I just said the same thing to a colleague. We've been using it for many years in my businesses. We use them for mailing lists and things like info@, sales@, support@, &c... Totally understaed.

This is what I have been waiting for. after all, using labels had helped less than this cause it allows mostly the user to send to multiple users but for them to send to others it was another thing, they had to look for ways to save the same label yet you waned the cloud to chat, share, comment as how WhatsApp groups works!! whoahoooo, I love this new program of google.

Thanks - a very useful video for anyone setting up a new group. Note though that not every organization has Google Suites accounts, and so some functions like the Groups app will not appear in the upper right. One big downside of the new version of Groups is the loss of ability to embed the group in a website or blogger. That made access much easier for many users who do not want to go to a new website for conversations. Also a loss - the New Topic button, which was much more clear than when users simply type a new subject line. Thanks again.
First, I have no such icon for google groups when I click on the nine dots. I had to scroll to the bottom of the list and click on "more from Google". Then there is only information on how to create a group. There is nowhere I can find that gives me an index of existing groups I might want to join. The one group I'm a member of I was invited to join by email message from a friend.
Just ran into a problem with changing a persons email address. Keep getting a message that a person can only have one primary address and will not allow me to change. Could you do a tutorial on how to change. Previously it was a very simple procedure. Not really sure if these changes are an improvement. Had the group for years and never had a problem.

We are a growing small remote business based in South Florida operating as a full service agency in the areas of marketing, management, events, media and nonprofits - and actively running on Google Suite for over 3 years. These improvements to Workplace are just what we needed, as a small business that prioritizes structure and operational flow to facilitate smooth scalability. Our immediate use will be to set up each group as a separate department (events, media, etc) providing access to third party project partners, and then subcategorizing each project as a separate thread. I couldn't figure out yet what the number to the right of the "Conversations" menu item (left) in a group stands for. It doesn't seem to coincide with the number of read/unread conversations nor with the number of members... Couldn't find any valuable help. Do you know how it works? Test Example: I have 4 members and me as the owner. As soon as I post the first conversation there is a 6 beneath the Conversations menu item. In the workspace view of a member a 2 appears. Sometimes the number changes when the message gets read. It decreases and all of a sudden without any further ado it increases back, sometimes the font is normal, sometimes bold. I am stunned 😲Nothing like the numbers for (un)read mails let's say - in Outlook...

I still can't get how Collaborative Inbox works... Or it's not working for me. I thought that collaborative inbox (and post by email setting) will allow any external users (if it's enabled) to send an email to the group, and this email will create a new conversation (for example for a support team). But that's not working for me. We only get in our gmail inbox the mail, but no new conversation...

1. When you create a group, you are the owner of it. You may add a new member as owner, or promote an existing member as owner and then you may change your role yourself. 2. You can add a non-google account as member, but for them to use Groups they need to be creating google account with their non-google email or create a google account to get added

In Google Groups, our members that are external to our workspace domain show up with their email address (not names) in the Member Name column. About google sites please. So when clicking on hyperlink text , the next thing it goes to the redirected site. The redirected site link is clearly shown in a white blank page before if actually turns into the actual site link. So it looks really bad especially if it is affiliate link. Is there anyway to hide that!!

It has some risks, as most online services, but these tend to come from how you set up your groups. The key thing is to check the different roles and permissions granted. When set up with minimal trusted admin roles and varied permissions it can be an incredibly secure platform.
@@FlippedClassroomTutorials Many thanks! Yes, I agree that any online platform has some potential risks. Hopefully Google has enough security to prevent incursions but can't be 100% sure of that. But still better to use than exposing emails in the "to" field. I've been setting up several Google Groups lists for a non-profit org for their various committees with only myself as an owner and no one else with admin privs. And restricted other accesses as well so only members can reply or see the members.

To keep the costs down for the Troop, I created 5 user accounts and several group accounts and added parent committee members to the groups. I tried to add a user, I put in the email address of the user, but when I look at the user, his name and email address are the same! So I would like to change that user's name from his email address to his name.

Is Google pushing the update in a few different waves? My groups are not updated on any of my google accounts.
For your Google Workspace account? Check with your admin if they enabled the update.

why does my Google Groups not look like yours? It's supposed to be "new" but it doesn't look like yours. Also, it doesn't show up in the "9 little buttons on the top right." how do I change that?

Hello... I have just become a Google Group Manager, so I don't know much about it yet. My question right now is... can I edit a user? I tried to add a user, I put in the email address of the user, but when I look at the user, his name and email address are the same! So I would like to change that user's name from his email address to his name.

Is there a way to embed a Google Group to a Google (intranet) site? I don't see a "Share" button and if I use the URL Google Sites give me a message that says the permissions won't allow the page to be posted just the link.
