REALLY IMPORTANT POINT MATT: The monthly budget DOES NOT show income from trade surplus. Only services like water and electricity are shown in the budget. Private trade surplus income is not shown as income in Cities Skylines 2. I've seen other youtubers giant cities where the surplus was very high but the monthly budget was in the toilet (some even with 0% tax), BUT they still made a huge amount of money every month due to trade surplus. Basically, the budget shows big red down arrows, but the money in the bank keeps going up. This is a really important point to note when using industry to make money in your cities. Your 263t/month oil surplus is making huge stacks, you just can't see it on the graph. In fact, in this video alone, you will notice you started out at 20k money at 1:22. Then, with 3 red arrows and huge negative budget, by the time of 3:51, you had 211k. So before taking the loan, your city had made almost 200k of money whilst having a monthly negative balance of -$2,735,063. From 03:15 Mar 2024 to 05:15 Mar 2024, in-game time, you made 200k, or about 100k per hour positive in-game time. Had you let that continue for a month, that would represent a monthly surplus of +$72,000,000 in-game time. Meaning with a negative monthly balance of -$2.7M and an actual surplus of +$72M, your trade surplus income from oil (and other commodities) is *+$74.7M*. Another important note: I am a real Mechanical Engineer. Greetings from across the hall back in Uni.
