@@DreamyAileen I care and only because the Left run companies have already started announcing they are stopping DEI. In reality it continues under a new name so people need to know so they can push Trump and their governors to DO SOMETHING.
The left understands positional advantage and power dynamics. They know that they have to get into top positions at companies and convince them that their politics are what is mainstream. And they've done a great job of that. But the tide is turning and people are realizing just how wildly unpopular these ideas are. Actual devs are usually contracted specifically to not say anything, it's usually a good idea for them not to so they don't waste time dealing with internet drama/damage control while working. I think that wokism has tried to make the pendulum swing their way as far as they could make it swing. The problem is that a pendulum at some point will swing back and because of how far they took it, it will swing back something fierce. It actually started swinging the other way a couple of years ago, though it was kind of hard to tell, but now it's gained momentum. Last year has shown that the pendulum is definitely swinging the other way with people just being sick and tired of their bs. But these woke people are seeing it too now and that's freaking them out because they see their infuence melt away and they can't stop it.
Pendulum metaphor is very fitting. And the problem with modern society is that people are afraid that when pendulum stops swinging, everybody would be equally unhappy and powerless. The perspective of being actually equal frightens the shit out of them. They would rather swap places with their "oppressors". This is not a thing that we can fix overnight. Maybe we can't fix that at all. Buddhists tried for ages to promote the middle way (you can call it the way of equilibrium pendulum) , to explain that chasing power and happiness is futile if you can't appreciate everything you already have. But it is the way human mind works, we only appreciate we have something when someone else does not have it, or we feel bad when someone has something we don't possess. Looking back at my text, this is a long and overcomplicated way to say "you have a rational point and it is supported not just by evidence from a couple years ago but by the whole history of humankind". Yeah... and i like it that way. i'm HAPPY with it. ;)
You can only ignore the needs of the masses while appeasing the desires of the few for so long until society inevitably has a pushback. The more the masses were subjected to hate and oppression by the few, the more they have it out for them.

Yeah, this is a shame to hear about. I only found out the game existed a few weeks ago, when I discovered the trailers. And believe it or not, the game didn't strike me as being DEI-controlled from what I saw. The first trailer, the level of details put into the old man, the genuine _soul_ feeling he was putting into the music, and how when the main character appeared, she didn't FEEL like she was ENTITLED, which is a huge red flag for a DEI protagonist. "About that favor you owe me." (establishing a previous relationship instead of "we just met now do something for me".) and she was nothing but respectful towards him as she asked for his help. The second trailer, I was SURE that if any DEI money HAD come in, it had to have been minimal and just because the setting and story meant it would have characters that were minorities in it, not that those characters were changed after the fact and crammed in where they were they'd stick out like sore thumbs. Plus, the second trailer having the main character call her overly worried companion a "trifling-ass catfish" made me bust a gut because that's NOT the kind of language I'd EVER expect to hear from DEI slop.🤣 But then I looked it up, and I saw some stuff online that dimmed my hope that the game would be as good as it looked. Basically, people jumped on the game when those trailers first came out because IRONICALLY (🙄😑) DEI initiatives have made people WAY more racist than they have been for the past freaking decade, so along with the obvious rage-baiting trolls, you had the reactionaries who saw "main character is a black girl, IT'S WOKE, TRASH IT!" (my response: "MF, it's set in the American DEEP South, not in Norse Mythology, having a black woman in that time and location ISN'T OUT OF PLACE") and just the people who were genuinely hateful racists. (who are, believe it or not, NOT A MAJORITY OF GAMERS) The above paragraph was expected and annoying. The follow-up, where some of the staff were making broad strokes about how "We're ONLY being criticized and attacked by racists" is what disappointed me. Using the "victim" card like Captain America's shield, claiming that it's protecting them from Not-sees (F RUclips-Google's comment-section censorship Not-see AI) when it's also used as an excuse for why parts of the game are genuinely bad is TEXTBOOK DEI. The only reason my hope wasn't snuffed out completely is the game wasn't out yet, and there weren't any huge flaws that jumped out at me from the gameplay trailer. Now with this community manager fiasco...yeah, I don't think I'm gonna be buying this game now, and that's an actual shame because the setting is one that has POTENTIAL for all sorts of stories and adventures, but if this game tanks HARD, nobody's gonna touch the concept with a 10-foot pole. Final note; the way he brought up mental issues in the video has my brain tweaking...anyone else suddenly suspect that mental illness IS IN FACT one of the requirements that will jump someone to the head of the hiring queue?😑It would certainly explain a lot, wouldn't it.

Lol. It's not just called DEI. It also goes under other acronyms like ESG, BRIDGE, etc. They are inventing new ones so that the organizations can claim to have "stopped DEI" and become more "discrete" in their agenda as they are encountering pushback. Which means we have to spread the word and push harder.
Who cares what it's officially called, if it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, acts like a duck...
I'm starting to think that video game development's most expensive part isn't development itself but community managers.
All by design.
Imagine fighting to obtain investment, succeeding and celebrating with the team for giving such a boost to the project, then some troglodor CM says something r-cist and effectively cancels it out, i'm surprised we don't see the actual devs raging online about it... it might have something to do with self control.
Actual devs are usually contracted specifically to not say anything, it's usually a good idea for them not to so they don't waste time dealing with internet drama/damage control while working.
Social Media managers don't become expensive when they ruin things. Their cost stays the same, what changes is the potential buyers. The money being lost is speculative.

This story continues to repeat itself

Plus, the second trailer having the main character call her overly worried companion a "trifling-ass catfish" made me bust a gut because that's NOT the kind of language I'd EVER expect to hear from DEI slop.🤣
But then I looked it up, and I saw some stuff online that dimmed my hope that the game would be as good as it looked.
(who are, believe it or not, NOT A MAJORITY OF GAMERS)
The above paragraph was expected and annoying.
When one ideology says racism they mean a systemic power of legal authority, when other people say racism they mean being rude to someone based on their racial ethnicity
