During this year's stay in Trieste, I set myself the task of visiting some of the historic cafes in the city. (It was a tough job, but I was up to the challenge!) Trieste has a great cafe culture and there are certainly a lot more bars and cafes where people can get great coffee and food but I focussed on the historic cafes. Caffè degli Specchi was already a favourite simply because of its location, great people watching! I had to google the location of the others, only to find I had walked past Caffè Tommaseo and La Bomboniera many times over the years but had never gone inside. Cafe San Marco is a bit further out from the centre, it's more of a neighbourhood cafe, and it took a bit of walking and lots of checking google maps to find it!
Hi there 👋 some very splendid cafes here for sure with very delicious looking pastries! This is really put together well and is great for people visiting Trieste! Thanks 👍❤️
Now we seem to be addicted to cruising, I do love to see a cruise port video, they are so useful and informative. Great seeing how many wonderful things there are to see in Trieste. I love the cafe culture vibe.
I'm still at the 'thinking about it' stage with cruising as I get horribly seasick. Two years ago I noticed how many more cruise ships were coming to Trieste, there used to be one a week on a Sunday, now there was one just about every day and 2 on weekends. There were also a lot of people wandering around with maps, I assumed the tourists from the cruise ships, either after or before their cruises. I realised I could make a video on what to see, and it's ended up being my most watched video! So this year I thought about what else people could experience and I thought the historic cafes would appeal to some people. I've also discovered historic gelato shops, so that's for next year's visit!
The Austrian love of cakes and pastries is certainly on view of those coffee houses. They are certainly an attractive feature of the city. Another reason to return.
I did have to spread out the visits to the cafes, I thought I had visited all the historic ones but I've since discovered I missed one so need to try that one out next time! Thanks for watching!
