I am proud to help manage the jewelry program on shopgoodwill for my location and just wanted to drop a comment to let you know I love watching our customers on YT because a) I’m learning for a future life 😂 but b) it’s a way for me to know what you all are looking for. My biggest secret about shopping at Goodwill Online is to NEVER tell anyone about the site. The less bidders, the better. Another comment I have is, Don't Bid until the end of the auction. All you are doing is running up the price. Thank you Margaret for a fine comprehensive video with not any silliness interjected. It's so nice to listen to someone with excellent diction.
Adding a Bonus Tip....look at pics carefully! You might at first glance see some cool brooches, but when you look closer, you see missing crystals, scrapes, etc.
My tip: Sometimes items are listed by people who don't spell very well. Use a misspelled version of what you want in the search box. For instance, you want jewelry. Try also searching for jewlery. It's worked for me a couple times, though admittedly not recently. I blame autocorrect.

Such great informative information thank you for sharing I just started checking into this today actually and got some toy lots I haven’t looked into the jewelry yet but I guess I can’t agree about these high prices on shipping so I will take all of your advice and also doing the one cent shipping to see what I can find there But I do look at it as if the resale of one of the items can cover all of the cost Of the items and the shipping makes me feel better
Yes, I have bought Barbie lots. One doll can pay for the lot plus profit, it you know what to look for! I also buy clothing to flip and keep my order open until I find multiple items so the shipping can be combined! Usually not worth it if buying only one clothing item because the shipping is too high. You don't have to pay for 7 days and then you get a warning to pay in 3 more days. You can bid on up to 15 items at one time!!! Work it!
This was extremely helpful for me; being disabled and unable to drive, I have a feeling Shop Goodwill is going to be a must for me (I haven't shopped there yet bc I just heard about it yesterday and I have no money right now lol). I'm planning to sell vintage jewelry, vintage glassware, ceramics, toys, and possibly clothing (though I would rather buy clothes off line), things like that. I'm researching depression era glass right now simply bc I love it. I'm a jewelry maker, but I know it's going to be hard to part with my pieces bc I love them, and I'm also a bit shy about putting my own creations out there. I just bought my first shopgoodwill a couple of days ago. I have bought five more since. My fist one should arrive tomorrow. I decided I have stay off the site until I sell some of this inventory that is arriving. I can’t wait to see what I won!
Always keep in mind that 1cent shipping items still have handling on them. And I’m surprised you didn’t mention looking to see if a shop goodwill is local to you. I’ve gotten some great lots from my local shop goodwill because the shipping was high but I can skip shipping by picking it up in person!

You mentioned check shipping cost. There is an estimator on the site to check the shipping by your address is automatically gives you the oil rice and also Adda it the handling to the total. It’s an important feature.

I have a massive amount of jewelry that I have bought over the years for making jewelry of my own. But I have so many other pieces that have never been touched or cannibalized.
Their a bunch of crooks......look at the shipping fee's where something will weigh 1 pound but then they charged me for 5 pounds or more. Then I question them and they won't refund me what THEY actually paid. Also they know when items are broke and they don't take a picture of it purposely so then your stuck with it.Look for yourself and don't get cheated like I did.
You can find some great bargains but the shipping from Minnesota goodwill was around $40 or $50 for under 10 lbs of yarn. Other locations were only charging $15 for the same weight. Also found another goodwill online store called Goodwill Finds. Sells higher priced things.

I got 2 10lb jewelry lots and what I got DID NOT match the pictures!! Just wow. I was shocked. It was 95% craft stuff. I def did not get what I thought i ordered!

Yes, I love Shop Goodwill. I have two items I am bidding on tonight. I don't buy large lots, mainly individual pieces or very small lots. My saved searches are almost 50 search terms. It does get daunting to go through but it saves a lot of time. You brought up a lot of good information about searching.

Goodwill uses a special electronic device that detects precious metals. I never bothered because i figured my chances are very slim on finding gold in a custome jewelry lot. Do people find gold in goodwill custome jewelry auction lots.

Hi Margarete , i agree with you about the Goodwill lots of jewelry. I have bought some myself and resold them. I was unsure if you knew about a site called "Caring Transitions" its a site that helps older people find nursing home or such, not real sure, but anyway, if you go to "stores" they have auctions or you can buy lots directly from some of the stores. There are quite a few cities that have a brick and mortar store, but you can still buy online from them. There is one in Denton Texas and one in Bryan, I think, anyway, some of their jewelry lots are rather high end, but they have costume also, and you may get it at a reasonable price. here is a link to the site and then you will be able to maneuver around it. some stores have 100's of items and some have zero. this is an auction going on right now. it ends on 11/17 ctbids.com/#!/description/share/274787
Prices are good but shipping is expensive, not worth for reselling smaller items. I only select Guitar amps like Fenders, gibsons that I know this product cost 600 dlls used everywhere, winning a bid at 60 dlls and 35dlls on shipping on a Gibson guitar amp is when is worth paying the shipping knowing it will easily sell for 500 dlls plus on ebay or offerup
Love shopgoodwill but I have found that lately the bidding has gotten so outrageously high. A year ago you could get 20 pounds for under $100.... not anymore. ☹️ I still bid but not winning nearly as much as I used to.

She did get hate mail before - some idiotic troll called her a "w****" and "stealing from the poor" because she flipped items from Goodwill. To me that's just ridiculous, it's not like Goodwill said "poor customers only" or "no resellers allowed".
I know this is an older video but does anyone know what they are actually tracking for the accounts to strike you for “duplicate accounts”? They took down my account due to supposedly I had one opened in 2017 and supposedly I cannot make another now :/ it’s kind of dumb
Yes. I had this happen in about 2017 as well. Thankfully chatting with them via email from my original account, made it so I could re-open that account and delete my newest one. There policy does state that multiple accounts are not allowed
I shop at shopgoodwill.com too much, mostly for things for myself and grandchildren. I purchased a jewelry lot and spent two days sorting. Not fun. Found a few things I’ll keep for myself and hope to sell the rest in lots on EBay. I prefer the smaller lots where I can see what’s in it. I have purchased other things to sell on Poshmark: handbags, clothing, collectibles mostly. I did just get the winning bid on a James Avery ring.
I appreciate the video but when I checked out shipping looks like a lot of the old eBay trick of screw people on shipping. I see way overestimation of weight. I look at toys and did a search of plush lots. The shipping indicated that a lot of six beanie babies was 21 lbs. I noticed this on a bunch of items. So go to the shipping tab and put in your zip code for estimated shipping cost.
Most items on shopgoodwill is a rip off with an extremely high shipment and handling prices. Goodwill is committing a crime by pumping shipping prices, because even if the listing sells for at a cheap price, they will make huge profits on shipping and I'm sure not only they profit on free things, but also write off some of the shipping fees. You can see that most of their listings have a false lb. Information, for example, one of many listings for one bowl is indicated "Shipping Weight: 58 lbs. Actual Weight: 5.5 lbs." They charge for the packaging 52.5 lb!!! For one bowl. I hope the government and IRS audits and investigates Goodwill.

It varies by individual store an item comes from. Some are crazy high, some are low and reasonable. You just always need to check.
I always go with their penny shipping when possible 😊

Just recently bought a metal detector for about a 1/4 of what it is worth for my own use.
The guy at GW told me that all jewelry jars are sent to headquarters first before they are up for sale, so it is culled over first

I was unsure if you knew about a site called "Caring Transitions" its a site that helps older people find nursing home or such, not real sure, but anyway, if you go to "stores" they have auctions or you can buy lots directly from some of the stores. There are quite a few cities that have a brick and mortar store, but you can still buy online from them. There is one in Denton Texas and one in Bryan, I think, anyway, some of their jewelry lots are rather high end, but they have costume also, and you may get it at a reasonable price. here is a link to the site and then you will be able to maneuver around it. some stores have 100's of items and some have zero. this is an auction going on right now. it ends on 11/17

Prices are good but shipping is expensive, not worth for reselling smaller items. I only select Guitar amps like Fenders, gibsons that I know this product cost 600 dlls used everywhere, winning a bid at 60 dlls and 35dlls on shipping on a Gibson guitar amp is when is worth paying the shipping knowing it will easily sell for 500 dlls plus on ebay or offerup

Love shopgoodwill but I have found that lately the bidding has gotten so outrageously high. A year ago you could get 20 pounds for under $100.... not anymore. ☹️ I still bid but not winning nearly as much as I used to.

She did get hate mail before - some idiotic troll called her a "w****" and "stealing from the poor" because she flipped items from Goodwill. To me that's just ridiculous, it's not like Goodwill said "poor customers only" or "no resellers allowed".

I know this is an older video but does anyone know what they are actually tracking for the accounts to strike you for “duplicate accounts”? They took down my account due to supposedly I had one opened in 2017 and supposedly I cannot make another now :/ it’s kind of dumb
Yes. I had this happen in about 2017 as well. Thankfully chatting with them via email from my original account, made it so I could re-open that account and delete my newest one. There policy does state that multiple accounts are not allowed

I shop at shopgoodwill.com too much, mostly for things for myself and grandchildren. I purchased a jewelry lot and spent two days sorting. Not fun. Found a few things I’ll keep for myself and hope to sell the rest in lots on EBay. I prefer the smaller lots where I can see what’s in it. I have purchased other things to sell on Poshmark: handbags, clothing, collectibles mostly. I did just get the winning bid on a James Avery ring.

I appreciate the video but when I checked out shipping looks like a lot of the old eBay trick of screw people on shipping. I see way overestimation of weight. I look at toys and did a search of plush lots. The shipping indicated that a lot of six beanie babies was 21 lbs. I noticed this on a bunch of items. So go to the shipping tab and put in your zip code for estimated shipping cost.
Any idea what they do with the stuff that doesn’t sell?

Most items on shopgoodwill is a rip off with an extremely high shipment and handling prices. Goodwill is committing a crime by pumping shipping prices, because even if the listing sells for at a cheap price, they will make huge profits on shipping and I'm sure not only they profit on free things, but also write off some of the shipping fees. You can see that most of their listings have a false lb. Information, for example, one of many listings for one bowl is indicated "Shipping Weight: 58 lbs. Actual Weight: 5.5 lbs." They charge for the packaging 52.5 lb!!! For one bowl. I hope the government and IRS audits and investigates Goodwill.
