoping someone who owned the Hornet gave some better feedback! Def glad you got it and are enjoying it so far!!

      @RonsRides I love the car. It is much different than the typical Dodge. It's loaded with tech, it's exciting to drive and has a premium feel, thanks to its Alfa roots. I usually drive muscle cars. Never thought I'd be so happy with a small sized SUV. Thanks for the great content

      We have a Hornet GT plus with blacktop and tech packages. The interior is a bit cheap, but overall it’s very likeable.

    Great comparison Ron. I do prefer the Tonale but then I’m really quite biased 😂

    Both are nice cars, even if the Tonale is a little bit nicer.
    But the exhaust invisible, it's a big no, unless it's an EV.
    As far as I know the exhaust is visible on the Tonale PHEV in Europe.

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah you only get the actual exhaust pipes viable if it’s the Veloce. But I agree, the Tonale is a much more premium machine which commands that premium price.

    Great video. You're right, they could really distinguish them a bit more. I don't think that was the intent at Stelantis, but the folks at Dodge were a little forced to release this car, so they didn't put much effort into it. Other European brands in the group also use the same parts but have their own original design language.

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  11 месяцев назад +1

      Right! No one is mad about part sharing as you said. Just that the Hornet kinda got pushed off of Alfas back and then made it on lots before the car looking very similar to it. That whole scenario is why we are even comparing the cars today.

    The tonale is much better than hornet, but the Hornet is pretty cool.

      I think the Hornet would be cooler if the Tonale didn’t exist. I’m no longer mad at it’s existence, just wish it came out after the Tonale lol

    Look at the history of all car makers...chrysler cirrus, dodge stratus...chrysler concorde, dodge intrepid....all the same platforms and very similar like these 2...same with GM and Ford...think about it!! Ive been working for stellantis when it was still Chrysler, shortly after getting hired we got sold to daimler....they been doing this for years by having a cheaper version of the luxury looking one

    the dodge has to take sales away from the alfa .Faster, lower price better engine sound. I'd love to see a road test comparison

    As we all know, Alfa is known for it's supreme handling. So does the hornet have those capabilities now?

    • @RonsRides
      @RonsRides  11 месяцев назад +3

      Well this Alfa is not on the Giorgio platform that we know Alfa for, so that good handling may be subjected to change with this model.

    II bought the black one 2 weeks ago. The next day there was a recall issued for the pedestrian siren not being hooked up. The car had acid rain marked etched into most of the panels. Don’t buy a black car in Florida that the dealer left outside for months.

    We really hope it won't be available in the European market. It would kill Tonale. Hope that both models will find their customers on the US market.

    Shameful that Stellantis did this to Alfa Romeo. I'd never buy the Hornet, but I wouldn't buy the Tonale either, because its just a Hornet. lol Ridiculous marketing.

  • @Ronnet

    The Tonale interior looks very similar to that of the Giulia and Stelvio. It's clearly an Alfa design. Seeing it copy pasted in a Dodge makes no sense.

  • @mario53554
    @mario53554 11 месяцев назад

    Great job on this video Ron, as usual. Bottom line, IMO the real difference is just in the Eye of the Beholder. if someone really cares, the Tonale was born first and the Hornet is a derivate, you pay Premium for a AR name brand and some more Gadgets (on this comparison, because once the Hybrid Hornet R/T comes, it will be even more complicated).
    As @bigpopa1971 said in a comment below, when you start customizing a GT Plus, you can get the 16k difference in price to really work for you, you spend more on the GT Plus, still LESS than the Tonale and you have a meaner and better performing car. This stings to me, because Alfa should have "always" a performance aspect to respect the brand, here they dropped the ball.
    If you do not really care about the "Alfa Romeo heritage", getting the Hornet is a complete No Brainer, you totally get more bang for the bucks....
    I guess it is what it is, i still do not believe was a smart move for AR on the USA market, however they crashed the market in Europe with the Tonale and is the place where they are making the real money.... all has a relative sense...

    I don't hate that Hornet exist,but i hate that they rushed it so much and as consequence of that is so little visual changes.
    I think that only time other big car groups did things like that,was when both of the cars were not present at the same market.
