Saw this performed live in Tomball, Texas a few weeks ago. It was a truly outstanding show by Moreland and John Calvin Abney was a perfect addition. I had high expectations going in and they blew them away. If they come to your town get out and see the show.

Caleb Caudle's Facebook post directed me to johnmoreland.net and I eventually landed here. Glad I followed the rabbit trail. Great find. John Moreland has a bright future.

Excellent once again. Shovels And Rope should have been opening for him at the recent show at the Ryman. Moreland should have been the headliner.

What is happening to 4AD these days?....he seems a good artist but is not the line of 4AD... this is commercial country music...so dissapointed !.

Moreland is nothing short of a genius. He is nothing like commercial country. lyrically he is a poet. Just listen to In The Throes & High on Tulsa Heat back to back and you will wish you never called him a commercial country artist.

commercial? I see you're not up to date with the traditionalist scene. have never heard a bad thing said about moreland from the ledgends and future ledgends within the traditional community. only him being heralded. this guy is one of the only true songwriters now in my opinion.

Fernando Rivera apparently he is worried about the type of artist that is on a certain label. Who cares who 4AD has on their roster? The only thing I care about is that John Moreland continues to release more albums down the road.

4AD is a prestigious label that had some of the best band rosters ever created back in the 80s and 90s, and is precious to us longtime 4AD fans. Cocteau Twins,Pixies, Modern English, Bauhaus, The Birthday Party, Tarnation, Dead Can Dance, This Mortal Coil, just to name a few of the bands that made the label so great. 4AD wasn't just a label, it was a truly unique experience for goth/indie rock fans. John Moreland doesn't fit the traditional 4AD rubric: unique, arty, dark, transcendent. To be fair, 4AD hasn't been the same ever since its founder left back 1998, so while this new signing doesn't bother me, this track doesn't really stand out for me, either.
